Not Ruthie!! hmm very interesting. I wonder who got her out.. let alone choose her.
Are you saying that Derek is gone? Maybe? Ha, unless you just don't consider him a "manimal" or someone that could take Issac.
Sorry, I left out Derek unintentionally.
Yeah that is true. She could have easily been the chooser. We will have to see.
No waiting necessary. Ruthie made the choice, which means that no one protected her and she was not the winner of that day's female mission. The basic selection rule appears to be similar to The Duel.
IMO, I think that Coral V. Beth was EXTREMELY fake. It was all hype.
Of course it was ...... because they are both shrewd people who realized thta they were in a manipulated situation and decided to "flip the script" ...
As for Ruthie, I look at whose left, and think she picked someone that she thought would be a good challenge for her while not rocking the boat of the alliance ..... I'd guess she went after either Brittani or Paula. just my opinion.

Yay I was right!
Please oh please tell us who!
Eek, Ruthie is out? :( That makes me sad. I appreciate the spoilers, but I've got to stop reading them because I'm ruining some of the show for myself, and I've gotten some disappointing news from a couple of the departures. At least my favorite guys are still in the mix. I guess I will have to root for Rachel or Anessa to win (without seeing what they will be like on the show). It's weird that I am rooting for Rachel now. I did like her RR season and I liked her on the first BOTS. After that, she wasn't as likable to me, but compared to most of the recent pool of competitors she is one of the most interesting/entertaining people to me. And I do think she could compete really well, so I'd like to see her shine brightly in this challenge.
Jenn is another person I wouldn't mind winning.

Instead of rooting for someone -- which usually leads to disappointment -- why not just enjoy the experience? I have a personal favorite or two, but I long ago learned to be more a fan of the challenge itself rather than an individual. That way I can be angry at production for any shortcomings rather than cast members :)

Oh, I have always been a fan of the challenges in general. I'm not mad at Ruthie or anyone for being eliminated. They do what they can, and if they are beat, they are beat.
Lately I guess I have been even more a fan of the challenges than certain people on them. I do still look at the cast lists and hope for people I like and want to see win, but I do like the challenges overall, period. I am still looking forward to seeing this one regardless of who has lost their elimination rounds. I agree with you, it is better if you actually enjoy the shows in general than to just watch for one or two people.
I hear you, faceless, although usually for me it would have to be a big amount of people to ruin it (i.e. on G3 it was the Fresh Meat cast members, CT, and sometimes to a smaller extent, the Austin alliance and Tori in some instances). I guess that's when you have to look to other things to brighten up the situation. Perhaps notice someone you hadn't before. I didn't watch RW Sydney, but Cohutta seems like one of the nicest people. He wasn't in drama and didn't get a lot of screen time, but it was nice to have him on The Island, I thought. Look for the smaller things in the background. Sometimes you can find some funny or interesting things doing so.
Hopefully Duel 2 will have good missions to watch. Perhaps some nice friendships will pop up. Of course we will have to depend on BMP/MTV to show us these things, and they seem to be lacking the past several challenges in that regard, IMO. Although I felt there were a couple of nice moments they showed on The Island similar to what I described (and they all involved Abram, oddly enough).
I'm sad to see Ruthie is gone, but not that surprised. As great a competitor as she has been, she's a small girl and a lot of these elimination challenges have historically favored women who are--well, not big, but bigger than Ruthie, which isn't hard to be. I feel like almost anyone, given the right day and the right duel game, could have taken her out. That being said, I would guess she didn't pick Aneesa or Rachel, which still leaves quite a few people to pick from.
It's hard to enjoy the actual challenge as a whole when there are a few specific people who mess it up for me. Like Johnny and Paula did on The Island
that is soooooooooooo true
Every challenge I usually try to look at the challenge as a whole and enjoy it....though I can't help but to pull for my favorites....who seem to keep going home week after week blah. It's hard to tell if Ruthie was sent in because she was a threat, just on the outs, or maybe someone went after her. Either way seeing her go home isn't that surprising, she is strong but anyone could be caught by the Duel at any time.....like a certain someone who should still be there :P

Let me try to clear it up for you... The first person going into the duel is the one person not picked as though you were picking a tribe on survivor -- I pick you, you pick the next person, the person you pick then picks, etc,) until the only person not picked is Ruthie. She is automatically in the next duel and gets to pick who she goes against, except she can not pick whoever won that day's female mission.
Bottom line:
-- Ruthie did not win the days' female mission to become immune.
-- She was not protected by an alliance member, if she had one.
-- Ruthie could pick from among any of the remaining women except the one immune as a result of winning the day's mission.
-- On this day, Ruthie lost to the person she picked to go against.

Well I didn't know whether Ruthie had not been picked or someone who had been picked singled her out to go against. Anyway the whole picking system can seem pointless at times, even if you are picked by someone unless you're immune you can go in anyway but at least it is different for the way they usually pick things like it. Oh well whoever she picked didn't work out for her.
I expect that how people end up in a duel will be one of the more interesting reveals of the season.
There probably will be a backstory to each duel as well, ripe with incendiary drama from cast and other insiders:
How did Ruthie do in that day's mission?
Did Ruthie have an alliance that should have protected her?
Did she feel betrayed by that alliance?
Why was she not protected?
What was the status of the social relationships on that day?
Why did she pick XXX as her opponent?
How badly did the return flight suck, having 18 hours to ponder having lost?
I thought I'd add these pics here since they do contain spoilers...

In the first picture, is the "missing" cast member Aneesa or Ruthie, because I didn't see them (although there were a few cast members I don't recognize!)

Now that definitely sounds promising....there sounds like there are so many dimensions to the duels and how they came about. If there was an alliance in place and it didn't protect her then either she was on the fringe of that alliance or maybe they were worried for their own safety. Maybe her opponent was an alliance member since she felt slighted by them. Or maybe she pissed everyone off lol I get the feeling there might have been some shady business.
And thanks for the pictures....Katie looks awesome!
I agree GW her costume is really cute!
i agree too. She had the best costume by far. I guess brad was the ninja??? a lot of those costumes was just wack, but the party looked really fun I bet they all had a great time
thanks for posting the pics V1
Yeah, it looks like Brad recycled his ninja costume from that party they had on the Gauntlet 3. Is that Adam King in the back? I guess this must have been taken pre-fight.
I hope they continue to post dailies on the MTV site for this challenge. I think they're a lot of fun, and it would be nice to see pieces of this party.

Are Brad & CT the ninjas? They are the only males I can't instantly recognize
And I don't see Tori, Robin, Ruthie or Brittini but that might be Tori who is blowing Evan a kiss?
Here's some news for ya kiddies...
A source close to the challenge tells me that Kim beat Ruthie and Landon beat Isaac.
;)
It looks like Kim's doing really well! She might very well be the breakthrough rookie.
As for Landon I've been rooting for him from day one!
