The trailer has returned to the first post in this thread.
Finally I got to watch it! :D It looks like The Real World Brooklyn will be a very good season.
Where have you seen it? Could you post it?
Flamen, V1man was at the sneak preview/panel discussion. He has already written a very good post about the experience. Those of us who weren't at the event will just have to wait until January to see the show :)
Where have you seen it? Could you post it?
No, posting it, if I had it in my possession which I do not, would violate US copyright law. Some of it was shown at the Paley Center event last Friday (details here). Some of it I saw through the courtesy of someone in management. I went to NY last week expressly to meet the cast and to see the first episode. That is why I can have such a positive outlook about the season.

I personally liked the trailer. It at least made me excited to see the new RW season. I personally don't see a lot of drama in it, but a lot of character development, and the main purpose I watch RW or RW/RR Challenge is for the drama, but I could be wrong since it was just a minute trailer. I'm still in love with RW: Hollywood (which in my opinion was one of the best RW seasons, and I've been watching RW since B2NY).
I've seen a large portion of the first episode, which even though just introductory, is really good. I'm sure you have some objective standard in your own mind, but both as a producer and someone who has followed the show professionally since season one, I'm seeing much more of a documentary feel to this season. This is not going to be The Hills or Laguna Beach with 8 strangers. Of course, I could entirely be misreading what you think is not good. What exactly were you expecting to see in such a brief exposure?
V1man, you made me feel a lot better when you said that the first episode was good. Here's my personal logic. I've personally been watching RW since season 6. So since then, I've been watching it every week seriously. I just feel like that usually they do more with the previews. C'mon guys you know I'm right. The trailer could've been much stronger. Every season's trailer has a cliffhanger in it that makes me anxious to see the season. This one didn't. JD breaking the table, Katelynn being callled a dude while she was changing, and her calling Chet gay, to me that's not amazing as some people have said. Like "omg I can't wait". For me personally, Parisa and Shauvon's physical altercation in the Syndey preview (Even though that season turned out to be horrible) left me wanting more, and also in the Hollywood season Dave's brawl clip HAD ME HELLA EXCITED for Hollywood. Not only did that stir me up like damn this could be good, Joey crying and screaming "I was not like this till I came in this ****** house", Brianna hitting the gate while arguing with Kimberly, and Will arguing with he who shall not be named, Dave on the floor getting hit with flour (If those were really in there, I can't remember and I'm too lazy to check it)... I could go on: but you get my point. THAT was an exquisite trailer... I didn't hear or see one person thinking that Hollywood wasn't going to be good. Myself and others have mixed perceptions about this season based on that preview. If they were online, I'm sure if we looked back at all of the trailers, a majority of them would appear to be more enticing than this one. Get me? :ok:
obinnadaone, you are seeking just the opposite of what I want to see in a trailer. I far prefer substance over any mindless and vapid display of stupidity, which in my view largely describes what you recall of past trailers. The focus on such trash in past seasons is what has had the franchise hemorrhaging viewers over the past few years. You will not entice people to return with more of the same. Without returning viewers, the series is doomed. The 13 yr olds can't sustain it. They have insufficient economic clout.
That's true. You're ultimately right when it comes down to it. The show is about stepping out of the norms of your hometown. It's about learning, living, and emerging out of the season as a better person. However, NOT everyone thinks like that. Everyone is not in the same psychological mindset to set what you've described and what I've summarized. People want to see the drama. If the show was about learning to appreciate other cultures and character transformation only, then there'd be no Real World. Why do you think people hated Sydney? There was not enough drama in there. People loved Hollywood not because Kim, Sarah, and Brianna changed and made up. They loved it because of the drama and all of what the season brought. If the real world rested on the aforementioned principles which essentially= boredom, it would have no television time. Thus, we wouldn't be here posting on it because it wouldn't exist.
Oh, I do think you and others will get some of what you are looking for, but this season it simply is not the focus either of the edit or of what actually happened.
Do you think this season has the potential to top RW:Hollywood?
Do you think this season has the potential to top RW:Hollywood?
While I've made a personal friend or two from RW: Hollywood, I do think a monkey with a camera on a street corner could randomly shoot a better show than the "Hollywood" season turned out to be.
I just want to go on record as saying it would be the best season ever first. I'm not gonna lie, it made me a little misty eyed.
Just as obinnadaone said, I don't think this is the most interesting trailer for someone looking for real drama. I personally would love to see a mix of both but there has to be a focus to the edit of the show. I don't think any trailer for a real documentary could ever do the documentary justice. A 2 min preview could never really grasp what has happened in 4 months of filming.

