Her being drunk doesn't have anything to do with being put in an awkward situation that was more suitable for Maury Povich or Jerry Springer. It affected her ability to express herself, but it doesn't detract from how ridiculous it was. She could have been stoned cold sober and I'd still have felt bad, because the SITUATION was uncomfortable to even watch.
You are giving BMP and MTV way too much credit. How do you say this is unlike other things that BMP/MTV have done on reunions and casting specials? Did you not see the Hollywood reunion where they (ridiculously and just for drama) brought out Janelle????? This isn't some form of classy, high entertainment. It might not be as bad yet but RW and the challenges are on their way to being just as trashy as Bad Girls Club or even, one day, Jerry Springer. Just look at a few segments of the past challenges. Believe me, as a person that has watched The Real World, Road Rules, and challenges from the beginning I wish things were different but the truth is the truth. The show has become ALL about drunken fights and hooking up and actually playing the game has taken a backseat. Why should Laurel, or anyone, expect different? So yeah, I don't feel sorry for Laurel. She should have known what she was getting herself into and should have been smart enough not to get sloppy drunk. Everything that came after her first cocktail (in terms of her looking bad) is her fault. Same goes for Paula.
Paula was definately wasted out of her mind. She just had this very strong undertone of not caring anymore. I'm neutral to her, but it was uncomfortable to watch.

Seriously, some of these fools act like winning a challenge is like the answer to life. As if being famous for being a reality television show, traveling to beautiful countries, getting free under armour gear, and getting paid just for showing up isn't enough. I don't know why some of them like Paula, Brad, etc. are so obsessed with winning.

Since her original season of Real World she has shown time and time again that she has an issue with substance abuse. If I remember correctly even BEFORE she was on the real world she and her boyfriend were arrested for getting drunk and beating each other up. With Paula there is really no denying it......she has a problem. The challenges are not the problem, though with all the drama and backstabbing I am sure they make it worse. This girl would be smart to check into rehab or at least seek help. I think people are now noticing it because it's no longer a sporadic thing......a majority of the time we see Paula (other than her confessionals) she is wasted beyond belief. This has held true since Key West.

I think she is obsessed with winning, because she feels she can control her own fate in these games, unlike in her real life, which is sad. She made it to the finals before, so she tastes the win, now she just has to complete a game she invested so much time in. As far as Camila goes, she was not invited to the reunion. They never planned to call her on stage. If they had time and everything ran a little smoother, I am sure they would have brought her up as a "treat" for the audience, so she got made up just in case she did get any camera time.
Just saw the reunion and WOW they left so much stuff out! I already posted my whole re-cap but I'm surprised they didn't show Laurel walking off stage 'cause of Abram!! I'm not surprised they didn't show the cast complaining about the housing conditions for LITERALLY 40 minutes. The Big Easy & Laurel lasted so long. It continued off camera and it was very uncomfortable. Laurel got a good edit She was WAY worse live. Tyler talked about himself a lot more. When the topic was about was Derrick, he would blab about himself. We were all like huh?
That is simple human nature. When someone gets hurt it's natural to cheer for them, root them on, and hope they get better. I know your comment is not directed towards me cause as far as I can remember I've never even commented on TJ Lavin in terms of his accident or otherwise, but I think it's strange that it "chaps your ***" that people are rooting for him, like him, and hope he gets better. Maybe I'm misunderstanding or missing something but I honestly don't get why this would make you angry? If anything I think it is awesome that people are rallying behind him and letting him know that he is appreciated. Sure, they might not have expressed how much they liked him, but it just seems like a perfect case of you don't know what you got till it's (almost, in TJ's case) gone.
While I regret his injury and am happy he is on the mend, I still don't like TJ and still think he should be replaced as challenge host. I've held that view for several years, so I see no reason to change out of sympathy for his injury.

The universal complaints regarding somewhat similar cast issues for The Island and The Ruins were not shown either in those reunion show edits.
It has nothing to do with people wishing he gets better, its the "OMG, TJ is such an awesome host, I can't wait till he comes back." "He's so funny." It's fake as hell. Especially when people ***** and ***** about how hes a ****t host who can't mind his own business regarding his opinion on quitters on other castmembers athleticism.
I 100% agree with you, tjhallow, on this. Of course it is a natural response to hope he gets better and cheer him on, but there have been people on vevmo who thought he was a bad host, and then once he got hurt, started stating how good of a host he was and how they hoped he would be ready for the next challenge.
I might be in the minority, but I have always liked TJ. I thought he was excellent this season and was actually given the opportunity to express his opinion about competition. I hope he comes back and gets to do that more!
I too would like to know what Tori said- she's definitely not one to hold her tongue.
I second!
Cara Maria said that Camila wasn't invited, she bought her own ticket to watch the show. Hence why she wouldn't get brought out.
It's been said that she was going to come out but the Eric-Laurel discussion lasted much longer than it was intended to. But to join the discussion, I always liked TJ as well, it's just that his accident and him getting more airtime on the challenges (which coincidently happened around the same time) made me like him more.
While I regret his injury and am happy he is on the mend, I still don't like TJ and still think he should be replaced as challenge host. I personally don't give two ****s about the host, I watch for the castmembers, actually I barely watch the show anymore but you know what I mean.
I have never really complained about TJ as a host, but I never thought he was particularly good. He's just so one-note. "You killed it, man." "Don't quit.' It's like he says everything with no personality at all. HOWEVER, on the past two challenges, especially Cutthroat, he actually had me laughing. His deadpan delivery (which I originally chalked up to him just being bland) has had me rolling sometimes. It's like the producers finally decided that TJ could show at least a LITTLE personality. I'm very happy to hear he's been doing better.
I didn't like TJ until Cutthroat (which, like someone else said, is incidentally when he had his accident...). I read somewhere that he finally asked the producers if he could show a little more personality. And I'm glad he did, I found him very enjoyable as a host this time around. EDIT: Oh, I forgot to post my thoughts on the reunion! I'm late but that's because I missed it the night it was aired but um...Boring reunion, I barely paid attention to it. Best part was Maria's laugh when they were talking about Johnny's butt. It had me literately rolling on the floor laughing.

The reunion was insightful and boring at times but nothing was a surprise. We did have a great vevmo member give us a detailed recap after all.
What did Tori say!!??!?! Lol.
What did Tori say!!??!?! Lol.
Guess we're never gonna find out, lol. :(

So Scooters the exec producer? What happened to Jonathan Murray?
So Scooters the exec producer? What happened to Jonathan Murray?
MTV produces the reunion show where Scooter Alpert is an executive producer generally known for special events. Scooter has been the ex producer of reunion shows for RW and the challenges for many years. Jon Murray is Chairman, Bunim-Murray Productions. He will frequently be listed as an executive producer, but the last time in my memory that he worked on set was during Viewer's Revenge where some say he wielded a "heavy hand." Jon has, for many years, been the creative genius behind many innovations that have been adopted throughout reality TV.

Because Jon hasn't been involved recently?
So is that why the challenges have been going downhill in quality? Because Jon hasn't been involved recently?
Jon Murray may be listed as "executive producer" on just about everything BMP does, but that does not mean his is involved in the creative process, and I can't remember ever hearing of him being on site at a challenge. You can see everything for which he is listed as "executive producer" at imdb.com at Jonathan Murray - IMDb. To better understand the role of a producer, I recommend the quick read at What is a Producer?
Well he had to be on site on The Battle of The Sexes 1 because they showed him on the show dealing with the whole Puck/David Incident.
Kenny said that he's never even met Jon Murray and Derrick said it was because he's only been on challenges
