I was under the impression that BMP threw Katelynn in just to get some ratings until I realized half of the cast isn't a typical rw castmember.
Could she have been the reason why there are 8? And will there be 8 for now on?
Anyway, I'm happy she was cast, she has an amazing story and without a doubt one of the most interesting "real" castmembers

So I was bored and searching through my Charter On Demand, and I stumbled across a segment where you could catch a glimpse of the current casts audition tapes. I watched Katelynne's and fell in love with her just a little bit more. I loved how she talked about being a geek and how guys are stupid and it just made me want to grab a cup of coffee with her and chat. I'm so glad Mtv got normal seeming intelligent people this time around.
Awesome! Am so glad there are now eight roommates.
I must ask though, since she went post-op 3 weeks before going on the Real World. I am curious, was she dating Mike pre operation or no? That is something that I am curious about...
Because if she wasn't, they must not have been together for that long before she went on the show...

I thought it was about 2 months prior that she got the surgery...Do you remember for sure that it was 3 weeks?

From the first aftershow it seemed to be 3 weeks... I too thought it was 2 months but that wasn't how it sounded like in the aftershow

she said she was 3 weeks post-op in the recovery process when she moved into the house... Which got me asking my question in the first place.

Hi, I just wanted to interject here that your assumptions aren't correct about the length of Katelynn's relationship with Mike, tomackze. I don't know Kate personally, so I am not going to comment on the ins and outs of her relationship. She can speak for herself, after all, if she so chooses. But I did want to clarify before speculation goes any further that, yes, Katelynn and Mike were together before she went to Thailand. They have a history together, so any assumptions about her jumping into a relationship too soon are irrelevant (not that it's anyone's else's place to judge [I]when[/I] it is appropriate to fall in love with someone in the first place ;) ).

Mike and I have been together for the better part of two years. We met (though never dated) in High School and we've been friends for a long, long time. I went to Thailand for my surgery at the end of June and didn't return from Thailand until almost the end of July. We began filming the first week in August, so roughly three week from my return from Thailand; barely a month post-op.

Chet is a genuinely nice guy. Yes he can be a bit childish and confused at times, but we all have a dark side to our personality (mine takes form in an occasional morose egocentricity). In the end Chet means well and tries to do good, which makes him an amazing person in my eyes.
That is amazing to hear. MTV edited it to make him seem like an enemy in the first two episodes but I always knew he was genuinely a nice guy. And glad you say it also :)

Surprisingly enough, just barely. I received a 790 on English section but a mere 550 on the Math section. Guess I've always been destined to be a writer =P
I'm not entirely fond of how that whole conversation went down on the dailies site though. Sarah and I were talking about politics, society, and classism (normal fare for us) when I mentioned how the term 'African-American' is perceived by some to be a derogatory and offensive term. Devyn happened to be walking by and... yeah.
Conversations with Devyn wound up being a big issue for me in the beginning just because we are so diametrically opposed to each other: she's a woman of great faith and I am a scientist at heart. She debates with passion whereas I prefer logistic syllogisms. It's not wrong by any means, we're just two individuals with two different perspectives on the world.
Thankfully Diva and I have long since worked out the quirks in our friendship =)

LOL I have a 720 in Math and a 620 in Verbal. We have the same exact score out of 1340 but we are sort of reversed. I'll be attending college next year in Houston :)
And hehe you are the "other" type of scientist. Most usually are good in Math but you are an expert in Verbal instead :).
And was the Diva a typo or do you actually call her Diva? And it is kind of hard for you two to argue because you two are arguing from EXTREMELY different POVs which is hard.
No no, I actually call her Diva. I don't mean it in the condescending way you normally hear Chet and Ryan say it; I call her that because in my eyes that's what she is - a true Diva. It's a title she commands with respect.
And yeah, whereas some of us in the house can debate Devyn and I would always wind up arguing, and that's not the format I go for. Our solution was to just not tread on those grounds... and it's working out well so far.
I bet it is, you have a system working so just stick with it ;). And I can see that, I could see Dev taking Diva as a compliment not as an insult and that is a good thing.
And I just started looking at your FB pictures and the first few things that came to mind.
1. Cute baby by Bryan. And holding it made you look like a good mommy :)
2. Saw the computer that you put together and fixed, my gosh Katelynn = Genius!
3. You need more pictures of you and Mike up... it's not as interesting without pictures of you and Mike.
Also, if you don't mind me asking, I would like to get the down-low or the update on your relationship with Mike? Going much better since that 3rd episode? And do you two watch it now and laugh because you two are much different and in a much stronger, healthier, and better relationship? We all love you and are just looking out for you, hoping Katelynn is healthy and happy! :)

And I am glad to hear that about you and Mike. [B]I hope that now it is becoming more 2 way than 1 way.[/B] And I believe that you will one day get to the stage where you look back and laugh at that episode, when you compare yourselves now to then. And you are correct, all good relationships need to have problems, because you only get stronger through those problems. I do not know how you could possibly have one without ANY problems at all... Because one without problems probably would not be one with love or one lived through a lie. Because there is no way you can really have NOTHING to change.

Also, what is Eve Online? It looks so Sci Fi and so high tech, and is it safe to assume Kate likes Sci Fi? Heh you are a computer nerd ;). But in all seriousness, definitely a good trait to have (being tech savy) and cool to see that you can still relate to a lot of us here because though you are a Real World cast member and sort of a celebrity, you are still a human like each of us and this shows it so that is awesome. And your interest in Sci Fi and more relate to younger people like me, though I am not a huge Sci Fi person (more into sports games though I do need a Starcraft fix every now and then). And I do love looking at the trailers for those Sci Fi games
