New Zealand, an island country in the south-western Pacific Ocean comprising two main landmasses (the North Island and the South Island) and numerous smaller islands, is know for its climatological diversity - so the shooting location of the challenge could presumably comprise anything from rain forests, to high mountain to beaches.

The cast is to depart October 27th and return in early December. We expect it will premiere spring 2009 at 10pm ET/PT on Wednesdays, most likely following the completion of The Real World Brooklyn.
Like previous seasons of the Challenge, it will feature cast members from various past seasons of The Real World and Road Rules, of which The Challenge is a spinoff. The cast will be comprised of 14 men and 14 women.

Duel Format
(From the original Duel. The format as usual may be altered for the sequel.)
At the start of each episode, the cast is told of the days event, and the host announces whether the male or female cast members will compete in the Duel that night. The competitive events can involve either members of the same gender competing against each other, or groups of both men and women competing against each other.
Each challenge has both a male and female winner. The winner of the gender not slated for the Duel is given a prize, while the other winner is safe from having to enter the Duel that evening.
The safe contestant begins a voting process by selecting a member of the opposite gender, who then selects a member of the original gender. This process continues until there is one person remaining of the given Duel gender. That person then selects a competitor of the same gender to go against him/her that night, along with randomly selecting which competition will occur.
Note: The selection process occurs immediately after the challenge, and unlike other formats there is not a period of deliberation between the end of the challenge and the selection of the contestants for the elimination game.
The loser of the Duel is eliminated from the game.
