MTV's "The Island" to Premiere September 10th
The sixteenth incarnation of the Real World/Road Rules Challenge now has a premiere date via the MTV Remote Control Blog:

Great news for all you Real World/Road Rules: Challenge lovers: this season's footage looks better than ever. And while I don't want to give too much away, I'll say this: It involves Tanya, Robin, a desert island and a ridiculously attractive cast who spend the bulk of their time plotting against one another and prancing around in teeny-weeny bikinis. So check out this tantalizing preview clip and get psyched. From the looks of it, this latest challenge could be even better than the season where Evan refused to let a bowling ball-sized hernia in his crotchal region stop him from competing! Or the time when Tanya yelled "I'd rather be a ***** than a liar!" Well, almost.. Can't wait till the new season kicks off on September 10th? Sweet...a bit far though...
Sweet...a bit far though...
Two months. 1 week. ;)
It's better now that it has a premiere date set so that I don't have to keep guessing when it'll eventually come on. Like I've said before from the previews it looks awesome and hopefully it will live up to that come the 10th.

The Island is lushly tropical, not desert. Oh well, details, details... ;)
I can't wait...it looks like it will be a damn good show!
I cannot wait either, the trailer looked great.
Ahhh September, so far away. Makes me almost want summer to end and school to start... almost.
I can't waaaaait! 2 months isn't TOO far away, but what are we going to have to hold us over until then? lol
what are we going to have to hold us over until then? lol
We will spoil the whole thing, one excruciating detail at a time...BWHAHAHAHAHA!!
I cant figure out way its a s on Island
It looks a lot like Survivor...but that doesn't mean a bad thing
The preview looked REALLY good. A survivor rip off, but good nonetheless! Kelly Anne. ughhh. We really have to watch HER again?
We will spoil the whole thing, one excruciating detail at a time...BWHAHAHAHAHA!!
How very nice of you to torment us like that lol :P I am definitely a fan of the new format, unless it sucks then I never said that. But it looks like it will be a great one and two months will fly by before you know it.
they always make these challanges look great, they usually do live up to the hype. they made the last inferno look sick, with the bones and all. i remember the last challange when they lost eric and they still thought they won, i was screaming at the TV the whole time, "WTF YOU NEED ALL YOUR TEAM MEMBERS"! It was classic

Now with the name why didnt they call it The RW/RR Challenge: Deserted or something like that.
Now with the name why didnt they call it The RW/RR Challenge: Deserted or something like that.
Who knows? It could have been called something like Super Special Awesome Island Adventure so I'm fine with the Island lol Though they could have been a little more creative I will admit. Still what matters is the challenge and not really the name.

Then when they finished the mission and TJ didn't sound his airhorn, they looked confused I wonder if the episodes are going to be 1-hour again or 30-minutes. I wouldn't be surprised if they wer 1-hour, especially since this one has a survivor theme to it

thanks Phoenix
1 hour episodes have seemed to work for them. The Inferno 3 being half an hour kind of hurt it because in my opinion eliminations are the most exciting part besides the drama. What was the point of watching the episode if the eliminations didn't happen until the next episode.

For G3, I believe the challenge was conceived as a half-hours show and only after shooting did MTV change its mind and switch to a new one hour format. It will make all the difference in creating 43 minutes of seamless TV instead of only 22 minutes.

I don't think they would keep the attention because 22 minutes each week isn't a long enough time to get everything in.
The Island seems like an hour-long show. I also like it as an hour show because it gives time for them to do what they want instead of dragging it out too long or rushing it.

Way too dragged out and long. So how long is this Challenge going to go?
How many episodes are there going to be? My guess would be thirteen because that takes it right past the end of sweeps.
How many episodes are there going to be? My guess would be thirteen because that takes it right past the end of sweeps.
That could be a possibility. I think it should end a little bit before sweeps ends so they can gaurantee higher ratings than if they were to take it past sweeps. Although I would like the season to have more episodes.
