The Challenge: Unpopular Opinions

Not Challenge  related but, When ever i see a picture of Megan McKenna. I can imagine her getting ready to spit on someone. Idk if its her rest face or what.

Vendettas sucked on the vendettas part (which was the whole point) of getting revenge on someone in a nasty way. Nobody who got grenades used them wisely (except Brad) and having to choose a grenade before the daily challenge was pointless. The system was good on paper but sucked in practise. Not to mention that people weren't even gunning for their vendetta and kept throwing around the word " you just made a new vendetta" for someone who is just playing the game...ridiculous.

This was something that bothrered me. Like if someone just got into an argument it was YOU CREATED A NEW VENDETTA! or someone made a game move etc. Shit like that is why there's probably never gonna be legit gameplay on this show. Because people are sensitive and people take it personally.

I guess this may be unpopular, but I don't care how many seasons John Devenanzio has won - he isn't the "best" or "goat" or whatever.  I base this opinion on the following:

He's been on far more challenges than virtually everyone else.  Most seasons he's won, he's been paired with very strong partners.  If it's a M/F partnership, the season usually comes down to which team has the strongest female.  Getting Camila or Sarah Rice is a great draw.  Even his rivals have all been strong.  In other words, he's never handicapped.

Most seasons he just skates by without even going to an elimination.  It has frustrated me for years how season after season, everyone else just lets him run the show.  The tide only recently has started to turn on that, but even still the people gunning for him tend to be weaker competitors.  Corey, Nelson, Devin, even Tony all of a sudden - none of these guys are strong competitors.  Add to this:  earlier this past season they mentioned these two facts during the Cara Maria trivia intro/outro's.... John has the most elimination losses than anyone.  While Wes has been in the most eliminations and has the most wins at 13.    John has been on 17 seasons - won 6 of them - and hasn't accumulated more elimination visits (let alone wins) than Wes?  How is that even possible?  Because he skates by.

I don't think anyone fears John.  For someone to be so good, why have there been multiple instances (Wes, Devin for recent example) who have been sent into elimination and not only asked for, but championed to go against John.  I don't ever recal anyone begging to go in against Darrel or CT or Landon.

Lastly, hes won the most because he (like Cara - and I at least kind of like Cara) has made a career out of The Challenge.  Ever since his Real World season, he has been on literally every Challenge season.  Everyone else does a few challenges then moves on to real life.  Or they take multiple hiatuses.  Darrel was gone for a long time.  Wes skips most seasons.  CT has skipped a bunch, and after the Adam incident it seemed like there were 4 or 5 seasons in a row he wasn't allowed back.  Brad and Derrick both left for what, 8 years?  Et cetera.  But John is brought back every.  damned.  time.  He literally trains for this - does nothing but crossfit and other crap.  He has no real life responsibilities.  No career (other than selling his merch, which idk why even fans would want to wear).  No wife/kids, etc.  He lives and breaths the challenge.  Hell this past season he proudly revealed having family members write dumb notes so he could create drama.  Who thinks of that and why?  Just mroe proof he lives and breaths this stuff.

I'm not saying he isn't a good competitor.  He obviously is.  But I don't get Bunim Murrays obsession with him.  We can go a season or two in a row without him.  Let some of these other guys shine.

One last gripe while I'm at it.  So tired of him whining like a baby whenever someone makes a move against him.  What Sarah did was brilliant as far as game play.  What Tony did was as well.   I don't think either compared to what John did to Paula on the Island.  That was far far worse, yet at the same time it was still a smart move to ensure a win.

Unpopular Opinion - Tony wasn’t impressive at all on Vendettas minus the eating Challenge. The other two wins he actually won he barely won, and one of them (the water challenge) I still believe he didn’t actually win. Shane was way faster than him, so how did he beat Shane? Production gave it to him to go along with his “changed” edit, and every other Troika he was placed in by Bananas and co or Zach or insisted he be in and they all went with it.

Had he seen an elimination he would have been gone.

I think MTV is sleeping on not having the Theo/Kassius drama translate to the challenge

What..... A read.

I think MTV is sleeping on not having the Theo/Kassius drama translate to the challenge

Thank Theo for all that then, he had his golden opportunity to be the next star and he blew it BIG TIME.

I wouldn’t be surprised that he’s one part of the reason Bad Blood is getting ignored. If he lasted longer or didn’t quit we coulda seen more rivals/Exes from that season with him becoming a new regular. They really did give him everything on a silver platter and he blew it......

..........true. *cries*

But fuck all that. They have REAL bad blood & should've been locks for Vendettas along with Tyara/Anna/Katrina. In addition to that I don't feel like because of what happened with him that they should've punished the rest of the cast.

Theo is getting robbed regardless though. I already know casuals would've hated him >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

It seems like many don't agree with this anymore but another unpopular opinion of mine is that they could totally do season 33 as an old school team challenge and it would be just as fun, drama filled, and crazy as the current ones.  It'd be more interesting to see people in two (or three) giant teams that don't get along but have to work together then nominate to vote people into elminiation.

If Bananas & Sarah weren’t a part of Rivals 3 I think it would have been a more liked season

FR. I mean as much as I love Marie what she did and what Theo did were no different

it would have been better bc the playing field would have been better balanced but the main reasons why I disliked it so much was the change in editing style in addition to very weak rivalries (Averey and Leroy smh) with the exception of a few teams. They should have waited another season or two before doing a third Rivals. And now I’m over the concept since we had these last few which were unpaired Rivals pretty much

Am I the only one that thinks they could tone down the endless efforts to add twists and supposed shocking moments?  Just play a straight up game from start to finish and let the chips fall where they do.

I'm with you 100%...the show worked just fine back in the day without them.  Taking a season off without a twist and turn would be super refreshing.

I'm sure that's too popular to belong here.  I can't say I've seen anyone react positively to the amount of twists
