Vevmo: Site Responsiveness

I am aware that the website is running very slow today and am working with my host to fix the issue. Response times are running 20-30 seconds rather then the standard 4-5 seconds, and it is unacceptable.

I am on a shared hosting plan and someone is eating up 50x what I am using (probably serving spam or something else nefarious) and they have been getting away with it. I am told that they are going to be throttled as soon as the owner of the other site has been given an appropriate amount of time to self impose usage restrictions.

The clock has been ticking and it should be squared away later today.

You are very sweet Bacchus, but it isn't so bad at all. Your having this site is appreciated in the first place so a lag sometimes is certainly work aroundable!

Well it looks like they decided to work on the server issue during the night, right in the middle of an automated database backup.........

*sigh*

Looks like the site has been sleeping along with me, as the backup never completed thus leaving things in a state or perpetual backup which in turn meant the forums were switched off. I just turned then back on.

Re: Vevmo: Site Responsiveness

The server was down for a few hours tonight on what was turning out to be a rocking night on Vevmo with the premiere of The Gauntlet 3. Nothing I could do but whine and moan to my host. Hopefully they have the problem licked and it doesn't happen again anytime soon - but I am not holding my breath.

My advice to anyone considering a web host is to steer clear of Dreamhost. I'll be moving elsewhere once my contract is up in April.

Re: Vevmo: Site Responsiveness

It is still running slow today. I am still complaining. I think y'all know me well enough by now to assume that my complaining will slowly (maybe quickly) drive them insane. I suspect they will do what they can to stop the onslaught.

The squeaky wheel gets the grease!

Here is the status page for future use. Bookmark it. If the vevmo is down, you can usually find out why: http://www.dreamhoststatus.com/

Right now their LAX Datacenter is having major problems. Tens of thousands of websites are affected.

Make sure when you visit them to post anonymous comments calling their service worthless and such because you can't get your favorite Real World Gossip, lol!

BTW: Oh...but don't mention this site or my name....hahaha...
