ITunes Movie Rentals Are a Scam So I recently rented Superbad on the ITunes store with the expectation to be able to watch it during my flight tonight on my 30G Ipod video. Not so fast. As the kids on South Park say towards the end of an episode "I learned something today". ITunes hides in very small print that is very hard to find in the ITunes store that ITunes movie rentals can only be synced to very new Ipod devices like Iphone, Ipod touch, etc. If you have an Ipod video it will not work. You will be stuck with renting a video for $4 that you can only play on your computer and that you could have got from netflix and just watched with your DVD player on your computer. This makes no sense as I have downloaded several TV Shows and Movies(Not Movie Rental) and all have had no problem watching them with my Ipod video. There was no warning on any of the transaction screens while renting the movie so I didn't have a second thought about it. ITunes is basically trying to mislead its customers into renting in a format they would not if they were properly informed. The only value to itunes rentals is being able to synce to an Ipod. Otherwise just go rent the movie at the store and play it on your computer, tv or whatever as many times as you wan through the rental period. As with anything else in ITunes it is impossible to talk to a real person. Customer service is non-existant.

Re: ITunes Movie Rentals Are a Scam Basically what you are saying is the only way to watch Superbad on an older model ipod is to pirate it. Great business model that they have there! You would think that they would offer the appropriate firmware updates to their entire line of products to be able to handle the new fangled DRM, which in essence is the root of the problem.

Re: ITunes Movie Rentals Are a Scam that SUCKS man. Yeah...it's like the TV Shows and Movies for sale had the right firmware to rock it, but the rentals don't. way bogus. I'm flying tomorrow (to SAN DIEGO WOO!) and im just bringing my MacBook with some DVDs =) Netflix DVDs, mind you. lol

Re: ITunes Movie Rentals Are a Scam I fly from Charlotte, NC to Minneapolis and back every week. I was really looking forward to being able to rent movies on my Ipod for the flights. Its not worth it to buy movies on ITunes becuase you can only watch on lap top or Ipod(resolution when hooked to my TV is crappy). I'm really getting tired of the 3 seasons of The Office I have on my Ipod. And of course ABC stopped their partnership with ITunes after season 3.

Re: ITunes Movie Rentals Are a Scam I carry it on. My battery is getting weak though. Probably wouldn't last the entire movie. Also I don't like lugging it out of the overhead then having to put it back.

Re: ITunes Movie Rentals Are a Scam You should check the laptop and spring for an EEEPC to carry on. I know it is the next toy on my list for cheap ultraportable multimedia and web surfing.

Re: ITunes Movie Rentals Are a Scam Presuming that you pay for your ITunes purchases by credit card, all you need to do is to dispute the charge. It is not enough money that the credit card company nor Apple with bother with you, especially after you state to the CC company that you purchased something that was not compatible with your intended use.