I might be completely biased. I look at it this way... a trailer usually dictates whether or not you'd watch. I think it made the show seem refreshed. I'm super giddy.
I hope someone uploads the trailer on youtube..
I hope someone uploads the trailer on youtube..
You know the trailer is on the first page of this thread, right?
Just incase you guys were wondering, the famous/dramatic Real World trailer song that was used in both the Austin and Denver trailers is called "Gangsta's Closet" by Erik Gamans. I'm researching the track in the Brooklyn Trailer. Both songs are pretty catchy (I think). Hope that helps anyone who was wondering.
"Real World: Brooklyn" cast hopes NYC won't hate themBy Julie Gordon | amNewYork Entertainment Editor 8:35 AM EST, December 5, 2008 Real World: Brooklyn cast. (amNewYork Photo/ RJ Mickelson / December 5, 2008) "The Real World: Brooklyn" cast-members believe it's a real shame people are already judging them. The show debuts on Jan.7, so America has not yet met them. And even before they had set foot in Red Hook in August to film the show, local residents were already harping on the negative images of seasons' past: sex, drinking and public rowdiness. "We'd hear, 'Oh, it's Fake World. You guys suck,'" said roommate Scott, a 23-year-old personal trainer and model from New Hampshire, who is one of the eight "RW" guys and girls (yes, it's eight this season). "This one guy in a bar said we were a virus," Scott said. "So I walked up to him and said, 'Really?' You don't know who I am." J.D., 22, Miami Beach, Fla. A dolphin and whale trainer back home, J.D. describes himself as strong, smart, independent and "not your typical gay guy." He said he has been forced to be independent -- he was abused as a child by his father, and grew up partly in foster care. One reason he auditioned for the show was to find the family he didn't have as a kid. And though he said everyone in the house became "really good friends," the group wasn't as tight-knit as he thought it would be. While in New York, the roommates were allowed to pursue a career path of choice. JD worked on public policy for the LGBT community center and for the gay-lesbian-straight network. "One of the reasons why we really got along was because we had the outlet of doing what we wanted," he said. Scott, 23, Salem, N.H. Scott isn't a big partier -- never has been, never will be. "I went to college for four years and I went to three college parties," he said. "Why? Because college is a place to learn and not to party." He felt similarly about his move to New York, saying going out every night to have sex, get drunk and do drugs is "B.S." Instead, he spent his time focusing on a budding modeling and acting career -- appropriate, as Men's Health magazine gave the personal trainer an award for his rock-hard abs before he moved to New York. "It's OK in the first episode they show me in the gym doing my thing. I worked in a gym my whole life like that's me. That's my hobby," Scott said. "But you know what's going to be great? When the stories start to unfold and you get to know me." Sarah, 22, San Francisco Sarah's passion is helping victims of sexual abuse through art therapy, which she had to put on the back burner in New York because she was always being followed by cameras. Instead, she spent her time helping a nonprofit called Free Arts that brings art programs to inner-city schools, and teaching art therapy at the Gay, Lesbian, ******** and Transgender Center. Sarah is currently in a relationship with a guy who lives in San Francisco, though she previously only dated women. She said her heart truly is in San Francisco, where she plans to live once the "RW" hullabaloo is finished. She said she "totally" understands why some NYC locals were hesitant to have their establishments filmed for MTV. "In San Francisco I have little coffee shops and bars and I would not want some crew coming in there and advertising their names," she said. Baya, 21, Salt Lake City One of the bars that allowed the "Real World" crew to film inside was East Village joint Angels and Kings, which is partly owned by Fall Out Boy musician Pete Wentz. Baya DJ'd there on Tuesday nights. Besides getting a gig as a resident DJ, Baya pursued her love of dance while in the city. After the show, Baya is staying in New York, moving to a Stuyvesant Town apartment with "RW" roommates Scott and Devyn. Baya said she wants people to understand that though she may look one way -- when we saw her she was shoeless and wearing leggings, a tie-dye shirt and tons of silver jewelry -- she has a variety of interests. "I love hip-hop dance, my soul is in hip-hop, but at the same time, I'm really rooted in the earth. That's my home," Baya said. "I'm a free spirit. Devyn, 20, Kansas City, Mo. Confident and outspoken, Devyn thinks the reason some New Yorkers weren't welcoming to the Brooklyn "Real World"-ers is because they're closet fans. "Nobody likes to be yelled at, but it's almost like a compliment," Devyn said. "You need more haters. That means you're doing something right." A former Miss Missouri Teen and Miss America Teen, Devyn attracted male attention while on the show, but she loves reciting the quote, "It is easier to get into heaven than in to Devyn." While in New York, Devyn was the public relations director for a new fashion label, and is set to transition into their spokesmodel. She also performed with a local rock band in Brooklyn. Katelyn, 24, West Palm Beach Katelyn is the first transgender person on the show, a fact she was reluctant to share with the roommates at first. "I didn't want to come in with this chip on my shoulder, like, 'I'm Katelyn, the transsexual,' and I dare you to knock that off," she said. "I wanted them to realize, 'Hey, this is Katelyn.' Transgender may be what I am but it's not who I am. Katelyn underwent gender reassignment surgery this summer in Thailand. She said she used the television exposure to reach out and do advocacy work in the LGBT community. She's also working on a book. "I can normalize the transgender label," she said. Ryan, 23, Gettysburg, Penn. Want to see Ryan's face light up? Mention Lower East Side spot Creperie. "We went there so many times, I might even go tonight," Ryan said. He is an Iraq war vet, and enlisted in the Army at age 17. While in New York, he got involved in veterans' organizations since he's now in the public spotlight. But he doesn't want people to only associate him with his military background. "Yeah, I was an Iraq vet, but I do other things, too," he said. That includes song writing, writing a book and taking classes at the New York Film Academy. Chet, 23, Salt Lake City Chet said he's not as unaware as some cast members of past, including Julie from the New Orleans "RW" cast. "While she [JULIE] found herself questioning what a condom was and confusing it for candy, I'm really not that kind of person," Chet said. "I'm 23 years old and I know everything from A to Z about sex, about drugs, about sexuality." That said, Chet, a Mormon, is a virgin and doesn't drink. "But Mormons can go out and have fun and dance," Chet said. "I love dancing. That's how I feel most comfortable." Chet hopes his outgoing personality -- and love of music -- will translate into a career as a host on a "Total Request Live"-style show. He noted the connections he made with MTV, hopefully they will help him with that pursuit. Thanks, LM! Great find! :)
Yeah, thanks. It was a very nice read and is interesting.
no offense. but im frigging sick of hearing about Scott and his "rock-hard abs" like who cares, right. I mean that's probably the only reason why he was cast. I despise that dude.
Chet kinda reminds of Matt from RW: New Orleans.

