Wow, Veronica's having a baby! Congrats to her. Always interesting to hear about the "old school" cast members and how their lives have/are changing since leaving the shows.
And mizwood, Veronica still likes guys as far as I last heard.
No. She got pregnant through the use of magic.
I think you understood what I've meant. I just wonder if she is going to be single mom or have a nice guy in front of.
I really feel like in the end I will only be able to look back on this season and say it was alright. I do however feel like everything is building up to a rookies vs vet challenge next which I am already much more interested in. I want to see how all these big ego hothead rookies react when they're going head to head with Challenge staple beasts like CT, Johnny, Landon, etc. Should be high drama and competition. This season is just kinda meh for me right now because it's a bunch of inexperienced rookies controlling the game with an alliance and manipulating all the challenges to dictate how the game works out. We need an old school preform or go home challenge to knock these kids down a peg or two.

Don't the Veterans do that every season? Why is it such a problem when Rookies do it?
Really? I thought the Ruins was one of the best challenges post Fresh Meat era.
I also agree...by far the best format since Fresh Meat
And there was definitely some good drama: Darrell vs. Brad, Dunbar vs. KellyAnne, Veronica vs. Tonya, JEK vs. Tonya, Evelyn & Wes vs pretty much everyone other than KellyAnne, Veronica dodging another elimination round (poor Ibis) and even Derrick flipped out on Johnny at one point. We even had a rookie reach the final by earning it.
Only problem was how unbalanced the final teams were. I really wish Darrell & Brad hadn't gotten into a fight--would have loved to have seen who they would have sent in to face Brad in the final elimination round--my guess is Johnny

Seriously one of my favorite Challenge moments ever. Love the smirk on Veronica's face "Ibis vs. Kimberly" *Makes troll face* Lol!
Also, Ruins was the last challenge to be called "Real World/Road Rules Challenge", after that it was just "The Challenge: This season has more FM than actual RW/RR Alumni errr I mean Fresh Meat 2"
Don't the Veterans do that every season? Why is it such a problem when Rookies do it?
Personally it's hard for me to root for Rookie alliances if I don't know or recognize some of the players, especially when they are up against players I'm already familiar with or rooting for.
However, I think part of the problem some people have is that it looks like you have what looks like a Rookie team filled with "Caseys" winning and running the game. Some of the Vets alliances were filled with *******s, but at least they were strong competitors and therefore made the challenges interesting to watch. I hated seeing CJ and Jonna win a strength challenge when it had nothing to do with strength and everything to do with their alliance keeping rocks out of their basket. BIG thumbs down to that. I hate it when Survivor does the same thing.

Literally my favorite moment ever. Hilarious.
Didn't realize so many people like The Ruins...But I didn't. It just had this very negative vibe to it. Most of the drama that happened wasn't exciting or fun to watch. It was just sad and painful to watch. Top that off with the unbalanced teams and JEK winning it all and you have (in my mind) one of the worst challenges ever second only to the Island.
I remember KellyAnne saying at one point "This game is not fun!" She was absolutely right. There was nothing fun, friendly, or lighthearted about that challenge...it was just a depressing black hole.

I loved the Ruins. Best challenge post Fresh Meat era. It had real drama & rivalries much like the old Gauntlets & Infernos.

So? Why is that a problem? Plenty of people in the past have ran the challenges but haven't been particularly strong. Why is it such an issue now? Because most of them are Rookies? So people who've only done a 495945894032 of these things get to dictate the challenges now? Why?
Seriously people are way to hung up on the competition side of these things. It's not everything.

Agreed--possibly my favorite moment in the series in years. The best was Johnny was so dumb he voted for Ibis.
I really think those that hated The Ruins were just mad that JEK won. I don't like JEK but it really was a solid season.

No way, I think the hate for Zach and Frank has blinded some people and forgot that JEK are the same crap. Kenny, Johnny and Evan never proved themselves on eliminations. I found it funny that some people said that they want Johnny back when he and Frank in my book are the same - they both like to run their mouth and they like to control the game.
Just because you don't see Johnny in this challenge, don't forget he is the same jerk (maybe worse) as Frank.

You keep trying to rehash this--countless people have explained this. A lot of people watch PRIMARILY for COMPETITION and want "the rookies" to earn respect--you do that by winning challenges (that aren't easy to manipulate) and elimination rounds. You see it differently but clearly are in the minority. See the ratings.

