Did Wes really NOT get his money from winning The Duel???

Wow....that is quite a story. I have not heard that before. Sounds like a V1man question to me. Do you know when it was posted?

Ok.......well the getting married part can be stricken from the record, as that was "last semester" and we know all future plans are on hold between Wes and Johanna. Not sure about the prize money. You would think something would have been floated around on message boards before now if that was indeed that case. I am looking forward to getting to the bottom of this one!

I'm new to the board. I hope nobody minds if I jump right in. :) Are you sure the "crazy in love" part was about Wes? Maybe that was about Danny. Isn't Melinda from the Midwest? Makes sense that they would be the couple moving to the Midwest as opposed to Wes and Johanna. (Especially since Wes and Johanna have seemingly split. :) ) I'd love to know if the part about the prize money is true. Seems like MTV is getting serious about spoilers. At least if they're given out on the radio. During the filming of the show. LOL.

I agree that it makes sense that Danny was talking about his relationship with Melinda. I assumed they were still talking about Wes. People need to make better use of the return key, lol! Where is V1man when we need him? I wonder if this is something that can even be talked about (i.e. if you say anything else we will snag your appearance fee too and never allow you back on a challenge?)

Wes is a favorite of many at MTV, so I don't believe this would have happened without my having learned of it from more than one source on the inside. I looked at the E site where the post originated. There is no way to verify that the poster and Danny were ever in the same state let alone be at his/her school. If Danny had said the things attributed to him, then he, too, would have violated his contract with BMP. It says you can't discuss terms of the contract. The fact that Wes would or would not be paid would be covered by a contract line item. Danny may not be the brightest light bulb out there, but he also is not stupid. I'm very suspicious.

Thanks V1man. I am very suspicious as well although it is sometimes fun to entertain such ideas. I am ready to bust this and say that even though it is remotely plausible, it is highly doubtful. My only question is why someone would make up that random story out of the blue. We obviously need more information if we were going to proceed in validating this notion. Even though I am not the biggest Wes fan out there, I think he would try and avoid breaking his contract on the eve of his chance at the big money of the Duel. He has to be smarter then that. I guess we will file this one in the highly improbable unsubstantiated rumor department and hope that we will gain a more concrete perspective in the future.

People think it will happen but not real yet. People make stuff up on the internet all the time. Most who do so enjoy the thrill of watching how people react to them. If its negative that create a new identity and press on... Gotta love the Internet where everyone is equal -- for a while -- until the idiot factor becomes obvious. I'll do some research about Wes... I need to talk to him anyway...

I just don't really buy this. I mean, Wes seemed pretty content about his win on the Duel reunion show and on the aftershow with Blair. He also said on both that he isn't planning on doing any more challenges, unless the prize is like a million dollars. So unless he didn't find out about not getting the check until months and months after he left Brazil, I just just don't think it's likely.

Thanks for the welcome! This seems like a great place! I hope they don't do Duel 2 next, either. I'd rather see the kind of old school challenge where the guys vs. the girls in the elimation round. This rotation of boys and girls is getting tired.

You guys make me sick, lol. I love The Duel format. Everybody for themseleves is kinda cool. The Duel is nothing but a spin-off of the Inferno anyway. Or am I wrong?

No update on this specific rumor, but I spoke with Johanna before the airing of her team winning the last challenge she was on. This is when she moved back to Peru to compete in the Miss Peru Universe pageant. I told her how shocked I was that she and Wes broke up and she said that lots of people were shocked. Wes was supposed to go to Peru with her but he didn't want to--so that played a part in their (amicable--per Johanna) breakup. This was also a month or so before her photo appeared in Maxim. She said that Wes would be walking around with that shot in his wallet and show everyone photos of his ex-girlfriend in Maxim. She was really nice. Answered all my questions. I told her that I hoped her team won the challenge even tho she would have known at that point whether she won or not. She graciously thanked me but I couldn't read into it whether or not she won (which she obviously did when Eric had a near heart attack on the final challenge).
