GW, I think most agree that we just don't like Evan. ALthough at this point, I much rather prefer him over Kenny, even though they both suck.
i too prefer evan over kenny. they're worse when they're together
i hate kenny and johnny together
IMO... Kenny and Evan are much worse than Kenny and Johnny...
Can you imagine what The Island would have been like with Evan?? ugh.

It's been awhile since I have seen Evan and Kenny together, but I felt like Kenny and Johnny attacked people more personally, while E & K were just kinda annoying and sat off to the side cracking jokes.
Once again, my insights may be due more to the fact that this was my first challenge I have watched since discovering vevmo, which has opened my eyes to a lot more of the going-on's of the shows.

I honestly don't think I would have watched it.

God...the cast was unbearable as is, but with Evan and Johnny there to kiss up to Kenny? I agree. It would have been rendered unwatchable.

Not to worry. Evan would have been evacuated for sunstroke given how quickly the poor boy is losing his hair.
hopefully they can have a philly alliance that would be cool
Are any season alliances actually satisfying to fans? I've always though they got in the way of both smart and entertaining game play. If I wanted to watch Philly again, I would. But I don't want it on an challenge. It's just old, boring news to me.
I do see your point about it being interesting when people in the same cast don't automatically ban together. The cast sticking together seems more predictable. But I like seeing cast members from the same season being friends. It's only two Philly people, so it's not like a whole group of them out to save each other. And these guys aren't around each other a lot like the most current cast members, so it's sort of a different vibe to me. I predict that MJ and Landon would work together, with Katie and Mark (and whoever else might fit along with those two).

On season alliance that will never stop pleasing me is an Xtreme alliance. Derrick, Kina, and Jodi would be great for me! I guess Ibis might be able to fit there but she didn't do much for me on the Gauntlet 2. Then there's Danny who I dislike because of his temper and I just find him annoying and Jillian killed her chances in my book on the Gauntlet 3.
Bu there's no Xtreme castmembers on this challenge so I was liking the San Diego duo of Brad and Robin (why won't Randy do another?) Hey V1, do you know if Kina and Randy are still dating? I read somewhere she was dating some dj? But I knew how much she and Randy meant to each other and would hate to see them broken up.

You are months out of touch. Randy was randy in all the wrong places. Kina apparently finally realized it or got fed up with it. She has moved on. Further, I recommend the New Zealand cast departure spoiler thread to you.
Please keep in mind that we have a separate thread for discussion of other challenges.

How many episodes plus the reunion for RW Brooklyn?
I'd like to see them overlap this challenge and RW Brooklyn a little bit, like they did with RW Philadelphia and Inferno 2. They really rushed Inferno 2 out there. I remember reading it filmed in January, and they had it on air by March.
I don't know what all of the sweeps months are, though. That might affect why they would wait for a particular time to show a challenge.
I think a lot of fans wanted the hour format at first, so we could see more interactions between the cast members, but instead of making it one mission an episode, they made it more like two 30 minute episodes shown back to back. So yeah, I'd rather see the 30 minute episodes again as well, unless they were to make hour long episodes with one mission each.
I definitely prefer the 30 minute format for The Real World. It feels like everything is sped up much more for the show. With the 22 or more episodes of The Real World, it felt like there was more of a progression of the cast mates and the situations between them. Also, since it was shown over several months, it made it feel like you got more of a feel for the time them were there, if it makes sense. If they live in the RW house for three to four months, and it takes the show that long to air, it just feels like you are "with them" that long. At least that's how I feel about it. Again, just like with the challenges, if MTV would have just increased each episode to an hour instead of "combining two episodes," I'd feel different. But they used the hour format to cut the airing time in half.

They are not changing back.
I like the hour format, if only because I'm bad at waiting. ;) It also seems to leave room for there to be more than one or two real world/road rules shows a year, because they used to take around five months to air and now they take three months. What I really love, though, are the daily clips, which I think show a lot of what we've said we want more of on the show. I think it's a good compromise to keep only the most pertinent things in the show for the sake of cohesiveness but put the "extra' bits online so people can watch them. I also think it adds interest for the show and, of course, brings visitors to MTV's site. I hope they continue in this fashion for the next Real World and the Duel II.
I just like the 30 minutes fitted for a challenge like The Duel because it's an individual challenge. The hour long format with two players going home just feels so rushed IMO. I
I've confirmed that the cast was not told while they were in NZ how many episodes there would be. They are as much in the dark as are we. Just one more surprise to deal with.
