Real World/Road Rules Franchise In Danger of Cancellation?
K everybody, we really need to watch this challenge, they could be endangered! Here is from Evelyn's myspace blog she just posted...
The Gauntlet 3 Well, word's out so I can speak a little freely about the next challenge now, the Gauntlet 3, airing on January 23 @ 10. First off, you guys need to watch the show. Tune in, try and get friends into it, because I think that if this one doesn't fare better in the ratings than Inferno did, it could be the end of the franchise. I'll admit, the Inferno wasn't the most entertaining thing in the world, but this challenge should be quite different. It's chock full of hookups and fights, they were happening on the daily. Besides, would you really prefer yet another Laguna Beach spinoff? Because that's what you've got to look forward to if the Challenge is gone. That, pimping cars, or fat camp documentaries. The competitions were grueling and the eliminations were extremely physical, you won't be seeing any ladder climbing or luggage carrying on this one. Just good old brawls down in the sand to survive. It was as unpredictable as ever and the game got very dirty very quickly. And with 30+ castmembers, there's got to be a favorite out there for everyone, even the most discriminating fan. Check out IamonMTV.com when the show comes out for blogs and insider info from the cast.
List of Challenges:

Road Rules: All Stars (1998)
All-Star Challenge (1999)
Challenge 2000 (2000)
Extreme Challenge (2001)
Battle of the Seasons (2002)
Battle of the Sexes (2003)
The Gauntlet (2003)
The Inferno (2004)
Battle of the Sexes II (2004)
The Inferno II (2005)
The Gauntlet II (2005)
Fresh Meat (2006)
The Duel (2006)
The Inferno III (2007)
The Gauntlet III (2008)
Alright, you twisted my arm. I guess I'll watch. :D
if this new one is anything like inferno iii, i say pull the plug.
I really think this season will be better than the last one. Enough of Susie and Tonya, let's get some real firecrackers in there!
I get a kick out of the fact that Ev is pimping it. You know they don't want to have to go out and get real jobs! What would they do if the show was canceled? Wait tables? This franchise is the only thing that keeps them visible so they can get bar tour bucks.
Well in her defense, I think she is still in college in New York. And I don't think she really does appearances. At least, she doesn't have the email address for booking or the calender of events on her page. So the challenges are probably not too bad a way for a 20 year old to help pay her tuition. As far as the thirty plus year olds that rely on appearances and challenges, they may be screwed. ;) In other news, it looks like Evelyn has moved on from allegedly being dumped by Brooke. Her status says In a Relationship.

I know, right?? Well I am hoping that the ratings were so low because last season was pretty ******. Plus there's always rumors. I always hear that RW is on it's last legs and it just seems to keep on going.
i SUPPOSEEEEEEEEEEE ill watch haha
Both Real World and the challenges have been renewed by MTV.
Sweet! Thanks for the info... how do you get your insider info? or can you not tell..
I have business relationship with many in the reality community. Others here already know it. www.realitytvstuff.com I was in NYC at MTV when I was told by a producer the news of the renewal of both Real World and the challenges.

My company trains people for reality show interviews and help people prepare audition tapes. Add an extra 0 to the 100 and we are in the ballpark. Sadly, we offer you no guarantee because the networks hate that we train people how to be "real."
So can you get me on RW21? LOL!!!!!
No, but after the season is over, I'll be happy to take 20% of every dollar you make.
No, but after the season is over, I'll be happy to take 20% of every dollar you make.
Finally, some truth telling! LOL! Of course, you provide the opportunities to make that other 80% in the first place, right?
Finally, some truth telling! LOL! Of course, you provide the opportunities to make that other 80% in the first place, right?
I think all of that just went over my head.
Finally, some truth telling! LOL! Of course, you provide the opportunities to make that other 80% in the first place, right?
Yup, it does take a lot of 20%'s to pay for my Saab convertible. No work, no pay! No pay, no play... We just missed out on getting someone on Celebrity Apprentice (made the top 50). The appearance fee this season is something like $100,000. For Surreal Life it's $75K for 12 days work. Back in the dark age of reality TV, I recall NBC paid the women on Average Joe: Adam Returns only about $25 per day per diem. Back then, NBC could have a top 50 show in the ratings and still make a fortune.

More power to ya, though!
i often say that i hate how reality tv has become all models and actors, but when i think back to the good old days, big brother 1 almost put me to sleep with those real boring people! a little flash doesn't hurt keep the audience interested and if that means getting show business people, so be it.
