Amazing Race 14
via CBS You could say that "The Amazing Race" host Phil Koeghan can keep a secret -- no matter how juicy or interesting. And this time around he has a big one involving The Early Show anchors. Koeghan, who was in Los Angeles, is about to start shooting the next "Amazing Race" and he is keeping mum on all of the juicy details. Although he couldn't dish much on where exactly he is headed on his next adventure, he isn't hiding his excitement for what's to come. "It's incredible. It's amazing, quite frankly. We'll be heading out for the 14th time to go around the world. We keep having this opportunity and for me, it's the best job I've ever had and I love it and thankfully the viewers love it and it's always nice to be employed and when you get employed and you get to go around the world and shoot great adventures with people and with an audience, there's nothing more exciting than that," he told Early Show co-anchors Harry Smith, Maggie Rodriguez, Julie Chen (via phone) and Early Show news anchor Russ Mitchell."The Amazing Race" will be starting in the United States, as it always is, but Koeghan admitted that the real reason he was there was to talk to the Early Show anchors about "Destination Unknown." "You guys are going to have no idea where you're going, what you're going to be doing. You're going to be on your own "Amazing Race," Koeghan explained. Julie Chen's leg is first. She was surprised -- and whisked away from the show's set Friday -- heading for -- Paris. Although Keoghan won't be at every destination the Early Show anchors go, he will be giving them the clues. "You'll find out where you're going and get your clues and you'll have absolutely no idea where you're going. And the next time that the viewers hear from you, you will be in a far-away land, and trust me when I say to you, it will be far away," Koeghan said. "You will be jet lagged, exhausted, I might have you running through the airport with some heavy bags -- just exhaust you even more. We'll give all of the heavy bags to Dave Price," Koeghan joked. "Then you will be somewhere in the world and you will be doing things unknown at this point," he said. "You're killing us," Rodriguez said. "Can we win $1 million if we get there fast?" Chen asked. "That's a conversation you might want to have with your husband," Koeghan replied. "It would be 'no,'" Chen said. "At this point, it's 'Destination Unknown,' prize unknown and money unknown. But I can promise you this, that where you're going, it will be tremendously exciting," Koeghan said. "You might want to bring an array of clothing. In fact, you will not even know what you need because you will not know what you're doing!" The Early Show anchors will meet people along the way, but they will take their own individual trips and they may need some shots. All of the information will be revealed when the Early Show anchors go to "Destination Unknown." "He said we're going to be disoriented and confused and that's not much different than any other day," Smith said with a laugh. "Destination Unknown" starts next week on "The Early Show." "The Amazing Race" airs on Sundays at 8 p.m. ET, on CBS.
I don't know if you guys already know this or not, but the 14th season of The Amazing Race premieres February, 15 2009.
Really? I just recently got into this show- has it always been two seasons a year?
Every year except last year. I am sure they wished they had ordered a second one with the strike and the fact fall 2007 was the second highest rated season ever. However at the time they thought it was fading and felt strongly about their new shows.
I think Big brother 9 had something to do with them not having 2 that year as well.
Actually, that was after the fact. They considered rushing another TAR into production - but this is a kind of show you can not rush into production. So, they were not able to get TAR on air during the spring strike schedule. However, they did get a second season of BB, which we will always remember as a programming mistake (with 20/20 of course.)
Actually, that was after the fact. They considered rushing another TAR into production - but this is a kind of show you can not rush into production.
Agreed, they did that once and it didn't turn out too well. After Season 5 did very well in the summer and might have been their first Emmy, they threw together season 6 (the one with Jonathan & Victoria) and had originally planned to premiere 6 about 2 weeks after the finale of 5, but ended up pushing it back a little. But their rush to film it made it a ****** season. Nevertheless, they turned things around the next season with the Rob and Amber show
Nevertheless, they turned things around the next season with the Rob and Amber show
Which as much as I hate to admit it, was one of the best seasons ever. I would rate them as season 1, season 2 and then season 7 (as the best seasons in that order.) Rob brought a new dynamic and made it far. His sleazy attitude was a boon to the show. ...and then there was season 8. Ohhh...how sad. Romber sucked on All Stars and got canned early... BTW: What is up with that reality show they were working on with people using their own money and a 10 Million dollar prize. It seems to have vanished.

Ned Schneebley coming in on a Segway = PRICELESS! Can't wait for the next season :)
Looking forward to the premiere tonight. This has always been my favorite reality show because of the scope, scenery and generally light hearted competition.
I completely forgot that this show comes on tonight! Now I have something to look foward to. :D I am hoping this season is better than the last.... I didn't like last season.
I am hoping this season is better than the last.... I didn't like last season.
I have to agree that last season was lacking. The cast was short on likable characters. Hopefully they remedied that this time around. :D
I had no idea that another season would be coming already! It seems like the last season just ended. Gives me something to watch tonight!
I get the feeling that this season will have the first all-female team to win. I don't read spoilers at all for TAR so it's just a feeling, maybe wishful thinking, lol. Too bad it wasn't Dustin and Kandice during AS :(
The race is on! Wonder where Phoenix is. :D
I am going to start posting these videos on this thread. I always watch them on CBS.com. I think they are interesting:). Phils Diary: Episode 7 YouTube - The Amazing Race 14 - Phil's Diary: Episode 7
