I will be flipping back and forth between this and American Idol tonight. :)
I am DVRing for a bit later. :D
Jalapao wins again! I wonder if Taj will tell Sierra about the alliance?
I think either Sandy or Sydney will be leaving us tonight. I could be wrong though.
... The next episode of Survivor doesn't look to good. I was hoping this secret alliance would make it! :(
Damn, I was really hoping Sandy would survive the vote, I loved her. That was a shocker too because spoilers didn't really have her going until episode 6. Sandy knew the answer to the immunity, they just dismissed what she said. Very sad to see her go. Oh and I was rolling my eyes at their need to include a Rupert reference
Wow, it is hard to believe the tribes are all tied up. It seemed like Timbira was getting whooped and then all of a sudden it is a game once again (just how I like it!) I was actually enjoying Taj, but her voting for Joe? That was out of the blue. Not very smart as it was surely out of spite and not a true attempt at ridding him from the tribe. He must have dictated how she should vote and she choose a different path, lol. Being I have made it clear from the beginning that I am not a Sierra fan, I guess Taj will have to go down with the rest of the "secret" alliance. The sooner the better. I am the type of viewer that dislikes by association rather than merit, haha. That being said, I am going to agree that Sydney has snake written all over her pretty face and it would have been smarter to keep someone loyal like Sandy...
I think her voting Joe was just a throwaway, but I'm sure we'll get an idea tomorrow when we can see the tribal voting. I did not like Sandy at all. I don't know what it was about her, but I never saw the "professional bus driver" going too far. Plus she annoyed the bejesus out of me. I really was hoping that the secret alliance would be secret until the merge. If not, that fares much worse for Brendan and much better for Sierra...they probably don't know that Sierra is involved, but if Tyson overheard Brendan, that would probably catapult him to the top of the chopping block. Lucky her! And Taj flipping out...I wonder where that stems from? Maybe she got sent to Exile again and was just frustrated? Or maybe she found the idol and is just seeing how far she can push people :) Who knows. Ah, the joys of editing!
Poor Sandy! She was quite entertaining! I am 100% rooting for the secret alliance! Don't ***k it up, Taj! Sydney...i don't trust her!
I wonder...does Sydney have the potential be the next Parvati of her season?
And Taj flipping out...I wonder where that stems from? Maybe she got sent to Exile again and was just frustrated? Or maybe she found the idol and is just seeing how far she can push people :) Who knows. Ah, the joys of editing!
I am guessing it is because she voted for Joe and the tribe sees that she is not with them. That is why I questioned the choice she made as she could have voted for Sandy or at the very least stuck to her guns and went with Sydney. There is no such thing as a throwaway vote on Survivor. If you are voting for someone other then the majority choice, that usually means you're next... The "secret" alliance will all be home enjoying running water and electricity before this thing even gets heated up.
I wonder...does Sydney have the potential be the next Parvati of her season?
I feel like I remember in her pre-show interviews, she said that she wanted to emulate Parvati's strategy. Either that or she just reminded me of her, lol As far as Taj's vote/behavior, I am guessing she saw that as the last major chance to break up the Spencer/Joe/Sydney alliance as they no longer have solid numbers, so maybe she's hoping to make herself a target so she can use the idol and regain majority with JT and Stephen? That was my thought
...so maybe she's hoping to make herself a target so she can use the idol and regain majority with JT and Stephen? That was my thought
That would be RIDICULOUS, but I doubt she's playing it that smart. However, if she IS a target next week she should know where the HII is!

That was my thought
I'm kind of thinking that maybe Joe said something that didn't air during Tribal Council that rubbed Taj the wrong way and maybe she assumed others would sway the same way as her. That's the only logical reason I can come up with as to why she may have voted for him. She seems like a smart woman, so I'm hoping there is some logic behind it.
I think you are all looking at this wrong. It was clear that everyone was voting for Sandy (even though we got teased with Sydney being an option for the sake of there being a second option.) There is no way the guys were going to vote for Sydney and there is no way they would vote for Joe either at this juncture. In my opinion, this was a spite vote and nothing else. You could see how angry she was at tribal council concerning the guys liking Sydney and I think she let her emotions get the best of her. I don't see anything good coming of it for Taj. Even if she did it to use the idol next week, she in turn would waste something that could have gotten her far in the game to no positive gain (as she would surely be going in the next purge with her further betrayal.) I think she went from top 4 to bottom 6 in one fell swoop. Not that she would have a chance at winning anyway. There is no chance the other contestants would give the wife of a wealthy NFL football player the million dollars... That being said, her best hope at this point in making it far is a tribe swap, as she is at bottom of the pecking order at this point in her group.
