As the show opens, Cat Deely introduces the final 6 competitors: Courtney, Chelsea, Katee, Joshua, Twitch and Mark.
Mark and Chelsea are up first with a Viennese Waltz. They dance to The Time of My Life by David Cook. They looked beautiful dancing even though I really hate waltzes. Adam Shankman says it was really beautiful and Mark’s rise and fall was the best he’s seen out of the males on this season. Nigel says “it was romantic.”
Chelsea performs her solo next. She dances to When I Grow Up by the Pussycat Dolls. I hate this song, but Chelsea sure is sexy! She does a great job.
Twitch is up next with his solo. He dances a hip-hop routine to Midas Touch by Midnight Star. He performs in his signature glasses and a grill! After Twitch is done and walks over to Cat Deely, she tries on his glasses and Nigel tells her to put the grill in too. She says “ok, might as well. Hand them over, spit and all,” and then she actually puts them in her mouth! EWWWW!
Up next are Katee and Joshua with a contemporary piece. They dance to All By Myself by Celine Dion. They do a lot of really amazing lifts. At one point, Katee does a split leap into Joshua’s arms which was done perfectly. Adam points out that Paula Abdul is in the audience and that she is the one that gave him his start. He says to both Katee and Joshua, “you guys just became the holy trinity of So You Think You Can Dance.” Mary says it was so filled with passion and that she sees both Katee and Joshua in the finale, and then she screams. Nigel points out that Gillian Lynne (choreographer for CATS) is in the audience. Nigel tells Joshua that it is outrageous that he has no formal training and that he “delivered brilliantly.”
Twitch and Chelsea are up next with the mambo. In practice Chelsea gets her face stuck in the crotch of Twitch’s pants. They dance to Ahora Me Toca a Mi by Victor Manuelle. Chelsea is whipping around so fast that things are flying off of her. They look great but they messed up on a trick. None of the judges say a single thing about the mistake. Adam says “I’m telling you Chels, you were on fire!” He also says to her that he has yet to see anything she can’t do. Adam tells Twitch that he needed to be a little bit more animal because Chelsea was. Mary says Chelsea is a firecracker and tells her “ you are so fabulous when you get in the Latin style that no one can touch you.” I have to say, I agree with Mary; Chelsea is just smokin’ hot! Mary also tells Twitch that she is very proud of him. Nigel says they did great.
Katee is up next with her solo. She performs to Maroon 5, Can’t Stop. She finally did something a little bit different in her solo, but it was still kind of boring to me. Somewhat like Comfort, Katee is a great dancer when given choreography, but her solos always have the same boring moves.
Joshua performs his solo next. He dances a hip-hop routine to Like That by Memphis Black. I think Joshua is a way better dancer and far more entertaining than Twitch is.
Courtney and Mark are up next with a jazz piece to The Garden by Mirah. Courtney is wearing a corset and underwear. Needless to say, she looks hot. The routine was really good and really funky; I loved it! I PREDICT Mark will stay for another week. (sorry for the lame RW joke, hehe) Adam says “that was sick!” Mary says “that’s a weird love story going on; I can tell you that. And I loved it!” Nigel said the dance personified the choreographer, but last time I checked, the choreographer was already human. I could be wrong though.
Katee and Joshua are up next with the Paso doble. They perform to Filet by Le Reve (original soundtrack). Katee looks absolutely gorgeous and Joshua looks pretty good himself with his shirt off! The entire dance was incredibly intense and they did an amazing job. You could feel the tension in the air. Adam says “Joshua, I feel like you’re making me believe in the impossible” because Joshua shouldn’t be able to do all of this without any formal training. I thought at one point, at the end of auditions, Joshua had said he had a little bit of ballet training. Oh well. Adam says to Katee that he can’t wait for her to see this dance on TV because she did such an amazing job. He loved it. Mary says, in a creepy, calm voice, “when Joshua and Katee are together, True Magic happens.” Then she screams. Nigel tells them it was fabulous, which is the only other adjective he knows beyond fantastic. Nigel also says to Joshua that if he continues to dance like that, he’s going to steal the show.
Courtney performs her solo to Rock Your Soul by Elisa. She has great technique and great spins, but it was boring.
Next up is Mark with his solo. He dances to Bum Like You by Robyn. It’s quirky, of course, and very good. He takes his shirt halfway off towards the end. He is such a cutie!
And finally, Twitch and Chelsea are up next with a hip-hop routine to Control by the Vitamin String Quartet. It is a very cute and artistic routine. Adam says “thank you for making me so happy.” Mary says “Twitch, you’ve been absolutely stellar; outstanding.” Nigel says “you can watch this show even if you don’t give a damn about dancing.”
