It's premiering on the 8th of January, not the 15th:

I hope the change of premiere date doesn't hurt ratings.
why would it? if it was one week after episode 1 then you'd have a point my dude.
I already posted that a few days ago.
Thomas looks like a weird in that freeze frame. Same thing he did with Hailey in the confessional for the trailer. Hope he is okay character.
...good for you...
just saying, its stupid for them to change the premier date to the same date when SOOOOO many other shows come back...
theres way more hype for those since theres a 3-4 week break than for TRW so to move it forward a week just makes it worse. They should have kept it at the 15th.
House tour

I looked around and you're right a lot of shows come back but RW is on at 10 when the others are over...
AHS is on at 10 and comes back from break the same day RW premiers now..... Hence why I said I'll be watching AHS over TRW. If they wanted good ratings, especially for the premier, they would think before they do stuff like this
Can't keep a challenge running without new real world cast members
not to mention even if it did premier on the 15th try could just cut the break between TRW and Challenge a week short.
Sure you can just get vets and rookies from previous real worlds
But honestly moving it forward one week won't change much because American horror story will still be on the week after

That wouldn't work because most are eventually going to get back to their real lives and no one is going to continue to watch the same people continue to do the show. If The Real World ends The Challenge has a good two or three seasons before it's right behind it.
I predict bad ratings :( so many complainers on the facebook page saying this season isn't "real" and they're not watching.
#GoodByeRealWorld
#GoodByeTheChallenge
All those people who quit on the show better not complain when it's not renewed! #StayLoyal #YourFavoriteChallengeMembersWillBeJoblessSoon

Exactly. I don't get how some people don't get that, if RW gets canceled The Challenge won't be far behind since RW is what helps keep the show afloat in terms of casting
If they wanted good ratings then they wouldnt have done this stupid exes theme.
The commercials even say"its the biggest DISASTER in real world history".
Also most people DON'T watch the challenge to see the rookies **** just look at the battle of the seasons ratings.
And ST Thomas had horrible ratings and they keep get invited back to challenges so even if the ratings suck then they will probably still invite people from this season

I don't see it that way, even if this season get bad ratings. Atleast they did something to try to get new viewers to watch the show. I am pretty sure Production knew that they would be taking a risk, we will see how it plays out. Their is a lot positive comments about on twitter.
One thing is for sure according to MTV.com Portland trailer was seen by 154,541 for 9 months...While Ex-plosion trailer have been seen so far over 146,731 in 2 weeks which 7,000 less viewer than Portlnd Trailer on the course of 9 months. So people are even more curious on seeing the trailer.
I see ratings increasing at least a little.
You make a good point pinkrose I hadn't thought about it like that.
On the plus side there were 5 commercials for the rw during awkward last night so that should bring in some viewers
At least people are talking about this season. Any publicity is good publicity especially when the past few seasons haven't generated close to as much buzz.
People that are complaining about it are dumb to me. The show is doing poorly in ratings and had to do something to try to boost them. If this doesn't work then it's not like a regular season would have and it would have been cancelled anyway.

A regular season could've worked if they cast 7 interesting individuals and edit them as such. The only problem I may have with this season is that a few cast members(Ashley C., Jenny) seem so rehearsed. But I think it'll do fine for the premier out of curiosity.
I just want to see what else they come up with ,
I would like a
1. Minority Season (No Cacausian Castmates)
2. A Twin Season (1 set of Identical , Faternal and Triplets)
3. A International Season (7 Foreign Roomates mostly from Australia and UK)
4. A Uneven Roomate Situation (5 Guys and 3 Girls or 5 Girls and 3 Boys)
5. A College Season (Set in a College House)
6. Another Hollywood/Entertainment Season
7. A Model Season (Where they Intern for a Fashion House and must recieve 4 or More gigs before the end of filming)
8. An Asian Season (2 Oriental , 2 Middle Eastern , 2 Indian and 1 Filipino)
9. A Homeless Season (All roommates where Homeless before.
10. An Occupy Wall Street Season (Or any Major Political Movement atm) (Where they have to work on their Movement.

Isn't that basically what we're getting this season? The female to male ratio is 8:4 or 2:1

San Diego and St. Thomas really screwed up the show, after that no amount of drama could've bought those same viewers back under the same format. Portland was by no means perfect but it was decent and MUCH better than the last 2 seasons and it struggled every week to cross the million viewers mark. Like someone else said, this is at least worth a try because what they've been doing isn't working.

I like the idea to switch things up, but I think a lot of those ideas would alienate fans even more, IMO.
I hate to say it but if MTV cast more Adam Royer's,Ryan Leslie's, and Frank Sweeney's the viewers and ratings would go up. Why do you think Vegas was so good in viewers and rating because they had more then one person causing drama. You had Adam and Dustin, the main ones around drama, and then others who could bring in some drama and good storylines. San Diego flopped because there wasn't enough people to cause drama and different storylines they only had Frank. If Joi would've never left Portland would've have flopped just as bad because, at that point the only drama starter they had was Jordan, but then Nia came in and took over which helped. St.Thomas had to be the worst season as in viewers and rating simply because there was no one to start any drama.
