Devyn couldn't do that because she wasn't allowed on the casino floor, being underage at the time.
Ya that was NO Fun!!! Especially since my relaxing bath and comfy nap were disturbed by dumb and dumber.... but it's ok.. I have since crossed over to the legal side....(even though I'm still not big on drinking)
So why did they show that it came from some canine rescue group?
You'll never find a teacup yorkie from a rescue!
What a bunch of wimps!
Although I will always suggest people try a rescue group first, I agree it was kind of messed up to suggest that was where Devynn got hers from.

I can see both sides in the gambling with the money needed issue - Chet/Ryan's and Katelynn's.
How in the world do you see Katelynn's side?
There was a time where I was counting down the episodes and feeling sad that the season would inevitably end. Then starting around the end of episode seven, the tone of the show became very melancholic with the downbeat music and the autumnal scenes and I was more sad. Now with the Ryan redeployment episodes it's full on crying every Wednesday night. For this reason I will actually be glad for the season to end.
The truth of the Ryan situation is distressing enough, but the production has done well in their amplification of the anguish.

Because she mentioned that it would be great if she could win some money and pay Scott back. If she would have used some of the money to gamble and would have doubled or tripled what she used, she would have still had money to use to pay for her bills and personal things AND be able to pay Scott some money back.
I do agree that it was best she keep the money and not gamble it, but I could understand what she was thinking. That's all.

If Im correct, she said that she was 600 up. If I was her, I would of gave Scott 500 and tell him I was going to use the other 100 to try and win more money.
Another great episode. When the hell did The Real World get real again? Editing problems and issues aside, this has been an awesome season of the show (and I'm still bothered by the next season being held in Cancun).
Can't wait to see the last ep and reunion next week.
AND I remember when someone posted that ghetto video of the cast talking to the cops. And all we saw was a tattooed girl and we had no idea who she was! That was a while ago when we were still speculating the season. Looks like we get to see what happens with that next week.
I don't get why fights have to occur every season? If The Real World came to a city near me, I'd just want to drink my face off with the cast...not punch them!

I guess I understand her reasons, but I still think it was absolutely irresponsible for her not pay Scott back even a fraction of what she won as soon as she had it.

Concur 100%
One thing that surprised me was that Ryan's last name was used uncensored. Last names are usually covered up although I never did understand why they did that since the last names end up making it to printed publications anyway. As a matter of fact earlier this season someone was reading something that shows a cast member's full name and the last name was blurred out.
Do any of the insiders know what the legal mumbo jumbo regarding the last names is?

In retrospect, I'm sure Katelyn wishes she had done that. But that's the lure of gambling, to keep pushing and trying to win more, even when you are losing. If that wasn't how most people behaved in casinos, they probably wouldn't exist.
While I was watching I couldn't help thinking Katelyn was in a tough spot for this vacation. If she shopped, went to spas, went drinking and fine dining, it was alll going to be judged based on the fact that she had taken money from Scott. I can't help but imagine they probably had an agreement on the money and how (if at all) it would be paid back. The money Scott gave her probably went on bills long ago. The money she gambled was probably earned afterward and she felt it was hers to spend as she saw fit.
Kudos for Scott for not saying anything. I wish Chet and JD could have done the same.
Great episode, it seems like the season went by super fast, then again this is my first time really watching a full season since they switched to the hour format.
Hmmmm, regarding Katelynn, me thinks it was the allure of the gambling combined with the desire to pay Scott off the entire amount that probably spurred her on to keep going. There is definitely a reason why they have gamblers anonymous, I've hit the Native American casino circuit with my Aunt a few times and that stuff is crazy addictive, I think they even mentioned Scott dropped 3 "bones" (I don't know how much that is) there himself. I agree that it probably would've been more prudent for Katelynn to give Scott some of the money she was up. On the other hand when Scott gave Katelynn the money as far as we saw there was no time table given or strings/stipulations attached to the gift/loan and Katelynn clearly said something along the lines not knowing when she could pay him back and he told her something like not to worry just take it. So while it would've been more responsible, it wasn't an obligation. I agree with the earlier poster, I too never lend money unless I can afford to lose it and once it's gone, I have to trust that it'll come back and let it go if it doesn't. Scott made an interesting comment that Katelynn is an adult and it's her choice to make, I thought it was a good way to look at it.
It was nice that they all banded together and went to Atlantic City to take the focus off of Ryan's redeployment, and I liked how they gave him that journal and all wrote in it, thought that was pretty cool. These last two episodes I feel like I really got see Ryan in a different light and a maturity and strength he had about him that wasn't shown earlier in the season so I enjoyed that. I believe, hope and have faith that he'll come back from Iraq in one piece, physically and mentally.
Chet is well. . .Chet. Can you really expect a higher level of behavior from something that has an "I love *******" bumper sticker on their headboard? I thought Devyn was a champ about it, but it was interesting the comparisons being made to season 2, I think it shows how much of a throw back this season is. It seems like this wouldn't have really big that huge of an issue in more recent seasons because everyone's running around butt naked anyways, it's a nice change that they were that far into the episodes and people hadn't shown everyone all their goodies. One of the reasons why I loved this season.
We all talk about not seeing enough of Baya and we haven't but it's occurred to me that I don't think we got to see a lot of Sarah either, she's definitely one of my favorite cast members and other than the episode about her father we've hardly seen her do anything other than get yelled at by the boys. It would've been nice to have seen more.
Chet's mom's voice makes me want to stab myself in the eye with a fork.
LOL...I think it is so cute when I hear it but I know if I were ever to have to hear her voice nagging me like mom's love to do I would not think it was "cute" anymore. His mom seems so sweet though :)
I was very proud of how Devyn handled being exposed by Chet's childish ways...I do wish she would have jumped up and chased him down while topeless just to freak him out a bit...play a little game of scare the virgin, LOL.
I am sad it is all going to end soon :( I really liked this season a lot.

