Seems to be a lot of people on here that liked it. I have it at home, like I said. Gonna watch it this week. I've heard SO MANY good things about it!
it is awesome, top gun in fact.
K, I finally watched it...overall i liked it. Casey Affleck was good! the story was good! I wasn't totally CRAZY about it, but a SOLID choice for a watch.

Good to hear. Now I can tell my b/f I 'know' other guys who liked it ;)
So we finally watched it last night. I thought it was GOOD! Kind of hard to watch at some points....and the ending had me really torn. In fact,
after they showed Casey Affleck's character go back to visit Amanda and her mother, I was so sad, and wishing that he would have let her stay w/ the cop instead...right or wrong....

I know, it makes you think....and I think Casey Affleck is an excellent actor!
I just watched this the other day and think it was one of the best movies I have seen in quite some time. Casey Affleck was perfect in his role, the twists were gripping and I especially enjoyed the hard edge South Boston setting à la Good Will Hunting.
Hard to believe this was directed by Ben!
This thread has been dead for years.
However, it is on WGN and I am watching. Wow, Casey Affleck, great acting.
This is a great movie that most people still have not seen...
Okay, I want to see this movie so bad. It used to always be on one of my movie channels and I would ALWAYS come into it at the same part. Literally, every time. It had Casey Affleck and Michelle Monaghan's characters in a bar and then some guy comes in and starts yelling at them or something. It's kind of towards the end and I feel like it was an important moment but literally every time I would put it on, it was that part.
So moral of the story, I need to watch the whole movie... I've heard nothing but great things.

Make sure you watch it end to end on a movie channel or on DVD. With the cable version, every other word is substituted (Frog you ****it! What the Freeze? Haha) and they cut out some of the best scenes because of graphic violence (but you need to see those scenes to understand.)
We are talking about South Boston (aka Southie) here. If you don't have a swear word in a sentence, you are doing it wrong...
I love this movie. It's one of the rare films that is as good as the book was. The 5 other books in the series by Dennis Lehane is awesome too. I wonder if they'll make any others into a movie. He's had 3 of his 9 books adapted into films so far. I thought Mystic River was just too depressing for me, but just saw Shutter Island and thought it was great too (unfortunately, reading the book ruined the surprises for me though),
