I am sad it is all going to end soon :( I really liked this season a lot.
At least we have the Duel 2!!!! This season was very good in the begining, then I felt myself drifting away from it. I think they need to stick to 7 people (I know they won't) I also enjoy some fights/drinking/making out. There was not enough of that this season.
so they are ripping off hollywood now with a big fight at the end?
Yes, that was our whole intention. We went to that bar specifically to pick a fight with people so we could be like Real World: Hollywood, even though the last half of their episodes were airing while we were beginning production. We wanted so desperately to be like them, you have figured us out. :bottom: I love how everyone is an expert on other people's private finances. Seriously. First off, Scott did GIVE me the money, and the money went to bills way before we even found out we were going to Atlantic City. We received money every week as part of our "Story Rights" and that was the money I used to gamble with. And, just for clarification, once the check was cashed it ceased being Scott's money. Period. Scott even said to me, later, that he gave me the money so that I could stay and continue my experience in the Real World house... which included the AC trip. I walked away from Atlantic City winning $200, by the way - and yes, JD is a rat-faced treacherous liar because I never asked him for the time of day, let alone to borrow money. I was up $600 within the first 4 hours of our 48 hour vacation. I was up $800 by hour 8. I suppose I could have just given Scott the money and then hung around with Devyn, doing nothing for the remainder of our vacation. That would have been swell... then Mrs. Cleaver would have visited and baked us pie. Yummy, yummy cherry pie. For anyone who has ever gambled, you need to bet big to win big. A lot of my earnings came from doubling down on a $200 bet. There's a fluctuation when you spend any amount of time gambling, sometimes you're up, sometimes you're down; I needed my house money as collateral. Regardless, even if I had won eleventy-billion dollars, I still don't see how it was Chet, Ryan, and JD's business how I allocate my funds. LOL Katelynn, I love you!
No. I wasn't saying you guys were picking the fight Katelynn. I just found it odd. I guess I have high expectations when it comes to certain things RW related.

I understand the arguments that you are on a reality television show and along with that comes a certain "celebrity." Where do you draw the line? It seems as if there are people who seem to think that they are inside your head and have been right there with you at these situations, simply because of what they are shown on television. I appreciate you taking your time and responding to us! I hope all has gone well for you since the ending of the show. I hope to see you on a challenge SOON!!!! Ohh and I love your response to The Real World Hollywood, I believe there is no comparison.

It seems to me that Scott should have the last word on this subject, if there is to be anything critical to be said.
I'm never one to be a Scott defender, especially after seeing his dailies about Devyn. Seeing the way he acted there, it's hard to believe it's the same person you see on the episodes. But I don't understand why Katelynn is callous when it comes to Scott. Katelynn, I really hope you watch the aftershow when Scott says nice things about you. If Katelynn had missed one of the girls bday parties, I'm sure she would be apologetic. Or if one the girls had given her the money, she would be more careful about spending it and getting it back. Its seems that she values those relationships, but why not Scott? I don't want this post to come as judgemental, because I'm just curious why Katelynn is so casual when it comes to her relationship with Scott?
Not sure if I'm looped in with the PHD-people, but I just want to clarify for the record that I personally never addressed WHY Katelyn gambled, nor do I think she has any type of "addiction". I love gambling. My personal "addiction" lately is scratch tickets. Also, turns out I was right in my original post. She DID spend the money as intended, she DID use her own money in AC and JD IS full of :poo:. But Katelyn, have you paid Scott back (or do you still plan to)? I can see why you would want to even though you don't HAVE to, per se. I'm with V1 that Scott should have the final word in the matter, regarding whether or not it is a big deal. Edit: Regarding my first sentence--not that I think everything is always about *me*. I realize others were speculating about the allure of gambling, and I just hope my post didn't come across that way as well.

Just because she wasn't heartbroken about it, because she NEEDED to work, doesn't mean she didn't care about it. Yeah Katelynn might have been sadder about missing Devyn's or Baya's party than Scott's, but maybe the girls would have been more compassionate about her needing to work and missing their party than Scott was to begin with, who knows? Katelynn also already said that the money Scott gave her went straight to the bills she needed to pay off and that the money she spent at AC was the money they were given as a stipend for being on the show. Plus, she used that money, her OWN money, to try and win enough to pay back Scott. I don't really see any of that as being "callous" towards him.
I believe the episodes went from Awesome to bad to mediocre and BACK AWESOME AGAIN! Wow the episodes are getting much better. This was my favorite episode. I'll be watching next week. :D
My final say on the matter is Katelynn and I are friends. I helped my friend out when she was in need. All I expect in return is her to continue to be my friend because I know she would do the same for me. I don't think the there should be so much drama just because there was "money" involved. You can't put a price on friendship. PS: Katelynn was trying to win the money back for me in AC even though I told her she didn't need to. Scott, very nice of you to say. You are obviously a good guy for these girls to still have nice things to say about you and you still live with two of them. I take what's shown with a grain of salt. Thanks for your input.

