The Real World San Diego: La Jolla - Sam McGinn

The girl who looks like a dude is from Virginia and is gay.

Thanks to this, I have our first female cast member out of pure luck, Samantha "Sam" McGinn. She attended Hickory High School and based on the dates, probably graduated around 2007-2008. I actually remember coming across Sam's Real World audition tape a year or so ago on YouTube and she had mentioned in her comments that she had made it fairly far in the casting process for the season in question (NOLA, I believe). That unfortunately appears to have been taken down, but was a great look into her life. If I remember correctly, she was attending some sort of community college but I cannot remember for the life of me what she was studying. Yes, she is gay. So not only does she look like a guy, but her name is Sam? A name that is common for both men and women? I don't watch many reality shows, but is this a case of a producer's dream or just a unique person?

I have some LGBT friends who do the same thing because they want a different gender connotation to their name (i.e. Joanna is Jo) but are attached to the name their parents gave them. It's easier to do than you'd think. :)

Or just her close ones?
