I feel ya, again I'm a day late.
What's everyone's feelings on casting Joey? There was some talk about another housemate being a "casting nightmare", wouldn't joey fall under that realm as well? I'm certain the producers knew he was very unstable before giving him the nod. Were they HOPING he'd go nutz? Seems socially irresponsible to put a guy that vunerable in that environment. I hope the guy pulls away from his demons and we don't read about him doing something crazy to himself.

Cee I have talked to Joey on Myspace (he is quite a down-to-earth guy) and he seems to have his head together. He is sober. I personally dont think his situation was as bad as Ruthie's...all he did was yell and punch walls. He did not get behind the wheel of a car or pass out!!
I adore Joey and hope we see him again on a Challenge (provided he strong enough to stay sober on one of those debaucheries)

Do you honestly think that our current (established) members would be mean or rude to Joey?? I can't speak for newer members but I know a lot of us, that have been posting on here since we first got word of the cast, are all routing for Joey. He seemed like the most normal guy in the house...as long as he was sober. I wish Joey nothing but the best and while I would LOVE to see him on a challenge, I don't think that would be what was best for him any time in the near future...I mean come on seriously, we have all seen what goes on while they are on location...from TV and from "the shit they should have shown" type shows.

Bacchus or V1 (or anyone else), any color or thoughts on how much knowledge producers had on his mind set before putting him on the show? I know they want ratings but casting a guy on the brink is really not cool. He's no Ruthie, as someone else mentioned, but then again did Ruthie ever discuss suicide?

ok what is your deal....Joey is one of the best cast members from the last 10 (and I'm not joking) seasons. Why would you not want him on the show? Who knows maybe his problem would have come up later and he would not have been in the position (ie on a show with producers that have the power) to get him into rehab (good grief my English teacher would cring if she saw that sentence!)

I am sure that production thought that it would be an interesting story to see how he coped with the "Real World" and hoped to get some good footage out of it (being they knew full well the house and surrounding clubs would be an alcoholics paradise.) I suspect they had no idea that he would practically have a psychotic break when under the influence and warp to a person far from the Joey we know and they interviewed.
That being said, it was great to have the opportunity to see his story and also to see that he wanted help (and got the help he needed.)
I am a big Joey fan and think that he definitely added to this season in the short time he was there. Hopefully we see more of him in the future in another more Joey friendly format (Come on Jackie, hire him for Work Out!)

Nah you got me all wrong, I think Joey is great. I just question whether or not the producers are casting folks that are "in trouble" hoping they will blow up on camera.

That is true, but it is a two way street if you understand that going into the endeavor.
Joey could use another venue to sell his wares, especially if he does want to pursue a career as a high end trainer/ fitness model.
If you look at the rate chart for the cast of Work Out, it isn't shabby and there are plenty of connections to be made in that part of town. ;)

There may be another production company that will be successful in bringing its fitness-based show to TV. Joey could well be part of the mix. It might even have a former Work Out sponsor that walked away from Jackie mid-season.

The difference in our perceptions may be that you are watching the show and I am talking to current/former cast and crew in additional to others well connected inside in the fitness industry, particularly in LA.

How many people here think he will really keep his mouth shut at the reunion once the questions start flying? Sure he is going to be trying like hell especially since he posted this...he will want to be true to his word BUT there is no way he is going to be able to keep his mouth shut once they start talking shit about him...he can't handle that kind of rejection.
