I just thought the cameras were there and the production crew said nothing to them even if the cast said something to them.
The crew -- the camera and audio people -- are not supposed to interact with the crew, but there are a few anecdotal tales of cast talking to crews because they were bored to tears with the interminable waiting.
Directors and producers frequently interact off camera on any number of shows. The best example I can give you involves CBS' Big Brother where former cast members have said the diary room is used to influence their game play through usually subtle manipulation.
:new_shocked:
Lol, not only do the former cast mates say so, but its entirely obvious to anyone who follows the live feeds. Allison Grodner has no shame.
Allison hates me for telling her secrets. I'm a complete devotee of her former partner, Arnold Shapiro, a far more honorable guy whom I came to know when consulting for CBS a few years ago.
Well, we don't make this stuff up. Hopefully the cast will come forward to tell us something on their terms.
I hope so too. I want to go deeper into what you are saying.
I hope so too. I want to go deeper into what you are saying.
Don't go deep on me. It's far more fun than it is intellectual.
I honestly think the demo for that dailies website likes random things , nothing intellectually stimulating I mean look at their comments, there is haters and hating but this it HATE on EPIC LEVELS which pardon my french ****** me off.
:bottom: those "fans" need a serious talking to by their parents.
Ha Ha thank you for commenting on that... sometimes being in this position can be really hard.. but its the funny and uplifting comments made by people like you on the Vevmo site that makes it worth while... and someone posted a comment on the dailies the other day regarding all the haters... basically they said " You guys are hating on her so much... you really are just making her famous." Ha Ha soo true... so I just look at it like its a dedicated fan club
Wow, the boys were tearing Devyn up in today's dailies clips. It gives me a better sense of why she was so cold to JD during the last Aftershow.
I could never do a show like Real World - sometimes its better to have some things kept in the dark and not hear the painful things that people may have said about you behind your back.
I'd rather know the truth.. and my truth is I don't value the opinions of those I don't respect... I have no respect for any of the boys so I take their negative comments as good motivation for me to succeed and keep on movin'.
It was kind of brutal. I think he was drunk, though no excuse. And he was upset over supposedly stolen wings, but still, it seemed like it was building up in Ryan. Hopefully they show what all made him so upset to talk about Devyn like that. It sounds the guys have been annoyed with her stating her opinions on things or being some type of know-it-all.
I NEVER STOLE RYANS CHICKEN WINGS... I actually found that whole ordeal to be somewhat racist.. for a multitude of reasons.. and I very rarely pull that card... but Ryan was WASTED that night (as was true of most of the nights he was out) and misplaced his food then blamed it on me... all the girls thought he was ridiculous for ranting about that but as was common for us we just ignored him. Honestly I feel that people who aren't happy with their own environment feel the need to comment and critic everyone else's..especially if they feel threatened... if you have boys that feel they have always been the outstanding, outspoken, rockstar of their group.. and they are forced to live with a group of people equally as . outstanding if not more so.. .they choose to cut the others down in order to make themselves feel more adequate.. its quite sad really but a part of life.
The dailies for this week show the guys very focused on her - bashing her appearance, saying she's not doing anything to try and reach her goals (I'd like to know what Ryan had done besides that one episode in which he played a song for that guy, what JD is there for since he is already a dolphin trainer, etc), pulling a prank on her, tracking her activities for the day, etc. If there is not some showing of the ways Devyn is being annoying to them, the episode will look really unbalanced and the guys will look like jerks, I think. I think they would look somewhat bad regardless because of the level they are taking things to, but if they don't show something from her side to support the guys being annoyed with her, they will probably look worse.
Chet and Ryan look the worst, to me. In talking about what Devyn has been doing, Ryan seems to have forgotten the email he wrote to Baya about being interested in her. No, he wasn't cheating, but he was expressing some desire there while he was in a relationship (and he also called Belle "Baya" in a daily clip and apparently did it more than once while she visited). Chet always has confessionals and other clips in which he is going on and on about how someone else is. And JD seems gung-ho with the pranks now.
The thing about Ryan was... he was HITTING on Baya and was IN A RELATIONSHIP while he was doing it. I was NOT in a relationship with neither David nor Jim... I was single.. Sinlge people can flirt, date, etc . The boys were Very Hypocritical. For the back story of ep 7 and my relationships check out the ep 7 thread here on Vevmo.
Oh goodness I'm cringing just thinking about it. I still haven't seen last week's episode and probably won't tonight but hopefully I'll get to catch tonights episode since I think they show it two times in a row. I haven't watched the dailies lately but it would be kind of sad if Scott's getting in on the trashfest seeing as how he, Devyn and Baya all live together. One thing I've noticed though is when the shows wrap people usually end on good terms but once the shows start airing and they see how much junk was being talked behind their backs, things start to change. Anyways based on her interactions here and what I've seen on the earlier dailies Devyn seemed like a cool chick so I hope she doesn't let all the trash talk about her looks or whatever get her down.
For me personally things don't change just because the camera's go off. We should all be held accountable for our words and our actions both on camera and off.. what we do when we forget people are watching is what determines our level of integrity.
See, I just cannot buy putting the onus on the production for the shit-talking that occurred in the house. No doubt, in the confessional questions are asked of cast members that are geared toward generating drama and controversial statements, but in the general spaces of the house you are still your own person and you have to die on your own sword. If you decide to shit-talk because you think that is what production wants from you then that is just as big a reflection of your own character as it is of production.
No doubt, Scott seems like a chill guy and he probably got over his anger issues with Devyn over time, but I doubt someone as proud as Devyn, after now having heard all that Scott was saying about her during the time in the house, would be comfortable in her current decision to live with him. In my opinion what Scott has said about her on the dailies is as hurtful, if not more so, than what JD has done and she doesn't give JD the time of day. However, unlike JD, Scott has hopefully apologized for his actions.
You took the word's right out of my mouth.. or my head.. either way.. you read my mind.. and thank you! I completely agree with Everything you said.. including the JD part and it is at this time that I would have to say that I hold JD in higher regard than Scott ( though that isn't saying much for either). I don't like to flaunt negativity so I don't talk about it much but the reality is... JD at least showed his true colors to my face.. Scott did not.. I feel that Scott will do whatever it takes to fit in.... Mi madre always said "If you don't stand for something you will fall for anything" and that is proven with Scott... he did lose a friend after the show and I have no respect for people with no integrity.. not to mention he has yet to have the moxie to own up to his words.
Wow so that all sounded really intense...ha ha I promise I'm much more fun than that lol
Thanks for responding. I don't know if you think this, but I wasn't trying to blame anything on you. I was just posting this stuff after watching the dailies and trying to see the side of the guys and figure out why they would have any reason to be so vicious and nasty and go off about you behind your back. It was all before the actual episodes dealing with the issues were shown. Regardless of me only having some tidbits from the dailies at the time, I felt the guys were being very horrible and the manner in which they were going on was completely rude and unnecessary. The stuff they were saying about you offended me, and it caused me to view them differently.
The rant Ryan supposedly had over the wings - I didn't know if it was true or not if you took his wings. Thanks for clarifying. Even one of the guys wasn't completely sure if you did it when he was going on about it. I thought he was being really nasty even if you had done that or not, but now that I know you didn't, he looks even worse. I hadn't really thought about that situation having a racist undertone, but when I think about it, I can see what you are talking about. I understand the whole "relationship" thing as well after watching the episode and you explaining it in the thread. I read it when you first posted it. It was clear to me just from the first episode and the previews in which David was called your "semi-fiance" that you weren't quite settled with him or that there was a big reason he was a semi-fiance. And your relationship was none of the guys' business, and Ryan should have completely removed himself from the situation considering his thing for Baya.
I think the guys overall have said some really terrible things and they are kind of lucky because most of it has only been on the RW Dailies site and not on the TV show. I am sorry you had to deal with all of that. I am looking forward to the reunion to see if they get called out on their behavior, since there has been a heavy focus on the girls being called out by the guys already.
Thanks for your responses Devyn, I found your thoughts about Scott particularly insightful because I sensed the same thing but, of course, being on the outside I didn't know if there was something I was missing so reading your perspective has been interesting. I too felt that the chicken wing incident and the other dailies rantings have been misogynistic and at least borderline if not completely racist so thank you for providing your take on it. I'm really disgusted about the whitewashing that has been done of the boys on the actual episodes but I'm minimally glad that those of us that watch the dailies can at least get a better picture unlike in the earlier RW seasons where you only had the episodes on which to base your opinions.
Wow, Ryan greasing the "stripper" pole because Katelynn isn't cleaning up to his and Scott's liking? I surely hope Kate felt the grease on it before using it. Actually I hope she didn't use it at all after that so that they wouldn't get the satisfaction of her being pranked. I agree that people should clean up after themselves as a courtesy. Keep the common areas clean, no food lying around anywhere for days and such as to not create a mold situation or attract extra roaches and rats and such, no dirt or grim - OK. I am with the guys on that. But the constant pranking and putting down of the girls who aren't doing things to the guys' liking bugs. And if Kate and Devyn keep a lot of clutter in their room, then that's their room. The guys shouldn't go in their room if it bothers them. It's their living area and they both have clutter, so as long as they aren't annoying each other with it, the others shouldn't worry about it.
And it looks like Kate really is leaving. I was thinking that it might not happen. Not that I thought she was making things up, but I guess I was hoping it wasn't going to happen. In today's daily, she said she was going to tell the producers that she wanted to leave "a week from Friday." During that time in filming, of course, but from hearing that, I am wondering if during that time she might be able to get some help or instant pay jobs or something that will allow her to stay. I could possibly see this spilling over from tonight's episode into the next episode. I don't know. It's sad if she really does have to leave.
I'm not sure what exactly all of Kate's expenses are - maybe some related to her surgery, maybe some related to her living expenses back home. I don't know. Maybe she would be willing to tell us after the show. But I have always wondered what the reality show contestants do with their apartments or houses or living places when they do the shows. Do they continue to pay rent until they move back home? Or do they just give up their places and get a new place when they go back home? What about car payments and other bills? It definitely would be tough if you had to balance paying for your life back home and your life in your new living areas.

