I'm trying not to nitpick, but I am. The guy playing Judd seems stoned, and the actress playing Pam looks Korean, not Chinese!
It's interesting that you say that. My first thought was that the actress that plays Pam much more closely resembles Janet from Seattle (was she not Korean American?) in terms of face shape, eyes, etc. . .. She looks nothing like Pam. At least the guy that played Puck looks way better than the real Puck though lol.
I'm starting to see why they handed marketing off to the RW Brooklyn cast for a last minute pet project, I think they must've known that this movie wasn't that great. Than again for an MTV movie it's not the worst they've done - that honor probably goes to the Real World Lost Season. Nevertheless it's kind of terrible, I would've rather they did a documentary and used stock footage/photos/interviews maybe insert some reinactments vs doing it this way. I'm finding the part about Pedro's life in Cuba and his family interactions to be more interesting though.

Why aren't you just watching to watch or doing it for your own enjoyment? I've never heard of someone say they're watching something for ratings.

Unless one is in a Nielsen household (with the neat box to record/transmit your viewing habits--including ****), it doesn't matter if you watch or not. You don't get counted. It's all statistical analysis based on a sample audience.

That lost season was horrible. I remember watching it thinking it was really going to be a season of the RW. LOL.
I'm sorry! I'm embarrassed to admit I don't know who's what gender on here, save for the mods.
Its okay, thats not the first time its happened on here. :)

Me too! I think they marketed it that way, or maybe I was just really stupid hahaha. That movie was god awful terribleness, this one looks like an Oscar contender compared to that one.
The scenes with Pedro and Shawn are actually cute.
I may be wrong by what I saw, but did anybody else see The real Pam and Judd walk down the stairs in one of the earlier scenes? I could totally have been mistaking though.

It probably was, since I heard they were going to make a cameo in it. I missed it, though.
Thanks.
Back to the movie: The actress playing Mily is the only one who seems able to act. She, unlike everyone else I've seen, has emotions!
The actress who played Mily has acted before. I remember her mostly from Final Destination 2. Here's her IMDB, if interested: Justina Machado
Anyway, back onto topic...I'm getting bothered how the film keeps going from one part in time (his audition), to another (9 months before his time on the show), to when ever, and then back into time (to his life in Miama before he found out he has AIDS.
WOW, they even remade the intro of the season in the film... Couldn't they just put the regular intro? But on second thought the cast members won't look like the actors.. I really expected more out of this movie but I don't like it that much. The actors were poor except for the one that acted Mily. And the way it was made wasn't what I really liked either. It would've been better if it was a documentary like someone stated above.
They didn't try to make the actor playing Pedro's dad look like his dad. I remember his dad being small and thin with white hair and glasses. This man's kind of round and bald with a goatee!
It's almost over, and then the Brooklyn finale will be on. I'm hanging on...
this movie was cool as ****. The actor playing sean looked a hot ghetto mess. the rest of the cast looked liked them but i didnt see much of Rachel or Mohammed's actors.
On one hand I enjoyed the film and on another hand I disliked it. I was surprised in the ways that it showed The Real World is staged and especially since BMP was making the film. I enjoyed the parts about the behind the scenes of casting and making the show. I did not enjoy the limited showing of the show but only the main points that everyone remembers and the limited interaction Pedro had with Pam and Judd only from the cast.
After watching the limited clips, even with actors, got me interested in wanting to see the early seasons again! Like 2-9 please release them on DVD!!!
I haven't watched the whole movie yet, only parts. But having just re-watched all of the season, it was clear that they changed some of the "reality" to make for a storyline. BUT I have no idea if any of it is true or not.
Example: Did Puck really call Pedro "AIDS boy"? If so, man that uncalled for.
Also, when he and Judd are in their room and Judd tells him that he cares a lot for Pam....did his feelings really start during the season? I would not be surprised, but at the same time she was in a relationship and they all seemed like pretty good friends. So much so that Judd surprised Pam with her boyfriend on her birthday, and they would all 3 hang out together. Very bizarre.

I wouldn't be surprised if this was true. Judd was justifiably angry at Puck at the Reunion: Inside Out (the big one with the first four seasons), saying that Puck said "Good riddance!" when Pedro passed. I would not be surprised if the "AIDS boy" comment were true because all I've seen of Puck is vile and crass behavior.

I also wouldn't be surprised if this were true either. Judd seems like the kind of guy who although he can't have someone would do all he can to be a true friend and endear himself that person. Didn't they say in one episode that if Pam fell asleep on the couch he'd either put a blanket over her or help her into her bed? That's cute.
There was a lot going on last night (well mostly AI lol) so I had to dvr this movie and I just finished watching. I was quite impressed actually. While I would've preferred to see a film version of the book Pedro and Me, the way they tell the story in this movie is really moving.
I see people here complaining that the characters look nothing like the real castmembers but that's something that did not bothered me at all. Even the fact that the main actor looks nothing like Pedro and they picked the stereotypical dark skinned latino to portrait Pedro even though Pedro was light skinned didn't bother me either. None of these details can bother me when after watching the movie I feel like they did a good job in capturing the essence of the message that Pedro spread throughout his life. To me that's what really matters here.
The only thing I would've changed but that's just me, was that I would've liked the actor who played Pedro to have a stronger accent and this is just because I feel like Pedro's think accent was an important part of who he was and an attention grabber in all those speeches he gave. I remember his very peculiar way of saying that he was HIV "puhtive".

The actor's accent came and went. The real Pedro did have that very distinctive Cuban accent.

I just saw the movie today, sorry for being behind but Yes, that infact was Judd and Pam walking down the stairs with their son.
Maybe I'm wrong but I thought there was another cameo with Rachel and her husband Sean (RW: Boston) and their children walking past Pedro and Sean in the park when they were kissing.
I tried watching it today but it was sooo boring. I'll have to try again the next time it airs. I did make me wanna start watching this season of TRW on MTV.com now though. Its been years since I seen it.
A couple of things that irrated me about the movie. One is the fact the house was nothing like the original house. Two is the lack of reality: Pedro telling Rachel to wait for camera guy to get a new tape, the delay for entering the house until director says ready, Pedro saying lets go find the cameras so he can show off his book. There were others but just annoying.

Pam looked pregnant?!
