Real World Online Casting
First of all, total newbie, so I apologize in advance if this has been covered already. Now on to the topic! Does anyone think they'll do another online casting thing for Real World again? They're doing the Paris Hilton one right now, and from what I gather, Real World 21 is in finals of casting now, so an online competition for 21 seems unlikely... and how "legit" do you think the online competitions are?

Concerning the validity of the online competitions, there is none. They are totally rigged. This thread is an example of online polling being a toy rather then anything scientific. With Real World 20 casting it was so bad that in the early going they had some users with under 40 profile views that had over 4000 votes (and you were supposedly only allowed to vote once per day.) All you had to do was write a script to delete the "counter cookie" that MTV was using to "secure" the election and vote en masse directly to the polling software (forgoing even having to load the page.) Since they got stuck with Bozo the Clown, they might never do it again (although I would not put it past them.)
Since they got stuck with Bozo the Clown, they might never do it again.
That sucks, though, because I see your point as to why they might never do it again. The competition was a lot of fun, some people just took it way too seriously... ahh well, it was fun while it lasted.
So Real World has picked one cast member for RW20 and RW22 using online voting. Will this be used again? and if so will it be for RW24? Do you like the online casting/cast members chosen?
Do you like the online casting/cast members chosen?
Considering that the two online people chosen are completely different, I say absolutely not to the tool, and so far, so good to Ayiiia.
Ayiiia so far is great. He who must not be named was... I'm not even gonna say what he is. Well, They did it for Hollywood and skipped Brooklyn, and did it for Cancun and skipped D.C. So my guess would be yes, they will do it for 24.

Thoughts on the process? Thoughts on RW20 online winner: he who must not be named? Thoughts on RW22 winner: Ayiiia (so far)? Will they do this contest again... maybe for RW24?

I think if BMP casts on their own, then it could make way for more interesting additions to the show. But so far Ayiiia is great so I wouldn't mind if they continue the process. He who must not be named, no doubt was an ******* but I thought he was a very good addition to the Hollywood season. Most of the drama revolved around him which of course, brought in the big ratings that Hollywood recieved. Ayiiia is a kind sweet person so far but I just recently watched one of the dailies and I really did not like the attitude that she gave Joey. From the looks of the trailers/previews most of the drama might revolve around her as well. But so far, I like Ayiiia. The online process was done in Hollywood, not done in Brooklyn, took part in Cancun, and was not done in D.C. So I think there is a bit of a trend or pattern with the process. I predict that the online voting will be included in Season 24.
I think its funny that when they do online casting we get better castmembers than when BMP chooses. He who shall not be named was great and was probably the best castmember on the show in a long time and BMP did not cast him. I think BMP no longer has a clue at casting.

I think Online Casting is a very shaky idea/process altogether, but in some cases it could really work out, like with Ayiiia.

I will admit that He Who Shall Not Be Named brought most of the entertainment, he was a complete waste, and a jerk at that too.
He brought most of the drama too by being the bad guy.

Stealing somebodies underwear and putting bloody napkins in people's bed is not entertainment. He was a ********* and nothing more. Anybody who goes around calling themselves the chosen one is a complete joke. It was funny the first episode, and then it just got lame.

Sure what he did was pointless, but saying he added nothing would me a lie. But onto the topic, I think they will continue the Online Casting, because then it gives them the advantage of having to cast one person less.

I tried the online thing the first time around and just didn't get it. I wasn't about to spend all day on there begging people for votes. I gave up on it. There were so many people promising a vote for vote, which sorta defeated the purpose. Plus they never seemed to follow through on their promises. Not sure how the second one worked out since I didn't even realize they were doing online casting again.
