Survivor Samoa: Episode 8 - All Hell Breaks Loose
The tribes merge, and one castaway emerges as an unexpected master manipulator, which could change their outcome in the game.
The game really begins now.
Tonight's immunity challenge looks...interesting.
I see a welt in Russell's armor. He should have not told her he had the idol if he was playing smart.
I think that if Russell were to make it to the finals, all of the dead-end promises that he's making with all of these people who will be on the jury will be his downfall in the end.

He will only have enemies because of these empty promises, but at the same time players are often rewarded in the end for outsmarting - which he seems to be doing. I have a feeling he will be blindsided here eventually, well before the finals.
Classic line from Danger Dave. I didn't like him at first, but he's got some great one-liners.

It's not like he's outsmarting anyone per se, he's just running his mouth to everyone. I think if he were saying different things, I might think differently. I think Russell would be pissed if he wasn't blindsided.
I think Russell would be pissed if he wasn't blindsided.
Very good point. Real torture would be dragging it out for a full 2 days and making it known there was nothing he could do to stop his ultimate demise, lol.
Very good point. Real torture would be dragging it out for a full 2 days and making it known there was nothing he could do to stop his ultimate demise, lol.
That would be pretty harsh. I'd be pretty disappointed if he made it to the finals without being blindsided...that'd be better than when Randy got blindsided in Gabon!! I at least hope he plays the idol anyway...
There is a huge opportunity here for a great tribal....but I am almost always disappointed.
There is a huge opportunity here for a great tribal....but I am almost always disappointed.
Agreed. They have a huge opportunity to get rid of both idols...if Russell and Erik both play it and Jaison ends up going home, that'd be huge. I'm hoping at least one goes tonight. And Erik seems to be shooting himself in the foot...he is being super cocky. It'd be great if they pulled it off getting him out. Big tree fall hard.
CLASSIC. Both idols out, and bye bye Erik. Loved that look on his face when the fifth vote for him came up...he looked ridiculously confused. Smart play by Russell I think, he really had no idea what was going on in TC for the first time, and it really couldn't hurt to play it.
I wish Jaison would stop trying to be polite and civil when responding to Erik and tell him to "shut the **** up because you don't know ****" Or maybe that's just me.
That.was.fantastic.
That.was.fantastic.
Very awesome. I didn't know...but I hoped and the editing hinted that he was a good option. I thought that his team in the end would vote Foa Foa, but they broke ranks and I was happy to see that. Next week CBS is telling us Russell is done. Sometimes they tell the truth with their previews. Most of the time they lie, lie, lie. I guess we will see...
Oh my god! My DVR messed when the time changed and I had to redo everything but forgot about Survivor! I can watch it online, right?

:) Sounds like it was a great episode!
Really good episode. Russell was smart to play the idol, I think he got over his head showing it to way too many people. It totally set him up for a blindside, and by playing it, he makes himself less vulnerable. It's funny because when he found that idol in episode 2, he said he'd show nobody, but I think he showed somewhere around 6, maybe 7? Natalie seems to have the social game down. Very impressive how her bond with the 90210 girls started a perfect chain reaction. My only complaint was the pre-TC segment was so chaotic and a little hard to process.
My only complaint was the pre-TC segment was so chaotic and a little hard to process.
I think that was the point so that it left the audience guessing who would be voted off!
I dont want to know the spoilers so I am asking this question here! Is there going to be a Final 2 or Final 3 since 12 people will make the jury and finalists. I was surprised to hear Jeff say that Erik was the first jury member. Also why did the tribes merge @ 12 rather than 10 like every other season??
Shambo: "Who's Erik??" Best.line.EVER.
They should change the title of "Survivor: Somoa" to "Survivor: Russell " He's like a freaking commentator. He is the only person they show speaking, it just annoys the hell out of me. I did love how Erik got voted out, that was a great blindside, and I loved, loved, loved the confused look on Shambo's face. I was on the floor. They really don't tell her anything. I was laughing when they showed who voted for who (after the previews for next week episode) and only Shambo and Erik voted for Jaison. Very amusing!
Man, that was a really good episode! This season is so much better now that th tribes are merged. Just like Shambo said "Who's Eric?" I thought the same thing! I still don't know the names of half the guys on old Galu. The challenge was pretty lame but the scramble for new votes and the blindside made up for it! If the preview lies and Russel pulls through next week it will be interesting to see how he does it again.
Shambo actually said "Who's Derek" because she thought that (I forgot who was talking to her) said Derek.
Wondering when they actually will show Kelly or Brett starting something up or talking at all.
Shambo actually said "Who's Derek" because she thought that (I forgot who was talking to her) said Derek.
I dunno, just went back and watched it and Dave was talking to her and I am pretty sure he said Eric. Shambo then said "Eric, who's Eric? OUR Eric?!" like she was trying to think who was Eric on Foa Foa and then realized Dave was talking about their Eric. Either way it was a funny moment to me.
I have to say that this was one of the best episodes of Survivor that I've seen in a long time. It had that good old fashioned blind side that I've missed ever so much. I am a little sad that the jury is going to be gigantic. I like the smaller juries better.
Interesting preview for next week...
A plan is set in motion that leads to one of the most memorable tribal councils in Survivor history.
Considering last week's was one of the best in recent history, I'm intrigued as to what they're coming up with next week!!
I could care less what excuses Erik comes up with in his post-game interviews, he was an arrogant jerk. Why is it that people named Erik never leave a good impression on me on Survivor? Erik from China didn't impress me much, from what i managed to see. Erik from Micronesia is THE dumbest Survivor ever, and now Erik from Samoa talking down to Foa Foa every Tribal they have together... I don't blame Jaison for being mad. As for Jaison, even if he doesn't win, i'll still hold him in high regard since he got rid of two bullies during his run so far. He might not be THAT great in physical competition, but his unwillingness to back down and let conceited ****** like Ben and Erik keep hammering away at people's emotions and expressing their unfortunate defects for all to hear and be convinced enough with just that to vote their cocky ***** off the island are two accomplishments in themselves. Congratulations, Jaison, for sticking up for the emotional, sensitive men (myself included) and taking out the bullies!!!
