I really prefer RC Cola with my Moon Pies, but in a pinch, Dr. Pepper will do.
When I was a little girl, my uncle owned a barber shop. Out front he always had RC Cola machines. You could get a can for a quarter. That brings back many fond memories. :)
Moxie. That is all I have to add.
Isn't that called a brown cow?
It's called an egg cream. Its a New York/ New Jersey thing.
Dr. Brown's cream soda with a splash of milk!
My wife says she remembers this from her youth in Westchester.
My wife says she remembers this from her youth in Westchester.
Excuse me...but I believe she and I are still enjoying our youth!
Excuse me...but I believe she and I are still enjoying our youth!
She mentioned that milk was the appropriate substitute when ice cream was unavailable. I had to tease her since I thought that when you were out of something in Westchester, you simply told the housekeeper to get more!
It's called an egg cream. Its a New York/ New Jersey thing.
My mom always talks about something called a Brown Cow. I think it's Coke and Milk maybe.. I dunno. I'll have to investigate. She also frequently mentions something called a Green River. I have no idea what that is either. lol

Red pop. Don't know if it's sold anywhere outside of Illinois but that used to be my favorite drink, it's like kiddie crack.
Red pop. Don't know if it's sold anywhere outside of Illinois but that used to be my favorite drink, it's like kiddie crack.
as in Big Red?
as in Big Red?
Another one of my mom's faves!! When I was in college, I was on a strict diet of Ramen noodles and Black Cherry Soda from Aldi's. Anyone ever tried that soda? BTW, I can tell you're from Illinois Binary. You said "pop".
Yeah I love Big red...especially when you leave it in the freezer for just the right amount of time so when you open it it gets slushy!! I have had Black Cherry soda, but I don't know what the brand was.

Yes Big Red! That is my favorite old school pop. Yes I say "pop" and I'm not one bit ashamed the only soda I know is club and baking. . . I love the black cherry from Aldi it's good on vanilla ice cream as a float, I love Aldi's. Virtually every place I've gone in Europe or the US that has a local Aldi's I have a picture of myself in front of it (strange story attached to that) and I always buy my chocolate from there too.

I was going to paste the link to wikipedia but I don't think wiki goes over too well with this crowd. . .

I've said pop my entire life. As of late, I've strayed away from it. I lived on the east coast for a bit. People back home laugh at me now because I say things like "soda" and "sneakers" (rather than tennis shoes).
We say "Soda pop" or Soda wata (water)" sometimes here in the south. LOL
HAHA that video was rad.
