I have two thought about this;
1. It's been soooooo long since the last season was aired, I can't even remember what happened &
2. How can Tony be alive?
Why does everyone, from every show have to come back from the dead?

Death was real and anyone could die. The fact that Tony is back discredits the series right out of the gate.
Still, I'll probably watch it to see where things are going. I have 6 years invested...

Tony did not.
The thing about 24....I'm so biased.
When 24 is good....its REALLY GOOD. When 24 is bad...its STILL GOOD because you can just laugh at it and its STILL FUN because its so unpredictable.

The writer's know and understand that season 6 blew....i think they'll come back as strong as ever.
GUESS WHAT. I have a Cubs mug. When people ask me if I'm a Cubs fan, I say no....i own it because Tony Almeida has had a cubs mug on his desk for every. single. season. When they blew up CTU in Season 2...the cubs mug prop SURVIVED so Carlos Bernard kept it forever.

Oh I will definately be watching. I too have invested 6 years, I'm just disappointed with the bringing Tony back life. I will definately be watch though. Maybe I'll be surprised...
Bringing Tony back is a liiiiiiiiiiiittle lame, but tony is SO AWESOME and the twist of making him the villain: genious! Could be the spice 24 needs to get back on track.
If I'm not mistaken, they're contracted through Season 8, right? With a movie to follow...last I read, the producers were STILL interested in doing the movie...but they said they'd wait til the end of the series instead of in between seasons like originally planned.

HOWEVER...some of my friends are convinced that there will be a twist and they'll reveal some sort of motive that will make his actions ok. Or that he'll rejoin Jack midseason somehow.
I don't care what happens. I just need Jack back. Immediately. haha

I will be the one to vouch for it: 24. Consider yourself redeemed.
For the first time in a long time, 24 felt realistic again. There was a world issue, with Jack in the middle, and it was BELIEVABLE for him to be in that situation.
Add in gunfire, the safety of children, and the inauguration of a new president and you get a SOLID 2 hours of television!!
I think the new pres is gonna rock...AND redemption sets up a sub-story which I imagine will be continued through Season 7. AND they showed an extended trailer for season 7 with scenes not shown before.
WATCH IT!
Alright, I watched.
It was 24. That is all I have to add. Same basic plot, different location, right down to the torture scenes, petty betrayal and treasonous government.
I am going to be hard pressed to watch this season. I think that they did it all in six years and there is nothing left to do.
Season 5 was probably one of the best, season 6 sucked and season 7 already looks like it is going to recycle the past.
I'll give it a week to see if the premiere brings anything new to the table...

Season 6 was terrible. Delete it from your mind and start anew!

-someone says 'schematics'
-jack kills someone (drink extra for torture)
-Chloe is rude to someone
-jack defies orders/breaks protocol
-a main character dies (or kills someone, like Chloe with the machine gun in Day 4)
-someone summarizes what happened in the past few hours
-someone gives someone else a suspicious look

-we like to drink whenever Tony shoots someone down (preferably in Day 3, when he's head of CTU)
-When tony does something ******
-when someone else does something ******
or we'll be like "WHOA THIS CHARACTER DID THIS AND I THINK THATS AWESOME....DRINK" so then we do. Shout-out drink additions ALWAYS WELCOME!

I think the reason 24 is wearing thin for me is the stark cynicism that it builds its stories around. As appropriate (in the eyes of some) as it may have been during the Bush administration to portray the majority of government as crooks, I have a new found [URL="http://www.nytimes.com/2008/11/05/us/politics/05elect.html"]optimism[/URL] and would hope that the story could focus more on the external bad guys and less on the bad guys amongst us.
Like I said, I'll probably watch but as soon as it feels like it is becoming a chore I am going to cut my losses, look back fondly and call it good.

I think that is totally fair and just of you! Season 6 was bad and the long wait for 7 hasn't helped. But at least you are giving it a shot!

I've never seen a show tank so badly since....well, Season 6 of 24 haha I can't STAND Heroes anymore. What a terrible, terrible show. It should be canceled and continued in comic form where grandiose plots that go nowhere and circle-walking is appropriate.
But don't fear! Jack [I]will[/I] be back. I have faith.