Thanks, Scott. It is a shame that BMP didn't take the time to explore the depth of your friendship with Katelynn, instead choosing to exploit the smaller things like dirty dishes that only make the friendship more compelling -- just like most strong friendships are in the "real world."
It's amazing how I've gone from thinking that Chet was super cool to being so annoyed by everything he says. He's just so nosy and so judgmental. It's like he always has something to say about everything but cannot take any criticism at all when its directed towards him. Now as for Ryan, call me insensitive but I'm a little over how much the fact that he's being deployed has been featured on the show. Yes, I commend him for his work and all, but what he's doing is simply his JOB (although the pay for someone who's in the military is not that good the on-the-side benefits, specially for someone who wants to go to college, are actually quite good), a job that he signed up for voluntarily and knowing exactly what he was up for. Don't take me wrong, I do realize the risks associated to his job but I don't agree with the notion that I have to basically bow at him simply because he's doing the job he chose to do. Not to mention that I don't think that this war has anything to do with American liberties so I dont think that the whole "owing our freedom to our soldiers" thing apply here. With this said, I wish him the best and hope he makes it back. As for Kate having gambled while in AC, well they were in AC, what else they expected her to do? She's been shown playing cards at the house a few times and she's admitted she's a bit of a geek so yeah... I don't see how it was Ryan and Chet's business what she decided to do with HER money. Idk, I get the feeling that these 2 are more critical of Kate's actions than they are of anyone else in the house and it really annoys me.
I disagree with a couple of things in your comment. I think that they go after Devyn the most in the house. Ryan did volunteer for the army but it is still heartbreaking for him to go back and see all of that violence in his surroundings again. He did know what was coming for him but still he fears that he might not come back. As for next week's episode, I saw the preview and there is alot of fighting (out of nowhere). I would've liked it better if they left on good terms

I am late to the game, but I have honestly been avoiding this episode of the RW this week. But...with all the comments here about the AC trip, I sucked it up and watched it. Not because I don't like this season (love you guys that get on vevmo!), but I have mentioned before that my husband just enlisted in the military and it has to started to hit me that this could be him very soon being deployed. It really touched me how Ryan reacted, and I would be happy to have my husband serving with him. I am also so glad that both Katelynn and Scott have commented on the happenings of this episode, as I think it is unfair for us to pass judgement on the deal between them with the money. As far as I am concerned, if they are both okay then I am okay with it. And I enjoyed seeing a bit more of Baya and her sense of humor. Sorry about the loss of your kidney and first born child!