My surgery was payed off, in full, prior to me having it (one of the benefits of being in the tech industry for many many years). You have to remember I lost my job in April, found out I was cast in May, and didn't start filming until August. I had my surgery in June so I couldn't get a job immediately after moving to Montana because of my surgery, and then I went right off to Brooklyn. Just because HOUSE bills are payed, doesn't mean that all of your bills back home are. Yes, we got compensated via "story rights" for being on the show, but it honestly wasn't much.
Maybe to some college student living at home with mom and dad it was enough to get by, but it was almost 1/4th of what I was making at my previous job.
The chronology is off too because I was still volunteering at The Center at this point, often exceeding the amount of time I was alloted (we were only allowed to "work" 20 hours a week, this was to make sure we would interact with housemates). Production forbade me from working a job, saying it was either work or the show. I had been out of work for almost 8 months at this point, my hands were tied financially.
Thanks for explaining. I figured it must have had something to do with bills for your life back home. I have read that some of the past casts have only been paid something like $2000 for doing the show. And then for casts with a group job, they were paid a paycheck for doing that work. Maybe you would have benefited some from having a group job, but then again it might have taken away from your volunteer work, and volunteering at The Center obviously meant a lot to you.
Can somebody explain to me what the big deal is with Calvin Klein and Scott? There are like four different daily clips with Ryan & Chet pretending to be him. LOL

