new brooklyn news from curbed.com The Real World Red Hook thing that we first reported earlier this week via a tipster may be (sort of) confirmed. Unofficially. There are reports of work going on at the Pier 41 building, which houses Steve's Key Lime Pies, among other businesses, and of people being unable to talk about things because they've signed papers. Metro says that "workers at Pier 41, a commercial building on Van Dyke Street, confirmed that MTV will house the next season of the show (and the next seven participants) there," proving the adage that it's always best to go straight to the source. Most telling, though, is that Greg O’Connell, who owns Pier 41, "said he signed a waiver of confidentiality and declined to speak." The Brooklyn Paper adds that Mr. O'Connell says he's "signed some papers." Which is pretty much all the confirmation one needs that it's looking very much like Real World Red Hook.
People at all three locations signed "papers." Unfortunately that is only step one in the process.

Why are people tripping about this and that?
V1: do you know where it's going to be? BMP/MTV can't be starting to build out all these different places if they are as cheap as people here are saying. Though Redhook would be nice aesthetically, it would just be a pain in the *** for cast members to navigate their way around. and there's still a tiny element of danger in redhook. don't know if that's too much of an issue if you're being followed around by cameras.

I talked to someone close (emotionally and physically) to the situation yesterday and the frustration over the delay was very apparent. Carroll Gardens certainly was back in play. Beyond that, I don't know. When someone on the inside talks to me I don't ask questions, I just listen. That way the agenda is entirely theirs and not mine.
Carroll Gardens certainly was back in play.
The main problem with Carroll Gardens (from what I have heard) is the community doesn't want them there. We saw the types of problems community angst has caused in the past and I don't think MTV wants to go through that again.... The reason BellTel was so attractive was because it's in a relative dead zone.
So let's recap because I don't feel like re-reading this thread.... so bell tell is out?
And this is a relatively short thread....:D
The co-op board at bell-tell didn't want them there. after it was announced they definitely weren't filming. bell-tell sent a letter out to share holders saying that the building will be more attractive to the right buyer. But that area is not a deadzone--it's mainly populated by court workers, lawyers and students right now. It's not a neighborhood like Carroll Gardens. Carroll Gardens definitely doesn't want the RW circus.
court workers, lawyers and students
Any area whose principle residents are court workers and lawyers is a "relative deadzone" in my eyes. ;)

OPD. My bad. I looked at the page numbers first, lol Carroll Gardens is where? anybody got a map? And why dont they want them there? I mean before this site, I never even ***king heard of them...lol
Carroll Gardens is still in brooklyn. but it's very neighborhoody. A lot of families (many with $$$). Again, the area isn't much of scene. I love living there so much because of this. It's quiet. If i wanted clubs, i would have stayed in manhattan. but it's much easier to get to than redhook. i thought belltell would have been nice. quiet at night and on weekends. it's on a nice plaza (good for filming). steps from Dumbo and Brooklyn Heights. good proximity to the city, fort greene, boerum/cobble hill. oh well.

how far are you guys from Flatbush?

V1: are you in the area? I'm not sure how far i am from flatbush (blush). It's not an area i have much reason to go to. RW Flatbush would be pretty **** interesting. RW Crown Heights, anyone?

that was me who said that not V1. And yeah Im in that area. Flatbush has a lot to do but the clubs suck, well what we have of them. I can see another Johanna like episode where someone tries to steal a bootleg videotape from a jamaican.

RW Crown Heights, anyone?
I was referring to Bacchus' disdain for those who toil in the august undertaking of the law. I split my time among DC, Denver and LA now, although I used to live at east end and 88th Street in Manhattan a couple of decades ago.
I was referring to Bacchus' disdain for those who toil in the august undertaking of the law.
Aww....I was being very judgmental, I know... I wasn't thinking of you in particular with that blanket statement. Anyone that writes a "topless clause" into a reality personalities contract can't be all that bad. Sometimes lawyers do good! :D

To be fair, there is one team in baseball that I love and one I hate. I'm simply indifferent to all the rest.
so bacchus dislikes lawyers and people who live near the belltell lofts in brooklyn. (I'd put a smiley if i knew how)

to be honest all you have to do is click post reply and there's a smilie option up at the top next to the bar where you can change the reply topic.

(i'm a girl--don't follow sports really) i don't even know who those guys are in the top photo and if they're getting intimate or violent.
not really... they went off on a large tangent. bacchus commented on the area that that lofts are in being a dead zone because any area inhabited largely by lawyers and court workers is a dead zone to him. then V1man chimed in because he is involved in law and then they started talking about the red sox vs. the yankees because bacchus is a gung-ho red sox fan and i guess v1man is a yankees fan. then bacchus pointed out how the yankees choked.
still makes no sense. (inserts some other cute face). I love BROOKLYN!
