Most of you want to sit and hate/bash on Joey, but if you think about it..just about every cast member besides Ayiiia is still friends with Joey and loves him? Emilee and Jasmine are continuously sticking up for him and stating their friendship. There is a reason for it.
And they lived this ****. We just watch it, and judge from some sort of false or misconstrued appearance of how these people live for four months edited to be as dramatical as possible. I am not sure if dramatical is a word, but it should be.
But if these people : Jasmine, Bronne, Emilee, CJ, (I am unsure about Jonna or Derek) are willing to see past his "antics" towards Ayiiia or work ethic and still love to be around him, there is clearly something awesome about this guy. Just my two cents. Massachusetts bias, I guess ;)
The reason that I don't like Joey is because of the Ayiiia situation. I think that he knew what he was doing was disgusting but kept doing it and I have seen no remorse from him. He just seems cocky and desperate. On the show Joey tries to be the tough rebel but it just comes off as childish.

Not to be mean or singling you out in the slightest, but you aren't Ayiiia. I mean we can all be angered or outraged by what was shown to us all over national television, but close friends to Ayiiia have chose to forgive him and still befriend him. He must have obvious qualities Em and Jazzy look for in friends.
Have you ever really disliked someone and done stupid or childish things to spite them or anger them? Maybe not, and its quite respectable if not. I, on the other hand, have said and done many silly or rude(or downright wrong and hurtful) things to people I genuinely disliked. Doesn't make me right, but people say and do things in the heat of the moment. It's a part of anger and human nature.
I'm just not willing to write off Joey because of what he has said or done here or to Ayiiia in his edit on MTV. Apparently, neither were the other cast members who were forced to live in the same house as both cast mates. The same token could be said in respect to Ayiiia, because she has not been portrayed very saintly either.
I do not think that I am Ayiiia. What Ayiia said to Emilee about being adopted is horrible. I am not upset that Joey said that to Ayiiia. I am upset that Joey said those things at all. Emilee and Jasmine can be friends with Joey and that's cool.
MTV can't edit Joey saying to Ayiiia "Where's your knife?" or posting nasty signs. He did those things and that is why I dislike him.
I am not a Katelynn fan but what he said to her was just nasty and evil.

But Joey didn't tell CJ, Bronne, Jasmine, or Emilee to go home or to cut themselves. Joey didn't throw lit cigarettes at them or spit in their tacos. CJ and Bronne clearly didn't like Ayiiia on the show either. They were also friends with Joey from day one and were enablers in his "get rid of Ayiiia" game. They were just his followers as far as I'm concerned.
And I don't see a problem with judging him based on the edit. The edit is what I see of him, so that's what I have to go off. He signed up for this. Not to mention, his posts on vevmo and twitter weren't edited by MTV and those certainly haven't changed my mind towards him. And he comes off pretty terribly on the dailies.
Blaming the editing can only get a castmember so far to me, because they really did and said all of the things they did and said. Like salt&vinegar said, MTV didn't tell Joey to ask Ayiiia, a known cutter, for a knife. It's one thing to dislike a person, it's another to purposely break someone down.

Agreed, I have only judged Joey by what he has posed here or on his twitter or things he has said that were only edited by himself, like youtube vids, and sadly all my first impressions have been confirmed time and again. He is the main reason I stopped watching Cancun after the second ep, so I can't be blamed for judging him on his edit by BMP since I haven't even seen much of it. I actually think he is a disgrace to New Engalnders, myself being one also, and hope he enjoys his 15mins while they last because I for one never want to see him on my TV again.
Ayiiia should have been the one kicked off if anything for "self mutilation". The production was mad when Ruthy from Hawaii when she drove drunk but not for Ayiiia? i think what she did was worse.
You seriously think that Ayiiia cutting herself was way worse than Ruthie endangering the lives of everyone on the island in a vehicle at the time she was driving drunk...that is really sad Ollignom. Ayiiia was hurting nobody but herself...Ruthie could have killed any person crossing the street, not to mention if she would have hit a child or pregnant woman.
I think that Ayiiia and Joey both had faults but Joey's actions got him kicked off the show and Ayiiia's didn't so all this arguing back and forth is not helping or harming either cast mate.
He was a guest on "It's on with Alexa Chung" today and he said that he prefers quantity over quality because it's just a game of numbers. I wish he would just stop popping up places.

Amen. Please never do a challenge, either. We all know you would get your butt handed to you by the veteran alpha males and probably a good portion of the women, too.

I am not blaming anything or anybody on an edit. What I am saying is overall, the majority of his fellow cast members will stick up for Joey and have stayed friends with him. If he was such a disgusting horrible person why would they do that? Maybe there is a reason for it, and maybe its because they actually know him. I don't, you don't (unless you do and he rubbed you the wrong way in public as well). I just believe in not judging a book by its cover. I also believe in not pointing fingers at people unless someone's hands are perfectly clean (that Bob Marley was quite the intellectual). It's ironic how we all sit here and judge the **** out of Joey for saying the stuff he says when I am sure half of us have said or done something equally nasty. If you haven't, then awesome. Stay on that path and don't stray from it.
I don't agree with some of his statements he has made in the heat of the moment or for other purposes, but at least he is being real. That's how he is, that's what he thinks. He didn't believe Ayiiia was a cutter, and he had past experiences with friends who cut themselves and experienced a pattern that wasn't like Ayiiia's story at all. I doubt he goes around calling all blatant cutters the things he said to Ayiiia. Fact is, he didn't believe her and thought she was trying to get attention. It was awfully wrong, and hurtful to hear, but I don't think he is devil because he made a few comments to try and provoke someone he thought was faking and crying for attention.
I don't know, I could have this debate for days. He has a different in your face personality who speaks his mind however rude it may be. He goes hard and low in terms of comments and respect to those he is fighting with or dislikes (judging by Ayiiia scenario, and his words towards Kate from Brooklyn). But as an opposition- his cast members like him for a reason. They lived with him, we didn't. We see a very skewed version of what these people could be like.