And therin lies the problem.
Oh and just so you know. I may be in the minority but it doesn't make me wrong and you right. And I really don't care about the Ratings either.

It isn't a problem. People don't have to watch for the same reasons. You want everyone to see the show how you do--that's not going to happen. Many, like myself, just care about competition (that includes politics). Which is why I think the third episode this season was the worst episode ever during the series--other than maybe some from the Island. And you probably loved that episode. This is why the show needs a balance--which they currently lack. Ratings matter whether we care about them or not. If you want the show to survive people have to watch--this season didn't create interest--too many cast members that those that don't watch the Real World don't know

Look I wasn't saying that everyone has to watch for the same reasons. You and others can watch for the competition all you want..doesn't matter to me.
Oh and I though the third episode was decent...wasn't as strong as the first 2.
Its hard to believe that we are already five episodes into this season! So far, i'm enjoying it a lot. I think its strange, however, that we still have 'invisible' cast members, even as more and more people are eliminated. For the girls this season, the three that come to mine are McKenzie (until she was eliminated), Laura, and Sam. Its like I don't even see them just around the house. For the guys, its mainly Robb and JD. They don't show a lot of Derek either but I imagine that will change since there is a confrontation coming up consisting of him and Robb. I don't know I just think its strange!

I'm not hung up on anything nor am I saying who does or does not have "the right" to dictate anything. Different strokes for different folks.
I was expaining why, to me, this season is not as interesting nor as fun as other seasons. It doesn't make me right or wrong, just another viewer, who just also happens to not be enjoying this season very much aside from Team Vegas and Team Brooklyn. I want to root for one of the stonger alliance teams, but it's hard to root for a team I'm not seeing do anything particularly well nor much of anything for that matter. It's just bleh and meh. The strategizing isn't even particularly interesting either this season.
To me it's just been a bland season of higher numbers, very little effort, and new people trying way too hard to be Challenge-significant (Frank, Jonna, etc.) rather than allow a natural connection with the viewers. For example, I find Jonna laughable standing next to Trishelle. Love her or hate her, Trishelle IMO has been an interesting castmember without having to try so hard to stand out as much as Jonna and her Barbie tutus. Whether it comes naturally or because she is a better actor, Trishelle just seems more of an interesting character without having to do as much camera pandering. And I'm no Trishelle "fan", but she makes the show more interesting FOR ME. If it were not for Trishelle and Alton, the season would be a complete bust IMO. They have brought something organic to the mix that I feel is strongly missing. Plus, if Alton was not going against the dominating alliance, I don't think there would be any other "story" because the personality and Reality TV "It" factor is lacking.
I think this season is just a set-up anyway, so it doesn't matter.
One of my all time favorite eliminations was the Bug Head Jar from the Inferno. I would love for them to redo that one. I always preferred the fear factor type challenges more than endurance ones.
Didn't see this noted anywhere so sorry if it has or if this is in the wrong place, but last night on Ridiculousness, TJ Lavin said at the start that they are doing another season of the Challenge. He said he's done 13 seasons and this new one will be his 14th, so since this was a new episode I'm assuming his 13th season was BOTS2 and that his 14th will be the new one, but I'm sure someone can correct me if I'm wrong...

NOBODY had fun on "The Ruins". It wasn't about JEK dominating the game, it was about the conditions. The house was empty...all there was was a pool and cheap alcohol. The cast was only allowed out like 2-3 times the entire time (5 weeks). On prior challenges the cast had things like pool tables, pinball machines, slurpee machines, group cellphone, digital cameras, computers, iPods...they were allowed to meet locals and explore the city they were in...the cast would go out very very frequently. On "The Ruins" the cast had no freedom and apparently production didn't treat them politely.
When the cast went out, they were sectioned off and weren't allowed to leave the "boundaries" so they couldn't interact with the locals. Before they were allowed everywhere.
Katie said they weren't allowed to even make a sandwich! They were given cup ramen noodles...
So apparently Veronica is pregnant; that is atleast what is being reported on MTV.

No one said the cast mates did have fun. That has nothing to do with fans watching the show. By "those" I mean the fans
Once upon a time, I was a young 7th grade boy would had a MAJOR crush on a girl from a show called Road Rules. 12 years later and a bunch of challenges later, she's still my favorite cast member from any Real World or Road Rules season. Congrats to Veronica!
