The Real World : This is the True Story (Season One)
The Real World New York Episode 1: The episode begins with southern girl Julie and her family in Birmingham. Her family is nervous about her living in New York City, but 19-year-old Julie is excited about spending three months in the big city. The seven strangers arrive at the luxurious loft that they'll call home for the next three months. Julie is the last to arrive and joins the group gathered around the dining table. After Heather's pager sounds, Julie inquires, "Do you sell drugs? Why do you have a beeper?" Several of the roommates wonder if Julie is racist. After introducing themselves, they explore the house and find a book on love and sex. As the sex discussion begins, it is revealed that Julie is a virgin. At dinner, Kevin, Julie and Heather discuss prejudice and racism. Kevin is impressed with Julie's open attitude, considering where she grew up. Part I Part II
Awesome. Thanks RealityWedding! I am Going to watch a few videos today for nostalgic purposes while I wait for the latest incarnation to show its ugly head tonight. Much appreciated. :D
Glad you like it. And yes, though I know it'll suck, I'll probably be watching the Hollywood premiere as well. I'm risking suspension over there by putting RW1 and other things out there, mostly because these kids who don't know any better think that seasons like Vegas, Austin, Denver, etc. are "da bomb"! Well, the bomb will blow up in their faces when they see the first season and realize how much the first cast had going on for themselves.
I need to return to this thread when I'm not at WORK but i keep forgetting!!
Weird Intro Though.
Hmm...I wonder what you mean by that. Do you think the "This is the true story of seven strangers..." opening is weird, the fact that it starts out with Eric calling it a "nightmare" is weird, or that we get to meet Julie's family as opposed to seeing forced set-ups of the roommates meeting at a specific point and going to the house together? Just wondering.
Hmm...I wonder what you mean by that.
My impression was that he meant it was weird in context to today's much flashier, overproduced intro...but I guess we will have to wait and see. ;)
...but I guess we will have to wait and see. ;)
From the looks of it, I don't think that answer will be coming anytime soon. I believe the same guy also posted comments on my videos themselves, and he has similar opinions about certain things. Guess I'll never know what's really on his mind. Oh, well. :ohwell:
SRY LOL I WAS SO MESMERIZED AT HOW I MISSED THE 90'S
It's all good ;)
i meant how eric called it a nightmare.
Thanks for clarifying! The only thing I hate about my vids is that they're from the DVD and don't have the original music. Eons ago, I had a tape of the first season which I got from Ebay (taped during one of its RW Theater airings). It had all the original music, end credit scenes (such as Julie walking out on Eric while he was talking to her in the shower [Eric was in the shower, not Julie], and Julie and Heather talking about putting a suggestion box in the loft). There was also their first reunion from '93 where they got back together in the loft for a weekend. Everyone was bitter! Entertainment Weekly came to interview them. Heather said that it felt like the "Julie and Eric show," Julie was mad that Eric never returned phone calls to her when she paged him (and acted like he was too good for them since he was hosting "The Grind" then), Andre didn't want to be bothered and brought a girl with him, etc. Only food and alcohol loosened them up and brought them back together. Also at the time, Julie was still in NYC trying to pursue dance. (I think it was '94 when she moved back to Alabama to take care of her dad who fell ill.) I always wonder what would've happened had she continued on in NYC. And did anyone get a chance to catch the pilot? I'm so glad changes were made (the production qualities upped, people being themselves as opposed to acting and music added). If not RW probably wouldn't have went past the first season!
Don't know if anyone else has posted this but i found the entire first New York Season on youtube, as well as some of LA & San Fran. here is the link: (Click on Youtube link) Real World Season One If someone else did find it and post it, sorry for the repost. It is a very good series to watch & can I say I love Heather B! Hope I've done good, and guys look at Andre he totally looks like Nicole Linkletter who wont America's Next Top Model. lol
