Tori in Miss USA
In case anyone is interested, the Miss USA website has pictures and an interview up on Tori's page (Miss USA® 2008: Virginia). The actual event is, I think, April 11th. I know that Tori's surgery probably hindered her training and she probably isn't where she hoped to be going into Miss USA, so I hope she just enjoys the experience. I'm not entirely sure what the Moulin Rouge-esque bustier is all about, but I'll assume that was not her choice.
Thanks MrsPlumBean. Ya...I am not sure that the outfit works for her....lol. However, I might just tune in just to see her. I have not watched in years, but think I'll give it a shot if my TV schedule is not too demanding that night. ;)
Hopefully we see the sweeter smarter side of Tori than what was shown on G3...
Thanks for the link! I never understood pagents. I can't even spell the word pagent.
yeah, I am not a big fan of that picture...she is a pretty girl...not Miss USA material in my opinion though.
ooohhh, we're bad :D *high-five* lol
Being bad feels so good :)
I'll just hang out in my lonely corner of Tori-love. :D
or knock out a tooth? LOL
She already had to have surgery! What more do you want?! Hee. I am laughing in spite of myself. FWIW, though I certainly can understand why people disliked her on RR and the Gauntlet (though I didn't), everything I've heard from people who have encountered her leads me to believe she's a pretty sweet person in "real" life.
yeah, I am not a big fan of that picture...she is a pretty girl...not Miss USA material in my opinion though.
I really don't understand how pageants work, and I've never understood how much of placing is determined by actual looks, but--and obviously this sort of thing is very subjective--I think Tori is a great deal more attractive than last year's Miss USA. Not my favorite picture of her, though.
Not a good picture of her at all. She looks much older than 21 in that pic, that's for sure. Tori.... I dunno, she's Tori. She can be a bad sport and a hissy fit throwing baby. But maybe outside the heat of competition she's not that bad?? Let's just hope she doesn't tell everyone she's going to pray for them on the pageant. I'm suprised she all but admitted that she was living 'in sin' with Brad on the G3 reunion and actually said that she couldn't 'officially' admit to living with him because of her Miss Virginia title. That's at least a step in the right direction of being more 'real', as a big complaint is that she's fake. But I would still laugh my *** off if she tripped! :D
But I would still laugh my *** off if she tripped!
I'd laugh even harder if she tripped on a question like Miss Teen South Carolina!
Since I met Tori during the early weeks of Viewer's Revenge and introduced her to Beth, I've found myself liking her more and more. I don't expect any of you who dislike her to understand. I'll just say that in my experience, I've found her to be substantially different that the edit I saw over two seasons. BMP seems to have difficulty in portraying confident, assertive women. And for the preceeding unkind remarks...I'll just assume that none of you actually mean them, otherwise...
Lighten up, v1man. No one REALLY wants her to fall. There's always a level of **** talking on message boards, it's the nature of the net. ;)
lol! Past Real Worlder as a future role model to America's youth? lets keep the 'reality' tv stars concentrated in 'reality'(cough.cough) tv.

I am not really wishing her any harm...just being *****y, I would feel really really bad if something even remotely similar to what I said happend.
I found this article about Tori at Style Weekly but what stunned me in it was this about Johanna, "Your grandmother brought this up that you're not into the "I need bigger *****, I need better cheek bones." How do you feel about the whole enhancement thing? It seems like pageants have this as baseball has steroids. It's absurd. A friend of mine is doing Miss Peru ... and she -- they told her all these things she needed done to her. She needed breast implants. She needed a better nose. You just are taken aback. Can't you just be happy in your own skin? That's what bothers me. She didn't do it. They haven't had their finals yet and it probably will have a big weight on whether she places or not. It's really, really sad that they want to have these plastic Barbies that we're not. It's sad" And it is sad.

I should also have inserted a :devil2: at the end as well.
A friend of mine is doing Miss Peru … and she — they told her all these things she needed done to her. She needed breast implants. She needed a better nose.
I agree. Johanna is perfect the way she is. :D
I agree. Johanna is perfect the way she is. :D
I would call that *** kissing Bacchus, but I am sure it's not the kind of *** kissing you would really like to do :)
I would call that *** kissing Bacchus.
Oh, you are one to talk missy! ;)
Oh, you are one to talk missy! ;)
I know, I had to get you back for telling me that with Parisa. Actually for me, I say mean things and then I feel really guilty about it so I back track. I used to be such an evil natured person with no regrets, but I turned a new page in the book when I hit a certain age...I have a conscience now **** it.

Tori's given people who dislike her plenty of hateable material to work with, so the fact that her body and what people perceive to be its imperfections is where people immediately go to make mean comments about her says something. With all that we put out there, should we really expect the rest of society to behave any differently? Good for Tori and Johanna for being secure enough in themselves to know they're beautiful as they are, and that if winning a crown means surgically altering yourself to meet someone else's standard of what is attractive, it's not worth it. Let me be clear--if plastic surgery will make you happier, then great. Go for it. But I don't think it's ever something someone should do for someone else. jguitar, do you have the rest of that article? it sounds interesting. Thanks for the input, V1Man! It's nice not to be the only person here who genuinely wants to see Tori do well. :)
Click on Style Weekly, it is the link.
Ooops, silly me. I still haven't figured out how to work the links around here. Thanks! Interesting that in this interview she DOES essentially admit to living in Chicago. She at least half-heartedly denied it on the reunion show. I still think it's ridiculously unfortunate that she had to have abdominal surgery a few weeks before doing a swimsuit competition when this is the only shot she'll ever have at this. I'm glad to see that she seems to be taking it in stride and seems like she won't be crushed--or even particularly unhappy--if she doesn't win, which I assume she now won't.

I have seen the other contestants. ;)
Lets be honest here.....I don't think her chances were really that good to start. I have seen the other contestants.
Hee. Well, yes, winning would have been a long shot, but most people who predict these things put her in the top ten. I'm not sure she'll get there now.

Isn't Heather Mills going to be one of the judges?
The only reason I assumed she would never win is because she was on a reality show previously and the judges will probably hold that against her. Isn't Heather Mills going to be one of the judges?
...and I assumed she could not win because she just is not as good looking as many of the other competitors. From my point of view I do not think she was even in the top 3 hottest women on the Gauntlet, let alone Miss USA! (I will not even get into inner beauty.) I guess to each their own. These days magazines love putting spaced out, gaunt 6'1" rails on magazine covers so maybe my perception of beauty is no longer with the mainstream...
