Wow Great show!
Kanye you suck! I felt so bad for Taylor, and then to have to perform right after that. It was a great performance too. Taylor Swift is a class act.
Beyonce......thank you, I was bawling when she did that for Taylor, I like Bey more now.
Pink's performance was the amazing!

Taylor's performance was actually prerecorded. Probably a good thing too as she was pretty upset.

Really? I did not know that, thanks Mo!
Yeah thank goodness it was prerecorded!

Yeah, it's why some people are saying the whole thing was staged. Pretty ridiculous if you ask me.

People are saying this whole Kanye thing was staged?????
People are saying this whole Kanye thing was staged?????
Yeah. It's a combination of a pre-recorded performance, and Taylor being right off stage and ready when Beyonce called her out. I'd love to not believe it, but then again, MTV will do anything for their ratings...they've gotta be loving all the press they are getting off this right now.

The thing is, I don't think that's enough evidence to show that it was staged. Performances are prerecorded all the time. I don't know of a live show that hasn't had something recorded before hand. The difficulty of the shoot and camera angles alone are reason enough to not record it live.
A lot of people stay behind stage for the majority of the show, so I'm not sure that's a good enough reason, either.
With the whole Bruno/Eminem thing that happened, it was pretty obvious it was staged, Eminem isn't that great an actor, but it's not hard to believe that Kanye would actually do something like this to a young girl. It is a little harder to believe Taylor would stage the whole thing, though.
Just the whole flow of things was awkward. When he was done talking they started playing the video clip behind her and went to it, then it stopped, went back to Taylor, who may have tried to finish if it hadn't been for being cut off a second time, then went back to the video as she was escorted off the stage. I really think if it was staged you wouldn't have had so many cuts away from the action. Not to mention there was also a random cut to a lighting fixture or set design thrown in there, too.
If it does end up being fake, then good for her for fooling everyone, but I'm not sure she's going to enjoy the backlash that would soon follow.

Except that Beyonce, Gaga and Pink were all prerecorded too. Usually the only acts that don't sing to backup tracks at the VMA's, where people tend to do crazy dancing or crazy tricks, are bands who are already playing their instruments and usually stay pretty stationary. I don't think it was staged. It might have been planned by Kanye and Beyonce's camps to make her look like the next saint but no one let Taylor in on it that's for sure!
This pic gave me the giggles. Em's face says it all...

I'm not saying it was staged, but that I wouldn't put it past MTV to pull a stunt like that. I don't see Taylor Swift as a person who would play into that (or Beyonce) but could completely see Kanye doing it because, hey, that's more attention for Kanye. And we all know how much Kanye loves Kanye.
If it were different performers, it would make the idea of it being staged more believable.
Haha, Pink had to be escorted away from him by security. Doesn't surprise me, chick has more muscle in one arm than Kanye has in his entire body. The damage could have been bad.
he posted this on his blog:
"I'm so sorry to Taylor Swift and her fans and her mom. I spoke to her mother right after and she said the same thing my mother would've said. She is very talented! I like the lyrics about being a cheerleader and she's in the bleachers! I'm in the wrong for going on stage and taking away from her moment! Beyonce's video was the best of this decade!!! I'm sorry to my fans if I let you guys down!!! I'm sorry to my friends at MTV.
I will apologize to Taylor 2mrw. Welcome to the real world!!! Everybody wanna boo me but I'm a fan of real pop culture! No disrespect but we watchin' the show at the crib right now cause...well you know!!! I'm still happy for Taylor!!! Booyaa. You are very very talented. I gave my award to Outkast when they deserved it over me. That's what it is! I'm not crazy yall, I'm just real. Sorry for that! I really feel bad for Taylor and I'm sincerely sorry!!! Much respect!!!"
...which basically translates to:
"I'm so sorry that I'm right all the time! Please, fans, don't stop buying my ****, I mean, music!"
This is seriously the most half ***ed apology I've ever seen.
I remember hearing many months ago from Kanye that he thought Beyonce's video was amazing. He'd said not too long before that that Beyonce needed to watch out for Rihanna, but when Beyonce's "Single Ladies" came out, he raved over it and thought she stepped it up. So when I saw Taylor won over Beyonce in the Best Female Video category, I knew Kanye was going to be very upset and I told my mom so. Then I went back to watch and saw him jump up on the stage to voice his displeasure at Beyonce not winning.
I agree with the majority - I think Kanye was rude and wrong for that. I think it's fine for him to have an opinion, but not to take people's moments from them at an awards show. Especially since the winners do not have control over their wins. I don't care if the person winning was 18 or 38, male or female, a beloved artist or not, a pop or rap or R&B or rock artist, it's just really rude and disrespectful to do something like that. I don't think it was a racial thing like some people have speculated (in other places). I just think he has a huge ego and he just pays attention to the music scene and likes to have an opinion about who gets to win what. And I think he's trying to be an iconic artist. He's given Justin Timberlake props for what he's done and he's said he's trying to reach that level.
I agree with those who think he was being facetious or making fun of Taylor in his apology blog. Him making a comment about the cheerleader and bleachers line didn't sound flattering. He would have been better off with just saying that he was sorry instead of explaining the rest. I'm glad he was made to leave the show. I think MTV should ban him from the next year's show. He made a big stink in 2007 as well about not getting to open instead of Britney and he was quite insulting towards MTV and Britney (And BEP from that backstage thing? Sounds like it, unless I'm hearing wrong?). He needs to learn how to be more respectful and handle things better, and at the right times. I agree that it would have been better for him to say what he wanted to in an interview as opposed to at the awards show, for the reasons already mentioned. He would have still been honest and upfront with his feelings. It was not time for him to speak during her acceptance speech.
I can understand why he thought Beyonce's video was more deserving (althought I definitely disagree that her video is one of the best of all time or that it was that amazing). I would have preferred Lady Gaga's video winning. But the point is it was a public vote. So he can't make it an MTV not giving certain artists enough due thing.
Loved Janet doing her part and dancing along with Michael on video to "Scream." I was so hoping something like that would be done. But I wanted her to cover one or two of his songs as well.
And I agree that Beyonce was classy to let Taylor finish her speech.
I think this VMAs was the best one since at least 2002.
Kanye makes good music and I respect him for the artist his is. But he needs to get over himself. He was probably only mad because he didn't win best female video haha Either way it just really isn't cool. But man Lady Gaga....Eminem looked ready to run or was thinking of a way to fit her into his next video lol
Do you guys remember this from the 2002 VMA's?
I ****** love this:

Oh and Kanye is an arrogant piece of ****. That is all. Ima need him to fall back and stop using auto-tune. ;)
Except that Beyonce, Gaga and Pink were all prerecorded too.
How do they do that? I thought they were all live, besides Taylor's ofcourse.
Guys, Gay Fish is a genius and we just don't understand him! He is all knowing. Respect the Gay Fish. ;)
(PS - this is a reference to the South Park episode about him if you didn't catch that.)
How do they do that? I thought they were all live, besides Taylor's ofcourse.
Do what? They just lip sync to a backing track. Unless you thought I meant that their actual whole performance was prerecorded. I just meant that the vocals were.