YouTube - Survivor: Tocantins - Tribal Council Voting She said she voted for Joe "because she just didn't want to vote for Mama K". Maybe her water meltdown is Joe confronting her about it. There is such thing as a throwaway vote...remember Sean from Borneo? His "alphabet" strategy was ridiculous. I think Jalapao is now going to be locked 3-3, but to be honest with you, I think they now have a huge physical advantage over Timbira. Their weakest link now is probably Sydney, Stephen or Taj, and Taj is STRONG, Sydney has decent speed that could beat Sierra or Erinn, and Stephen (did you see him run?) has the brains. I think Timbira has a few weak links remaining; Coach has not proved himself at ALL in challenges, Debbie is pretty weak, and although Sierra has flashing moments, she's still at the bottom, as is Erinn.
She said she voted for Joe "because she just didn't want to vote for Mama K".
Right, but with that logic she should have voted for Sydney as it was clear Sandy was voting for her. Instead she decided to tap the hornets nest.
There is such thing as a throwaway vote...remember Sean from Borneo? His "alphabet" strategy was ridiculous.
Yup, that was about as idiotic a strategy as there has ever been on the show. That will, as usual, change everything. Jalapao is stronger on paper, but we know it never plays out they way we think it will. :D

It's so unpredictable now that both tribes have the same amount of players.
Right, but with that logic she should have voted for Sydney as it was clear Sandy was voting for her. Instead she decided to tap the hornets nest.
True.
Yup, that was about as idiotic a strategy as there has ever been on the show.
Yet, quite entertaining. You would expect better from a neurosurgeon, right?
I am expecting a tribe swap in two weeks. That will, as usual, change everything. Jalapao is stronger on paper, but we know it never plays out they way we think it will. :D
Me too! I want to see if this secret alliance will a)play out to the merge and b)see them all on a tribe together to further strengthen their alliance. If they're on the same tribe post-swap, it'll be easy to make it to the merge, yet their plans will be thwarted as people will know they've teamed up.
Sean from Borneo was a ***king idiot. What a moron. It still bugs me out stupid Pagong was. They didn't even know what game they were playing. Sad, sad. (True, they were Guinea Pigs!)
BTW: I added the video to molds13 post for those of you that have buffering issues with cbs.com. (Like me)
Thanks Phoenix. CBS.com CRAWLS with my connection and it is a pretty good one! Some days I can run right through their videos and other days it buffers every 10 seconds. I know it is not on my end as I have dedicated bandwidth and other video sites (like Hulu or Netflix which both demand more pipe) run fine.
Jeff Probst blogs about Episode 4.
"Iron sharpens iron." Now that is a great line. Tell me...tell me! Where else on television can you find that kind of writing? Nowhere, I say. Nowhere. Only on Survivor: Tocantins...starring Coach! Coach is not gold. Coach is platinum. Remember when you were a kid and you'd wake up irritated that you had to go to school, and then you realized...wait a minute, it's Saturday, I don't have to go anywhere. It was such a satisfying feeling. Well, that's the feeling I get every time I see or hear Coach on our show. On any other season Tyson would be the guy I was raving about, but I just can't say enough about Coach. It's like being any other great golfer when Tiger Woods is playing. I know you guys like insight, so here's a little Insight: Right now every other contestant on this season is reading this blog and they are sooooo mad at me for continuing to talk about Coach, the least liked person on the show. They want me to talk about them. Erinn wants me to talk about her incredible sex appeal. Brendan wants me to talk about how smart he was for creating "Bare Naked Granola" and making millions (yep he did). Taj wants me to talk about how good she looks...for her age...(ha, sorry Taj). Stephen wishes I would comment on his enormous brain. And Sierra - oh well, you get my point. All I can say to that is, sorry. Not my problem. As an audience member I just think Coach is hilarious. Further evidence to support my point: "When you look at me and you look at Brendan, who looks stronger? I do." I mean, come on! In the words of Vince Vaughn, "Coach, you're so money." I'm telling you right now that if they hadn't already signed their rights away to be on Survivor, I'd march Coach, Tyson and Sierra into CBS and sell the first hybrid sitcom/reality show...and you would all watch. Taj is growing on me. Wasn't so sure about her the first few days but she's growing on me. Don't get me wrong, she can still be a pain in the ***, but I like her. I also want to stay on the good side of Eddie George. "I might have just stumbled backwards into a huge alliance." Oh yes, you did, Stephen. A huge alliance. Keep an eye on that one. Stephen is great at