Grey's Episodes 523/4: Here's to the Future / Now or Never
FINALE!! How is it I am so excited and so sad at the same time?! Ooooh we've made it through another year at Seattle Grace, and I must say, with the exception of a few things (*cough*dead Denny*cough*), I've really enjoyed this season. Not just the stories, but the actors especially. Tonight!
In the first part, entitled "Here's to the Future" (9:00-10:00 p.m.), Izzie spends time with a fellow cancer patient and contemplates whether or not to undergo a risky surgery, as Mark is ready to take his relationship with Lexie to the next level and a patient makes Owen reassess his place at Seattle Grace. In the second part, "Now or Never" (10:00-11:00 p.m.), George delivers stunning news to Bailey, sending shockwaves throughout the hospital, and Izzie's friends anxiously await her recovery from surgery. Meanwhile Bailey is surprisingly displeased after being accepted into the pediatric fellowship program, and the victim of a near-fatal traffic accident brings the talents of Seattle Grace's doctors together.
WILL Izzie and or George be leaving?! WILL Mer Der go through with a wedding? WILL I be able to calm down today? We'll all find out tonight! See you then, on the 5th season finale of Grey's Anatomy. :)

Why do I somehow doubt it's going to be sooooo far from that? And I heard what the "stunning news" is that George gives Bailey, although I'm kind of confused as to why George is delivering it...
LoL I like her too! And I'd looooooove to see Wicked!
It's sooooooo good! I saw it in LA so I didn't get to see her :( Here's a spoiler for tonight straight from the Ausiello files:
A longtime Grey's duo are about to break up -- presumably for good -- and it's not Derek and Meredith. Nope. It's Bailey and Tucker! In the May 14 season finale, Bailey takes the bold step of leaving her husband after he once again fails to support her career.

Oh, I have heard that too...bummer.

I thought they were already broken up. Guess I won't be too bummed then, lol.
Haha, so behind on the times B!
Haha, so behind on the times B!
It is not like this is in integral storyline. I mean, we've seen the guy like 6 times in 5 years for a total of like 8 minutes, lol.
It is not like this is in integral storyline. I mean, we've seen the guy like 6 times in 5 years for a total of like 8 minutes, lol.
Yeah but Shonda (is that her name??) seems to think it is for some reason.
Yeah but Shonda (is that her name??) seems to think it is for some reason.
Maybe Bailey and George can finally get together...we all know he is her favorite ;)
Maybe Bailey and George can finally get together...we all know he is her favorite ;)
not unless...
she likes a military man since that is where I hear George is headed

not unless...
she likes a military man since that is where I hear George is headed

True. He's been kinda weird the last couple of episodes. But they're going to tie him off in 2 hours? Just doesn't seem like it would happen. But I guess you never know.

I'm so nervous. I love this show, but if Izzie dies....I just don't know. Katherine Heigl is my favorite and she's the reason I started watching this show in the first place!
True. He's been kinda weird the last couple of episodes. But they're going to tie him off in 2 hours? Just doesn't seem like it would happen. But I guess you never know.
I am thinking Owen will pull a few strings to get him onto a surgical team out there maybe, instead of George enlisting, BUT I don't know if that is possible in real life...although doesn't mean it can't happen on Grey's though, LOL.

How else would he just up and go? I don't know if it's possible in real life either...then again, we are watching fictional television!!

Does anyone know if they are already filming the next season?

Maybe IMDB will be able to tell you...but I don't know if they show filming statuses for television shows.
OH EM GEE (I know, I know I over use it but it totally applies to tonight's eppy's.) I don't want to say anything else until I know I won't spoil it for anyone.
Damn, that was actually a pretty good finale. Not sure if I should use a happy smiley or a sad one, though!
WOW. So my jaw had to be picked up from the floor after Meredith figured out who the bus accident patient was. I didn't see that one coming at all.

What? WHAT?! It's late, I'll elaborate tomorrow...Wow.....
Whew so I finally just watched this episode *dries tears*. Someone, please give Justin Chambers an Emmy. I agree what a GREAT episode. Sad to see another season end but really excited (nervous!) for tonight.
I was going to post right after I saw it, but I am glad I waited (As I had the knives out.) This was a well crafted, absolutely amazing and touching episode that ended in an infuriating manner. I had recorded the two hours on my DVR and was going to put it off until today, but decided that I better watch as I'd open up all my feeds tomorrow and catch the "IZZY IS DEAD" headline from somewhere out of the corner of my eye.