I think that is going overboard. He isn't disgracing me. I think Emilee would share the same affections as I do to your statement there. The same could be said for the blatant overly judgmental state going on here.
He is the main reason I stopped watching Cancun after the second ep, so I can't be blamed for judging him on his edit by BMP since I haven't even seen much of it.
Lucky for you, you can start watching again.
Some who on more than one occasion uses derogatory words and slurs disgraces me no matter where they are from. It just hurts me more as a fellow New Englander that he gives such a bad impression of someone from that area by using such hateful words unapologetically.

Joey's from New England? I thought he was doing an impression.

There are people around the United States who use derogatory words and slurs, and throws around hateful words and may not be sorry for them. How do you think the South feels? Point is - people are jerks everywhere and all over. This isn't a Miss America Pageant and he is not Carrie Prejean.

Do I think the South feels bad for generally getting a bad rap as a typically hateful place? Yes, especially since I have relatives and friends from the South that are anything but. I know people are jerks all over and I know he is not supposed to embody all the is good and holy, but it doesn't make me want to give him less slack and just brush away many comments that I see has disgusting and hateful. Personally I feel the things he has said are just as bad, even worse than the things Carrie Prejean has said. But I am over talking about him, I don't want to waste anymore breath discussing why I think he is a person I never need or want to know. I am sure he wouldn't want to meet me either.

On the contrary, judging by not knowing him at all, I can imagine he would be quite pleased that yet another person dislikes him for the mean things his mouth spews. I'm sure he could always go write a song about it.

For the record, my blaming the editing wasn't meant to be directed at you, but moreso at cast members of the show in general.
I'm not a perfect person, but I know I have never done anything as bad as what Joey did in the house. I just think things would be different he showed any semblance of remorse for what he did. He said "I was willing to be a d!ck because I wanted her gone so we could all be happy", but that's not much of an apology or anything, to me that is him attempting to justify what he did by saying it would be better for the cast as a whole, when really he just wanted her gone. I just think he's a dirtbag. Sadly he probably prides himself on that and when he reads this he'll just see I'm giving him the attention he wants.
As far as the cutting goes, it was stupid for him to do that no matter what. He could have chosen to simply ignore it, and yes he is an "in your face" person, but he should have just ignored her if he hated her that much. But of course he had to go in her face because he has to live up to some sort of self-proclaimed "hard ***" personality. And it was stupid for him to assume all cutters have the same story. Ayiiia had no problem ignoring him, but Joey just wouldn't be ignored by her.
I know this debate will get us nowhere, but I just can't help it. I really can't stand him from watching him on TV. Oh well, at least he's gone I guess. :p
Is he still with the same "Powerpop" band or did the other band members kick him out after they got a good look at how their fellow bandie really behaves in normal society?
Is he still with the same "Powerpop" band or did the other band members kick him out after they got a good look at how their fellow bandie really behaves in normal society?
I am sure they are basking in the exposure at this point. That's just my thought though.
I am happy he did what he did to Ayiiia. maybe it showed her to actually do something about her problem rather than try to get attention.
I totally disagree. Just like you don't attack somebody for having a physical illness, you don't attack somebody for having a mental illness. It doesn't matter if Ayiiia mis-stepped and joined the show before realizing she was still unhealthy. Joey knew better. His mind was lucid, and he behaved like a moronic clown. I'm saying this as a person who had severe problems with self-destructive behaviors in the past. Even when you're in remission and underwent years of counseling, triggers still exist. It happens with any compulsive addiction or traumatic disorder. Nobody in the history of the Real World ever tried to enable somebody's illness (and no cast members ever idly sat on their hands while some ~edgy~ loser antagonized an ill person into relapsing; people even defended Pedro against Puck.)
Again, if Joey didn't give a **** about Ayiiia, he would've just ignored her. She seemed content to ignore him, provided he wasn't being an antagonizing clod. Dude has some serious issues with rejection, including sexual rejection (since he repeatedly tried to hook up with her and was spurned). Man, those grapes are sour.
Most of you want to sit and hate/bash on Joey, but if you think about it..just about every cast member besides Ayiiia is still friends with Joey and loves him? Emilee and Jasmine are continuously sticking up for him and stating their friendship. There is a reason for it.
Presumably because they're bootlicks. Honestly, they didn't even step up to the plate when they admitted that Joey's behavior was pathetic. They said it behind his back in a confessional instead of intervening in a meaningful way. What's humorous is that Ayiiia was the only one who didn't schmooze with the boys, and she's the one they despise the most. Must be a coincidence. It's pretty sad that the other ladies' concentrated efforts are mostly ignored; they still get trashed either way. The boys only seem to give a **** about the women when there's compliance, cuddling, and sexual innuendos to be made. Otherwise, the loyalty rapidly spirals down the drain and they immediately shove them into the box of "Other - Women; Don't understand them. Boys night out to get away from them!"
Look at the way Joey brutally trashed the women on the Aftershow while they were sitting backstage. "Oh, I'm so tired of living with four complaining girls!" What, did they think he was referring to Ayiiia four times? Haha.
I thought it was funny when Ayiiia gloated. Too bad Coral wasn't there with her arm draped around her. She can't be both the house scapegoat target and the delicate, soft-spoken princess with her hands daintily folded in her lap whenever the mallet of retribution is slammed. Street justice, *****!
