There were major behind-the-scenes issues during Gauntlet 3 that resulted in what I can only describe as a "hostile work environment." Obviously, that would have been hard to enjoy. It does not mean that she has soured on future challenges. She had no interest in The Island and made that clear to BMP in a meeting before the Awards Bash.
She has been producing the calendar since 2005, the very years of her best challenge performances. She has only opted out of challenges when her business schedule precluded her "vacation" participation.
I don't think marriage is an obstacle to appearing on any network. If it were, that would make an interesting legal case. She is certainly not done with MTV, but she is finally out from under the time restriction from her Gauntlet 3 contract that kept her from other opportunities. . There were a couple of major shows that she would have loved to do last year, but she was contractually bound to BMP and MTV. We have had a number of interesting discussions about new shows. I hope one of them involves MTV, because Beth prizes loyalty. She wrote in one of her last G3 blogs that she would love to do a Battle of the Sexes, especially if CT, Evan and Kenny were involved.
I hate to sound cynical but do CT, E and K even like Beth?
I hate to sound cynical but do CT, E and K even like Beth?
I think the point was either sarcasm, or that Beth doesn't like them, so she wants to prove she can kick their *****.
Beth has no interest in BB. She didn't even watch it when we had friends on the show.
:( Wish she did have interest. Oh well. And it was iamonmtv that I wrote that. Hm... you're making me really think now V1 about which shows it could be... tell me not Flavor of Love or Rock of Love, LOL.

I think that would be a huuuuge insult to Beth. Give the woman some credit, eh? ;)
It was sarcasm, LOL. Her being better than that, and her getting married would prooooooobably stop it... LOL.
Phew. LoL ok :D
I hate to sound cynical but do CT, E and K even like Beth?
I'm not sure what "like" has to do with anything...
But, at the Awards Bash, a Diem-less CT spent most of the entire evening hanging around with Beth and her fiance. He made a point of telling Beth that she had been right about Diem all along. Beth found it odd a little funny given that she doesn't dislike Diem at all but disagreed with some choices that she had made, and given that one of Beth's major motivations for wanting to leave G3 was CT's erratic and dangerous behavior. Beth made sure to share CT's comments later with Diem through mutual friends, because she thought his comments we tacky and disrespectful.
I don't know if Kenny and Evan like Beth but they know she is 1) a huge ratings plus for any challenge, and 2) is potentially toxic to their game because she will call them out on any BS tactics they use. Beth and Evan certainly got along well enough to have an hour-long afternoon conversation at the Paramount Hotel in NY the day before an MTV taping several months ago.
Interesting but then again CT should've stayed with Diem. She casted a "better", if you will, light on CT.
CT didn't really have a choice in the matter, which is probably a really good thing since apparently Diem's father was none to happy after seeing CT's behavior toward his daughter during Gauntlet 3.
oh ok. Wierd. Diem still gets treated like Daddy's little girl. how sweet.
I have a daughter slightly older than Diem. If someone treated her the way CT treated Diem, I probably be facing 20 years to life. I think most father's instincts would be similar. It's not about being "daddy's little girl."
Yeah CT can be direspectful.
CT can be really disrespectful and Diem was a better half to him but I can understand why she would have ditched him. I don't like him aside from causing drama that is interesting to watch but other than that no way.

V1man... Could you (or anyone for that matter) tell me how he treated her? I never really watched any of the challenges... just an episode here and there...

Based on personal experience, I can't jump as quickly as everyone else in thinking he's a huge tool. A tool maybe, just not a huge one.

I'll admit that when I converse with him on facebook, he seems half decent. Quite different from his reality persona. Of course, I seem half decent on the internet too, so that isn't saying much. :wink2:
i wonder if everyone on tv acts differently in person or in real life.
No, not in my experience.
Just look at the things people write about the differences they see between an edited and unedited show. RW and challenge reunion shows are good examples. Any number of different characteristics and events can be highlighted in an edited show to make a person look a particular way, yet when they are recorded live with minimal follow-up editing, then more of their personality emerges.
I'm guessing that previous comments about CT bring out your question. My observation regarding him is that one-on-one he is fine, but when he is "on," in any setting, the darker, desiring to dominate, side of his personality emerges. Over time, it will either land him in a lot of trouble or he will learn to control that part of himself. With him, I don't think it has much at all to do with the presence of a TV camera. I've seen him behave the same arrogant, aggressive way in a hotel lobby. (Of course, he was either high at the time or had just eaten a powdered sugar doughnut.)

ok yea you have a good point there. I know the editing has a lot to do with it. But do you think the cast on TV try to portray themselves in a diff way despite the fact they know their footage will be altered or edited?

Sure, people try to fight production, but in the end, most fail. The best analogy I can make is to quote William Greener, an iconic figure in the PR world. He once wrote about the folly of fighting against a newspaper. He said, " You can't fight someone who buys ink by the barrel." Production casts most of their major cast members to fit a particular character in their notional storyline.
For example, during Gauntlet 2 Beth was portrayed as "Fat Beth" even though she is a size six (Men: the average woman's dress size in America is 14!) During both OTF and post-gauntlet day interviews, production coached cast members with questions about Beth's size. Most of what Beth said in response, or what other cast members said who disagreed with this approach was left on the cutting room floor. The most common thing Beth heard on the street when the show aired was "Hey, you look great. You've lost (so much) weight!" Her response, "It's TV. I've gained 5 pounds since the show taped last summer."

Ha! Fat-Beth my ***. She looks amazing, even better now than she did on her season! Like a fine wine I guess?? :)
v1 man whats OTF mean?
OTF = On-the-fly. It is an interview conducted in the field usually before, during or after some competition, event or incident. The other interviews are generally conducted in a hotel meeting room turned studio during challenge down days.