Izzy & Sloan, although somewhat background characters this week, were the comic relief. Actually, beyond the Chief plot to steal Bailey with the Divinci, there were not many light moments and this was an all business episode.
Derek & Mer had the perfect wedding! Only took three clicks of the little curved arrow pointing to the right on my remote (i.e. about 1:30.) The reason I hesitated watching in the first place is I was scared they would dedicate 45 minutes to Merder googly eyes.
Arizona and Callie actually kind of worked this week. Especially the final scene where Arizona talked about why she thought George going to Iraq was, "Awesome." That was a very touching scene.
Alex was a huge ****ole though out, but we know him well enough to know he does it for love (mostly) and that is just how he is. I think this meaty script should land Justin Chambers a good movie role or two.
Katherine Hiegl was amazing as Izzy and will be an Emmy shoe in for the role.
Finally something to smile about between Owen and Christina!
I was on the edge of my seat as Izzy went into the elevator and when I saw George meeting her in the uniform I could, um..er...feel my allergies acting up. Damn weed pollen!
I thought the last 15 minutes were gut wrenching and powerful, yet I am left with one feeling: INFURIATION. How could they leave us hanging on all fronts? I was left with the feeling that instead of writing us a season finale, they were covering all their bases and leaving loophole room for contract negotiations. I understand that cliffhangers are how shows like this roll, but this was above and beyond what I can generally tolerate. I'm not happy. Good cliffhangers are where the season thread ends and you get a shocking a new direction. Bad cliffhangers are where fans give their heart and soul to an entire season and get "to be continued." We waited all year for this to play out and we didn't get anything in return other than a four month wait to get the result. I'm spoiling this ****. I don't care...

I was on the edge of my seat as Izzy went into the elevator and when I saw George meeting her in the uniform I could, um..er...feel my allergies acting up. Damn weed pollen!

I completely agree with your entire post but seeing Izzie get on that elevator and then seeing George in his dress uniform whent he doors opened about Killed me. I am very ashamed to say that from the moment we found out who John Doe was I started screaming and crying like a baby. I haven't really liked him lately but it took me back to good ole loveable George from the very beginning of the show. I really hope neither of them actually get killed off...I will probably go on strike if Izzie leaves though. Justin AND Katherine deserve Emmy's for this. I did notice Izzies eyelids fluttering a tiny bit, but I can't decide if that was Katherine unalbe to hold them still OR if it was a part of the script.
Just watched the last 45 min of this episode...holy crap! I was also not expecting that at all. This was a very touching episode on all parts. One question: how did Meredith get George from him writing 007 on her hand? I was wondering why she freaked out so badly. TR looked kinda hot in uniform...just me? And Justin always looks good. I agree with B...the last 15 minutes were extremely powerful, yet I HATED the ending cliffhanger. Maybe the "loophole" is that they'll bring them back to life, as they never showed them TOD'd.

Ok, here we go. Maybe I'm just looking at this the wrong way, but I did not see last night as a cliffhanger, I saw it as George and Izzie both died, so i'm going to write my response to this ep as if they did. Izzie has been battling this illness all season give or take, and if you'd have asked me a week or two ago if she would die by the end of this season my answer would have been, "yeah, there's no way she'll make it". So, I was kinda prepared for that, I'll admit. But why in the name of Denny (who had a similar demise with this back and forth will he or won't he crap) do we have to watch two hours of Izzie going into surgery, recovering, OMG she has her memory back, maybe it'll be okay, then, CRASH. Shonda has done that before and I think it's a cheap shot. If you're going to kill her, do it halfway through the episode and get it over with, then let us have some closure watching everyone else deal with it. (Maybe that's just me). George. I also have no idea how Mer got "George" from 007. And I thought about it people, I thought about it. Unexpected? Hell yeah, especially with the double whammy that was Izzie. Now, realistically....would he have been brought in and NO ONE knew it was him? NO. He must have had ID on him, a wallet, his backpack, something, and in the real world when stuff like that goes down the first thing the paramedics to do is survey the street to see who this person that just got hit was, where his wallet is, etc....I know it's a show, but that's just so far ****** fetched. Those are my two biggest beefs right now and I'm honestly just so upset about the whole damn outcome of this season that all the other stories going on just escape me. Another note: The DaVinci robot is truly AMAZING!! We have one in our O.R and we're the only hospital this part of the state that does robotic surgeries. I've seen it, and it's just as cool as they made it out to be! It's something a lot of people don't know about so it's neat that they kind of promoted it. It's funny that they called theirs Leo, here we call ours Mr. Roboto ;) That's all I can think of to say for now, I'm sure there's more, but I'll feed off of your guys' responses. :D
