Flash Forward
Out of all the new shows set to hit the airwaves this fall, Flash Forward stands out as a truly unique viewing experience. FlashForward is a new science-fiction television series by ABC Studios set to air for the 2009–2010 television season. It is based on the 1999 Prix Aurora Award-winning novel Flashforward by Canadian science fiction writer Robert J. Sawyer. The series will premiere on Thursday, September 24th. Plot: A mysterious global event causes everyone to simultaneously experience, for two minutes and seventeen seconds, his or her life six months in the future. When it is over, many are dead in accidents involving vehicles, aircraft, and any other device needing human control. Everyone who survived is left wondering if what they saw will actually happen. A Los Angeles FBI agent named Mark Benford (Joseph Fiennes) tries to figure out what exactly happened and why it happened. Along with his team, he creates a database of people's flash forwards from around the world called the Mosaic Collective (for which a website has been launched). Apart from the various catastrophic visions, people also see themselves relapsing into various former vices, such as Benford seeing himself drinking again, and his wife Olivia has a vision of herself with another man. Sounds interesting.

I'll watch it since it does look interesting and it's on after Grey's Anatomy!
I think Flash Forward is going to be this year's Fringe.
I think Flash Forward is going to be this year's Fringe.
I got the exact same impression from watching the previews. It's even got the website to prove it!
Everyone tune in tonight and give this show a shot! I'll be recording it while I watch Survivor and will probably catch it tomorrow, but the previous look very interesting and I think it could be a breakout series.
I am actually looking forward to this one.
UGH!!!! I hate DirectTv. The DirectTv DVR doesn't let you record two shows at once. It's stupid, plus TiVo doesn't work with DirectTv. I was trying to record Survivor and Flash Forward at the same time.
So should I give this show a shot??
So should I give this show a shot??
I thought the first episode was well acted and had a lot of substance. I have a feeling that I am going to be able to get into this series. Of course, with any time shifting show there are bound to be issues that will drive me crazy (i.e. if what they are seeing in the future is caused by what they saw in the flash then there would be a massive recursive loop that would implode the universe!) With Lost I generally let that kind of stuff go so I think I'll be able to do the same with this show. I definitely say give it a shot and see where it leads...
Just caught this online. I thought it was pretty good, although a bit predictable. As soon as the wife mentioned she was with another man I figured it was the little boy's father. The very last part (and did they say that was in Detroit? Doesn't look like Comerica...) was almost like the old-school footage they have of the Abominable Snowman. Creepy. It conflicts with Survivor so it'll be Friday watching for me, but I'm definitely going to give it a shot as well.
I was trying to figure out where I had seen the actress playing Olivia Benford and just realized it is Sonya Walger who plays Penelope on Lost. I hate it when there is some recognition, but I can't put together the pieces at the time. Anyway, Flash Forward had good ratings and nudged out Survivor in the time slot. The first time Survivor has lost since 2003.
It was really good and actually beat Survivor!! Hopefully the writing will be improved but a good show!
I agree. I was instantly hooked when I saw the preview in the movies.
This will be one of the greatest shows, if not the greatest, this fall. The first episode was very nice.
I watched it online, because Survivor has top priority, and it was pretty good. It will not be a show that I will make sure to watch every week but I will probibaly catch it when I can.
I watched it when it aired today, it was pretty good, I am going to give it a few eppys as long as it keeps coming on fridays
As I just mentioned in the V thread, this show has been killing it ever since Episode 1. It perfectly blends mysterious plotlines with action, suspense, ANSWERS, and a great cast! If the writing continues to be surprising and progressive....I think this could be the next "Lost". Spoilers time!
The end of the last episode was so sad! I can't believe Al just plunged off the building! It's really interesting, because everything that happens as a result of the FF will then change the future, no? This show has the potential to become EXTREMELY complicated in the future!
I dunno, I dumped it a few episodes ago. It was getting to be too much like Heroes (after horrible S1 finale) and less like Lost. I just didn't really connect with the characters. I liked the original idea and premise a lot but I just didn't really like how it was executed. :( I'll see how I feel after a few more episodes, but so far I am liking V and the direction it is going a lot more than I like FF.
I am actually enjoying Flash Forward. The cast is great and the story is moving along fast enough for me. Sure, I have some issues with the future being known as knowing the future is making the future happen which is a recursive impossibility...but I let it slide for the sake of entertainment. My only issue is that what in the world are they going to do with the series after the Flash Forward date? I guess there will have to be another Flash Forward if the want to have a season 2.

Something that annoys me is how they've handling Simon. It's very, "HEY ITS CHARLIE FROM LOST". If they're going to introduce him to the show...then introduce him to the show!
Am I the only person still watching?? And we have to wait till March to see any new episodes?? This sucks!! I will forget everything by then :(
Yeah I am watching it and am mad at the return date!

I never really watched this show much, but the bits and pieces of a few eps that I did see was very intriguing. I'll have to check the first half of the season out on Hulu before it comes back.
My girlfriend and I were watching some TV the other night, and she turned to me and goes 'I miss FlashForward! Like, really bad!' and I couldn't agree more! I think that's a good sign!

Almost here :) Everyone excited?
Almost here :) Everyone excited?
I was, but watching it now I am losing hope that this gets renewed. I'm only an hour in, maybe the second hour isn't a snoozer. This show has been off the air for so long, it is hard to jump back in. I'm sure if I was watching this in November, I'd rate it better, but now I'm quite apathetic and not being wowed. This is not the new Lost. It is just another serial that telegraphs the future, literally.
So confused, Dominic Monaghan flashed on the Island, got lost and ended up in Flash Forward?

I've never really paid attention to this show, but I guess I'll be watching it tonight since GREY'S isn't on AGAIN because of it... :-/