Scott's dream was always to model for Calvin Klein
In one daily several weeks ago, Scott even said he met Calvin Klein somewhere while he was in NY and he gave him his number. And the guys know about the encounter which probably prompted them to make the prank phone calls.

Devyn comes across so intelligent in that one!
NOTTTTTTTTT!!!!!!
wow.
idk what was worse...
Devyn's ignorant comments, denying barrack's white side. "he's ours" (no. he's actually both,)
or Sarah being the annoying cheerleader.
This may be my favorite. Baya, you're adorable! And funny and burst of energy..You may not have the kind of drama or personal conflict that they wanted to show on the season, but i think you're interesting without it.

***** the guy on the phone is right... exactly how I feel...
I don't understand how JD feels he's the most humble in the house. You know, if you keep saying that, then it makes you less humble. These dailies once again show the bad side of JD, now lets see if the episodes do that as well for once.
Ryan needs to take the stick out of his ***. Anyone else notice how he's constantly *****ing and complaining? I noticed he likes to gossip/talk shit a lot. I wouldn't expect such catty behavior from a military boy.
Just sayin..

I'm a Ryan fan so I'm only agreeing with the sentence about catty behavior. I've never seen a group of straight men be as catty as Ryan, Chet, and Scott. They gossip and scratch their claws as bad as any stereotype of women. I'm used to 99% of guy conversations being about sports, politics, electronics, home improvements, etc., so hearing these straight guys dish is really odd.

Perhaps what you mean is that you have never seen a show where straight men were catty. I think this says a great deal about the way this show was edited (I know, broken record here). You are seeing more of this from the three straight guys because that is exactly what the editors want you to see. The 1% of their behavior is what the editors decided to share with us because
1) it represents the behavior they associate with most;
2) it represents the behavior they think their audiences associates with most; and/or
3) the story editor became lazy mid-season and just went for a repeat theme that mimics an editing technique on Laguna Beach and The Hills
The guys have said this edit of them is greatly distorted. I see no reason to disagree with them.

No, not on television, in real life. Guys I know from family, friends, co-workers, don't gossip or act catty like these guys. For me personally it is odd to see. On the other hand, guys I know are very dull and would never be cast on reality tv since they couldn't provide any interesting sentences to splice together. There aren't that many ways to put together statements from average joes about the AIG bailout and/or Lance Armstrong breaking his collarbone to create something people would want to tune in to watch.

Of course, Vevmo is apolitical and thus I can not. :D