playing the "one step behind bumbling goofball." Dude is wicked smart. The reward challenge is one of my all time favorites. We haven't done this in a while. We did it in season 2 in Australia with Colby and Michael. We did it in Pearl Islands with Rupert and Andrew Savage (who got robbed when we did the Outcasts). This season J.T. was a workhorse, tying the record that Rupert set at 220 lbs. But ultimately it came down Debbie and Taj who were very impressive. In the end, Taj put those beautiful broad shoulders to work and pulled it out for Jalapao. Insight: Mark Burnett absolutely hates it when contestants from opposite tribes congratulate each other after a challenge. Typically I do my best to make sure this doesn't happen but when Taj went over to hug Debbie at the end of the reward challenge it just felt right to let them do it. Fortunately Mark wasn't on location so he couldn't get mad at me, and he probably won't read this blog so he can't get mad that I'm sharing one of his pet peeves. And let's be honest, when you have a house in Malibu you really aren't entitled to any pet peeves anymore anyway. J.T. is a major threat to win this game. Way too likable, way too smart, way too physical. Tyson: "It felt a little weird having...those two... guys from the other tribe come over...in the back of your mind you're thinking...I wanna punch these guys in the head." Okay, Tyson, you have earned your way into the full on Gold category. If we do an all-stars, you definitely get my vote. 100%. Sandy: (referring to Sydney) "If they're gonna be voting you off, you better be pulling off more than a bra. You better be pulling off some panties or somethun." You have got to be kidding me. Who says that? Sandy, step on up, you too are now part of the Gold family and we are so happy to have you! While we're at it, it's time to give Sierra some well-deserved credit. Not only is she still in the game, but she is now locked into an alliance that has the potential to go all the way. It's also time to give our challenge department some props. The immunity challenge was pretty damn ingenious. A three-sided puzzle with multiple possibilities to confuse the tribes but only one correct phrase. You try coming up with something like that. Our guys are really good. Tribal Council was so fun! I love it when we get into some good juicy stuff! Let's address the elephant in the room: Sydney is absolutely beautiful. I'm not sure that it comes across on screen like it does in person but.... INSIGHT: The crew referred to her as Helen of Troy because literally everybody would stop their work when she walked into a challenge or tribal council. It's true. Now, Taj is a beautiful woman as well, but she's married and she's older so she's not going to get the same attention as Sydney. That definitely caused some friction. How could it not? Taj sees that someone like Sydney could go deep in the game simply by giving backrubs and staying out of the way. And as for flirting - I wouldn't say Sydney was that big of a flirt. The truth about men and women is that all it takes for a man to think a woman is interested in him is for her to say "hi." I don't know if Sydney has a boyfriend back home or not, but if so, he needn't worry. She wasn't "pulling down some panties or somethun." Okay. Finally, we must lay to rest...crazy ole Sandy. I gotta say, I don't know that I agree with Sandy's logic but for a kooky lady she's not as dumb as she sounds. She is annoying though. Let's be clear. She was annoying. What makes her likable is she can't help that she's annoying. She doesn't mean to be. She's just being herself. Sandy, I'm sooooooo sorry you are gone. Man, oh man. Such a loss. You were a delight to have on the show and I know I called you annoying but it doesn't mean I don't have mad love for you. Last words -- U2 has been on Letterman all week and they are tearing it up. Talk to ya next week. Ugh, I think I'm just about over Jeff and his ego.
Ugh, I think I'm just about over Jeff and his ego.
Agreed. I almost wasn't able to finish that blog post! It is just too much. It's a shame because it is getting to the point where whoever he endorses I kind of start of with a bias against them, wanting them to fail from the start.
I realize that Jeff is a giant egomaniac, but I still like him. He is the big kahuna on the show and doesn't hesitate to tell the cast where they can stick it. Sometimes it is funny when he does so (like his stab at Johnny Fairplay last year) while other times it just falls flat. Still, there would be no Survivor without Jeff and he is probably the best reality show host in the business. Often emulated, but never duplicated. As for Coach, he is really the only person so far that intrigues me. I am not all out rooting for him, but I wouldn't mind if he stuck around for a bit. I normally don't get behind the most hated person on a given season, but this year might be the exception.

I will take Rupert references all day long, I loved that guy, and so did America!
