I am excited though - it's like when the Selena movie came out; it happened in "my time" so it was extremely interesting (and sad) to watch.
Yeah I agree...I remember crying when I saw that she died...I had tickets to an upcoming concert she had and I was sooo excited. Could you imagine where she would be today had she not died...all the things she would have accomplished, not to mention we probably never would have had to deal with the phenomenon that was J Lo.
I am hoping they do something similar for Tupac soon.
I've heard a 2pac biopic is in the works and is scheduled to be released next year.
Before 2pac died, he wrote a film called "Live 2 Tell". That film is supposed to be released too.

I. can't. wait! There is just something about the way 2pac was with words so I am interested in seeing something he wrote come to life on a big screen...too bad he didn't live long enough to perfect that skill...he would have been huge in today's industry...Biggie too though.

In addition to Tupac's great music, I think he was also a great writer. He wrote songs from his heart, he wrote poems and movie scripts. At the time of his death he had a script writing company called 24/7 and he also had a movie project company called Euphanasia. I do agree he would have been big in today's industry.
If Biggie was still around, alot of today's rappers would be flipping burgers or doing something else instead of rapping lol.

There are a few in particular that I wouldn't mind having taken that life path...rap these days is so ****** repetitive and ridiculous.

Yes indeed, its is. There are only a handful of rappers nowadays that are actually worth something.

Hopefully alot of these fake rappers(like plies, shawty lo) will fade away this year. Thankfully people like Jay Z,Nas and Outkast are still around.
I think hip-hop will take a big turn this year if Dr. Dre's Detox finally comes out and if Eminem drops his cd.
Did any of you read about the issues Lil' Kim has with Faith Evans and Biggie's mom and this movie? I was looking up Naturi Naughton when I saw she played Lil' Kim in the movie. I thought, "good for her to be doing something like this after how the whole 3LW situation played out." And when I googled her, there were articles and blog mentions about Lil' Kim not wanting to have anything to do with the movie and threatening to "expose" Faith and Ms. Wallace.

On one hand, without having seen the movie, I could see a possibility of Lil' Kim's relationship with Biggie being made to look more like he didn't really love her or she could have been betrayed as a really foul side girl.
However, she did become a side girl and allowed herself to be one when she continued a relationship with him when he married Faith. And really, it sounds like they tried to reach out to her to get her side of the story for the movie, but she already felt like things weren't going to be right, so it seems she kind of declined to give further info. And when you do that, you lose some control over the portrayal. I don't think it's really nice the way she is handling the situation.

I did hear about that. I heard she was mad, because she said Mrs. Wallace and Faith Evans didn't involve her in the production of the movie.
She also didn't show up at the premiere: Rap-Up.com:// winter 08/09 issue on sale now! Blog Archive ‘Notorious’ New York Premiere
I didn't really like Lil Kim that much and I do think she isn't handling the situation that well.

Yeah you're right, Shawty Lo is a joke. Plies only makes decent tracks because he always has a good singer featured on the song with him.
Dr. Dre puts out a cd like every other 3 years but when he puts its out, the album is always HOT! What's up with Eminem though, is he working on an album now?

Yeah it should be out sometime this year...I heard one of his singles back in Oct. when I had a rental car with satellite radio...I only listened to his station Shade 45 (and I am not even a big rap fan, but they played good music...way better than mainstream rap.) And I also heard he dropped another single last month. You should look them up online.

Thanks for filling me in. I'm going look for some of his singles now. I did not know they made rentals with satellite radio, that's cool. :-)p
I watched some story on Lil' Kim and she supposedly got knocked up by BIG and had an abortion..... Is that the story you want told? Look, I love Lil' Kim as a female rapper who paved the way and made it acceptable for a woman to be just as raunchy as male rappers but really, her "relationship" with BIG was an extended hookup. Like Beyonce said: "If you like it then you shoulda put a ring on it" and he didn't. Have some class...... damn!
Eminem (featuring Dr Dre and 50 cent) has a track out now (crack a bottle) it's in rotation in Detroit radio now.
Lil Kim is a mess
Can't wait to see the movie

Dr. Dre is working hard on Detox- his last studio album and it should be a classic when it comes out! But right now he is putting finishing touches to 50 Cent's Before I Self-Destruct which is supposed to drop on February 3rd and Eminem's Relapse which is due early spring.
Here's a new Eminem song called: "Crack a bottle" featuring Dr. Dre and 50 Cent:

Well, we all know he treated her really bad...I am thinking that the story his momma told about him kinda smoothed all that out a bit so that her son did not look too bad in his after life. I am not an expert on it, but I get the impression that he beat her or something equally as bad and it wasn't put into the movie.
No, I would have loved to. My husband said he heard it was bad and the only reason to go see it would be for the music :( (Of course he was crabby because he wanted to see mall cop). I did hear about 4 being stabbed at an after party or something

I did here about 4 being stabbed at an after party or something
I've heard nothing but good things about it. That's crazy folks were being stabbed at the after party though. It's not that serious.

I swear some people are so ignorant...I don't see the reason for all the violence that has been going on surrounding this movie that is supposed to have an anti-violent message. There was also a shooting at one of the screenings that Jamal Woodard himself was supposed to be at, but he didn't show up for some reason or another.

It's all very sick. I don't understand why people would want to pick a premier to do that at. I don't agree with them doing it at all, but at a movie premier or screening? It's like, let's not let the fact that the violence in the movie happened in real life inspire you to do the same.
I loved the movie. I have been a Biggie fan since I was a child. I didn't like Derek Luke as Diddy. Jamal, Naturi, Angela Bassett, & whoever played Faith were on point.
I'm more of a Biggie Fan (personal reasons) but Pac had a movie. Remember, resurrection? I know its more of a documentary but its still a film.
They did kind of make Pac look bad in the movie but it is Biggie's movie. The end brought me to tears.
I guess Nas was right. "Hip hop is dead".

I totally agree with that to an extent...some hip hop is still decent, but for the most part it is so damn repetitive that the entire song consists of 3 sentences repeated over and over...

I miss the 90's era.
things would be totally different in my opinion if he (notorious b.i.g.) were still alive.
Yes, Tupac also. Everyone would all be like "Soulja what?."
I miss the 90's era.
I think the 90s hip hop was the best. Right now all I listen to is 2pac, Biggie, Nas, Jay-z and Eminem.
Yes, Tupac also. Everyone would all be like "Soulja what?."
I KNOW!!!! I most miss the impact of the lyrics from back in the day...BIG was bad *** at rapping about "Thug life" turning into "Rich Life"...and Pac had bad *** lyrics about problems in the ghetto that needed to be addressed as well as "Thug Life"!
