The Ruins: Syrus Yarbrough - MTV
Syrus Yarbrough The Real World Boston

Syrus, who hails from Santa Monica, California, is a man in pursuit of happiness. He attended the University of Hawaii on a basketball scholarship, majored in communications and coached youth basketball. When asked about his personal goals, Syrus says that he wants to be known as a good person and--more importantly--to be loved by many. Challenges: Extreme Challenge, Battle of the Sexes, The Inferno, The Gauntlet 2, The Ruins. Santa Monica, California
:D Real world's **** is back! I still remember that time when Syrus was in the chicken suit! LOL.
Glad to see the original **** is back! He adds some great commentaries.
Who doesn't love Big Cy?

I don't really know much about him but that is why I am going to watch the Ruins
I don't really know much about him but that is why I am going to watch the Ruins
He's a very entertaining guy. You should watch Inferno 1 and Gauntlet 2, he was on those.
Will we see Syrus vs. TJ part 2?
Let's see who his next "prey" I mean love interest will be on this challenge. Unless of course he is already boo'ed up with somebody. I think he's past 30 and by that age, it's time to retire your player card fellas lol
I think he's almost 40. Is he married yet?
I think he's almost 40. Is he married yet?
Syrus' birthday: September 12, 1971.

Yes it is. Especially if you are pushing 40 :-)
Dude, did Syrus ever hook up with anyone on the last two challenges he was on? I don't remember him doing that on The Inferno or G2 or even BOTS1 (didn't watch Extreme). I don't think he's like Mark...he doesn't seem like he's too interested in hooking up with all the girls in their early 20s.
Will we see Syrus vs. TJ part 2?
I think Syrus was just embarrassed that he was getting manhandled & schooled by a guy so much smaller than him in a physical competition, and since he couldn't do anything about that, he projected his anger at TJ and blamed him for it. I was really surprised to see him take that route to be honest, he seemed like the kind of guy who could take defeat in a humble manner and lose with class but he did anything but in that instance.
I love Syrus, the original player/pimp!

I think in the heat of the moment, it's hard to really see what counts as fair game so, he argued his point with TJ and TJ called him out of his name. I'd be upset too if the "unbiased" host called me out of my name in the middle of a competition. But when we're dealing with the guy who said it's a shame that Tina had to go home for punching Beth, what more can you expect? Nevertheless, Syrus' elimination was one of, if not, the saddest eliminations of the Gauntlet 2. He bowed out gracefully and I'm excited to see him return!
Syrus was a bad sport. I like him but he was just being a very sore loser.
Never thought I see this guy again...His alright in my book, and I like his cheapbooks.com ads lol...Thanks for helping me save money on college textbooks big boy lol
Anyone notice Syrus is not afraid to have the back of the controversial girls on this challenge? I've seen him have Julie's back, Beth's back, and now he has Tonya's back. He doesn't just jump on any bandwagons and decides who he likes based on who is considered cool to like.
Yrus stands for the people that evryone is mean to. Syrus is the anti-Veronica
Cyrus stands for the people that evryone is mean to. Syrus is the anti-Veronica
I couldn't have said it better myself. He's standing up for his friend, Tonya, while Verantula...being Verantula...starts hating on Wes just because everyone else is.
I love seeing Adam and Syrus give Tonya that pep talk. He's one of the coolest people to ever be on these challenges.
I totally agree. Syrus is really great to have on the challenges. The person on the other side usually will have a friend in him if he likes them. He's not afraid to hang with the unpopular person. I liked that he was there to give Tonya a hug. Hey, I even liked that he was able to be friends with both Coral and Julie, even though I agreed more with Coral. And he's the one who is not afraid to be openly friendly to Beth and not talk trash about her behind her back, or fake being friends with her. Plus I like to see a RW Boston representative on the challenge.
Syrus is just not about the BS. I think he's one of the few people that actually come on the challenges to compete and have a good time without trying to cause a lot of junk. The fact that he always had Beth's and Julie's back was cool too. I remember him being on maybe the second or third challenge (back when it was 5 vs. 5 and they did the bus tour). I always thought he rightfully went after T.J., if I remember T.J. called him out and Syrus was justified in challenging him. I saw this cat a couple years ago at a downtown pub in St. Pete, Florida. He was hanging out with a woman that didn't exactly fit the **** profile. I hope he's moved on to bigger and better.
Can someone recap the Sy v. TJ thing? I don't remember that Anyways, I love that Boston is getting some representation. It truly was one of my favorite seasons, if not top dog. I love love LOVED the entire Boston cast.
Boston is definitely in my top three seasons as well. The Syrus vs. TJ thing - from what I remember, Syrus was upset with one of TJ's calls in his matchup against Derrick (I can't remember if Syrus or TJ was right about the call). And so Syrus was yelling and all and TJ started yelling back and called him an MF. Can't remember if Syrus called him something similar beforehand. I'm thinking about the guys on the Champions team, and J,E,K,D & D are five of seven guys. They seem to be on each other's sides. Obviously Wes is an outcast. So I think him and Syrus will be the ones going up for elimination a lot if they don't volunteer. Sad for Syrus fans, but hopefully he can win if he has to go in.
I like syrus.. He hangs out with everyone.. not just the "cool kids" to try to fit in.. He seems like a real stand up nice guy...

I actually met Syrus back in....oh, 1996-97? And not only was he very good-looking, but also very nice and super-polite. He and Sean (who was also with him) were very cool and posed for pics with me and my friends, and then they gave us free tickets to see their logging show that they were there promoting!
Syrus is so awesome. I too always like how he isn't afraid to be Beth's friend. A lot of fake people on these shows were cool with her when it benefitted them such as her calender shoots but as soon as the cameras were on they treated her like crap. Not Syrus. He is the epitome of an old school castmember. Not about the bs and just laid back cool while at the same time having more entertainment value in their little pinky than someone like Horseface has in his entire body. Meanwhile Evan hogs all the confessionals once again. I am so sick of modern day challenges.
The guy has always been a laid back cool cat who busts his *** in the Challenges.

if he came back, he'd be the oldest to ever do one
