I would expect there to be some evidence of this sport in your part of the country Bacc! I do have to give credit to the 2006 winter Olympics...it really revitalized the sport. My daughter joined the junior league last year and now she is in the highschool league.

Besides, it's something I can follow, unlike hockey and football...too many rules I have no idea what's going on.

Yes, you heard me. A Canadian admitting that she doesn't understand hockey! LOL I have a general idea, but sometimes I have to ask why something happened when I am forced to watch the Maple Leafs lose yet another game.

I have a 7th grader too. You pale next to me. Maybe that will make her feel better. My daughter has a friend whose mother is almost as strict as I am. My kiddo wore a pair of sandals to school and her friend said where did you get those. If your mom let you wear them then mine will let me too.

I know of such establishments, these "curling rinks" but to be honest, you have to cross the border into Canada to find one. Saying I take my kid to curling practice to an American leaves a "WTF are you talking about" look on most faces....lol. In Maine, we take whatever "rocks" we can find and break the pond ice to fish and feed the sled dogs. We are much more pragmatic then our friends to the north.

Girl Guides

Normally I Americanize my speech as not to confuse anyone. I guess the Girl Guides slipped my notice that time. Otherwise I would have typed Girl Scouts.

I am proud to be Canadian and don't mind the ribbing, but I'm weak to conformity sometimes and spell incorrectly just to please you all.

I can remember the first time I heard my fiancé watch curling on TV. I was in the other room, and all I could hear was "HURRY! HARD!... HUR--RRRY", I thought WTF are you watching ... it's only Sunday afternoon?

So does everyone else. We are easily confused.....Hahaha. Kill-o-meters? What the hell are those!?

Watching curling is definitely a surreal experience. So much passion about sweeping! If only I could find such devotion in my own daily chores.