Be that as it may its still not everything. I have abs too but i dont go around parading myself.
Be that as it may its still not everything. I have abs too but i dont go around parading myself.
But some people are different. He prides himself on being a trainer, and his great body only greatens the chance that he can become a model. It isn't always bad to make yourself feel better.

Word up, D! :)
I think he "shows it" off to much to make a point, Like wasn't he a stick basically when he was younger, i've seen pictures of him in his myspace and there is one that he looks really skinny. So i think he does it to make a point "if i can do it, so can you." type of thing ya know.

Although the trailer doesn't show much of him.

I despise that dude.
How can you despise someone you don't know? (Ef it, I guess it doesn't matter, the show is coming out in a week anyway so hopefully it's not a big deal.) I met him; he was actually quite nice and funny. (Even if he did shank me a few times with his fake sword.) This show plays up what little pieces of your life and personality they think is going to be interesting. Cast members don't have full control over what is written about them. Chillax.... wait for the show before judging and even then you've dispersed too much energy. Sorry that was rant-y. It's just kind of difficult to read these kinds of posts and say nothing. More importantly the members who are here and who are reading are real people with or without the camera crew. Most everyone seemed really genuine and sweet; more like one of your friends than tv villians and drama queens. Think about that before trash talking... that's all I'm saying.