There are no intrinsic legal reasons for not using full names. Occasionally, however, a cast member will negotiate, for personal privacy reasons, the requirement that his or her last name or other identifying information not be make available to the public by the network or production company. Some production companies believe the use of first names or even fictional names (common to 51 Minds' creations for VH1) allow more latitude for the producers to advance a substantially different character that "John Smith" would ordinarily be.
The use of first names has been around for a long time -- since the beginning of reality TV, but it is by no means is it a firm tradition. Richard Hatch (Survivor, season 1), for example, wanted his full name known because it was important to his business.
This was one of the best episodes of the season IMHO. Here are my thoughts:
Ryan - I respected him even more when he said that he would go and do his job, even though he didn't want to go back and does not agree with the whole thing. The guy is stronger than he knows. I wish he would have told Belle right away, and that might come back to haunt him later (who knows) but I can understand his reason - that is not something one says to their girlfriend over the phone.
Katelynn - I agree with a recent poster who said Kate should have given a portion of the money to Scott and then played with the rest. However, as a gambling addict I can tell you that it is not easy. When you start winning as she did it is like a high - you want more of it so you go back and do it again, and nine times out of ten you lose what you won and then some. I know all too well that Blackjack is one of the most addictive games ever. I think her heart was in the right place wanting to win enough to repay Scott even though it was a gift.
Scott - I think the way he handled himself was commendable. He wasn't *****ing constantly (unless there was something in the dailies or behind the scenes that I'm unaware of) but I could tell he was disappointed. He never really complained though except on that one scene. Which brings me to -
JD - stop stirring the pot!! geez I can kinda see why people dont like him - he's starting to annoy even me - and I'm a big fan of his!
Devyn - girl I give you mad props because most girls would have went OFF on some clown who did that. You were very classy and I'm proud of you! And I don't care what they say - Brooklyn is too cute!!!
Sarah and Baya - better luck next time! lol at least we got to see ya for a little more than 5 minutes!
Chet - I'm done with him, he has to do something drastically good to redeem himself in my eyes. He either needs to******** or get his butt kicked - and I'm leaning toward the ***********.
The journal was a fantastic idea (Scott you are so sweet!) and I got really chocked up when everyone wrote their notes to him - one of the most touching moments in RW history I think (or at least top 10!).

I have a feeling all his actions are gonna catch up to him when he returns to the mormon community.
I've been thinking about the Katelyn/Scott/money scenario some more.
My original post earlier in the thread stands, but I suddenly remembered Katelyn in the confessional telling "us" that she continued to play because she "really wanted to pay Scott back".
So....has Katelyn always had it in her mind to pay Scott back for his generosity, or did it only cross her mind at the casino?
Either way, I don't think it is (morally) fair for a person to make a judgment as to whether the money was a gift or loan dependent upon their ability to pay it back. Regardless of if Scott considered it a gift-- According to her own confessional Katelyn had it in her mind that she wanted to pay him back eventually, therefore considering it a loan. And if she vocalized those intentions to Scott even indirectly, I can see why he would be disappointed.
WITH THAT BEING SAID
I'm speculating on what I saw on TV, as usual. So take my opinion with a grain of salt until Katelyn (or Scott) gets her butt here and clarifies.
I guess I understand her reasons, but I still think it was absolutely irresponsible for her not pay Scott back even a fraction of what she won as soon as she had it.
You must have never gambled before. Although I do agree that after being up 600 and ending up 70 down, she should have stopped somewhere in between, switched tables, taken a break, or whatever, it's EXTREMELY hard once you've won a decent amount of money to just get up and walk away. You then wonder to yourself "Well, do you think my luck is still going strong? Maybe I'll play just one more hand..." which leads to "Well, once I lose 3 hands in a row I'll get up" which leads to "Well, why don't I just try another table?". Mix that in with alcohol, and your judgment becomes blurred.
It's hard. Trust me. I've lost lots of money at the blackjack table, and seen my friends lose WAY more. But I keep going back...oh Vegas.

LOL! Ditto.
I'm a frequent game-hopper. I'll sit at a slot machine (with all of the old ladies) and play with quarters. If I lose 10 times, I'm off to the next machine.
My favorite though, is if I'm up like $100. I tell myself I'll only play $20 of it. NEVER works.
Gambling is an illness, progressive in it's nature.....When winning it never seems to be enough...When failing, they gamble recklessly chasing their losses.

I actually play the black jack tables in vegas quite frequently ;) I'm just responsible about it.

I got an awesome mental picture too! I have a friend who gives me "koala hugs" by jumping and clinging to me wrapping her legs around my leg then hanging on for dear life. She is like my little koala since she is about 1' shorter than me. Kinda like when a little kid grabs on and sits on their parents foot so they can be walked around. That's the mental picture I got. Devyn running Chet down, then jumping on him and clinging, giving him a koala hug...while topless. Awesome.

LOL...yeah I hope Devyn doesn't think I meant that in any other way other than to be funny....I was picturing what Chet's face would look like if he had actually inadvertently touched her ******...but then I pictured him being assaulted by the ******s and I was LMAO...I had to post it, LOL.