It hits home for me too Needsalife. *gives hugs*
Okay, I'm back. I tried to just mind my own business, but it's really hard to. First of all, I don't purposely come on here looking for trouble; I just call people out, when I feel like they're either not being truthful, or not taking responsibility for their actions. Now, Last time I was here, I went on a rampage against the woman in the house. I can gladly say, since then, I have cooled down, and I actually like Sara, and Baya. Though Sara has her flaws, and I didn't like the way she acted towards JD in the Rivalry episode, I feel like, she would back you up, or be there for you in a heartbeat, even if she didn't like you. I think JD is the exact same way. Devyn; she's okay. I bring this up, because I don't want people to think I'm just being biased against the girls. My only issue today is with Kateyln. Since the second half of the season., I always felt weird about her. I get very negative vibes from her. And this last episode clenched that feeling. Now remember, this is my opinion, but I think Katelyn is extremely selfish. Every episode it gets worse. She's always negative when people try to tell her to clean up; not only that, am I the only one who realized that almost every post in here by Katelyn, is just negative, or defensive? Just last week she attacks’ the show for giving Ryan more air time, when Katelyn has had 4 or 5 episodes mainly focused on her. I love how people are trying to find a way to blame Scott, when he's the one who helped her. Not only was he generous enough to give her 1500 dollars just to stay in the house, he did it after she missed his birthday, which she knew about for a month, for a job that she only had for 3 days, before she quit, (at least that's what it looks like.), then doesn't even apologize for it. What does Scott do in retaliation, he gives her 1500 dollars to stay in the house, so she can finish this experience. How does Kateyln repay him?, with a non enthusiastic hug, and gambling like an addict at AC. I don't even really need to talk about this recent episode. It's self explanatory. I couldn't believe my eyes. I'll just leave it there. You don't even see many people in here defending those actions, because how can you defend that? How? What bugged me the most though, was her response on this board, another negative attack. Her remarks on this board stunned me.
"We received money every week as part of our "Story Rights" and that was the money I used to gamble with."
That money should have gone directly to Scott. If a friend gave me 1500 dollars to stay in the house, and I'm getting free money from producers, just to talk, I would given what ever I could to Scott, Instead of trying to gamble it, that's just common sense.
"I suppose I could have just given Scott the money and then hung around with Devyn, doing nothing for the remainder of our vacation. That would have been swell... then Mrs. Cleaver would have visited and baked us pie. Yummy, yummy cherry pie."
So once again , it's all about you, having a good time. I thought you were playing for Scott (sarcasm). The answer is yes. You should have given him the 800, and went and done something else. So, you wouldn't get to have fun anymore, guess what, that's life. I can give you a full list of fun things I had to give up in order to pay back debt to friends and family. It's common. "And, just for clarification, once the check was cashed it ceased being Scott's money. Period. " WOW!!!!!, That's all I have to say. Now, I'm sure I'll get banned for this, even though I have seen worse attacks on JD on this board, but I guess that's just how it goes. I wish people would stop trying to defend people just because they like them, and try to think on their own, rationally. And I wish people like myself would stop getting punished for being an independent, free thinker. I am a liberal, and I voted for Obama. But does that mean , I agree with everything he says or does, No. I disagree with some of the things he's doing, and I let it be known. Same thing should apply here. Well, that's all I have to say for now, Guess I'll either see you a year from now, or maybe never.

First of all, I believe it is no one's place to judge a resolved issue like the money situation. No one was harmed, it is their buisness to be upset about how it was used. Both parties have made statements that everything is good between them, no hard feelings or grudges. As for her tone on the boards, I enjoy her comments. She definately has her own voice, and has a sarcastic sense of humor, but that all makes her who she is. I think we tend to forget that these 8 people were living their lives on camera, and have to have all of the good and the bad out there. I thank Katelynn and all the other cast members for letting us into their lives...it makes my night every Wednesday!

I understand you dont approve of the war, but please keep the hostility to the soldiers at a minimum, these KIDS were told they were fighting for "our liberties and freedom" when they signed up. and the "RISKS" involved with his job? puleeze you make it sound as if maybe he could break a nail. The "RISKS" are death or losing a limb, a little harsher than just the word "RISKS" no?
Boomtown, I concur with everything you said 100% ...well, almost everything. The person on the show who I have the most issues with, you seem to now be indifferent towards. :)
Ryan signed up for his "JOB" when he was 18 years old, after he was emotional about 9/11 and now is behlden to that "JOB" until 2010, ... whens the last time you signed up for a job based on emotions and had to sign a contract for 10 years? The "RISKS" are death or losing a limb, a little harsher than just the word "RISKS" no?
I don't come on this board to talk about random events that are unrelated to the show. When I comment about something I only do as it relates to the show and I usually try to put it into context. With this said, I am not being hostile towards our soldiers. My message was solely in the context of me not approving with the way the fact that Ryan went to Iraq and is now being re-deployed has been featured on the show. To me the whole thing has been blown out of proportion and I personally would've liked to see less of Ryan's story. I cannot stop seeing what he's doing as a job that he willingly signed up for. Lastly, risks mean risks and I am not making it sound like anything. I wish Ryan the best but I personally didn't want to see so much of his story. Call me insensitive but his story is not very appealing to me.
The main theme of the episode was the trip to Atlantic City, which occurred because of Ryan's recall. Prior to the trip it was necessary to show Ryan's announcement to each of the roommates about his recall. So most of the episode was appropriately directly or indirectly about Ryan. There were some other scenes thrown in like the purchase of the dog and Katelynn's gambling, but I was able to fast forward on the DVR to see just Ryan's reactions to those things. As a Ryan fan, I'm happy with the episode's focus. I like the other cast members also as they are able to provide commentary on the Ryan story lines.
