Help: computer Guru Needed!

Oh Lord Bacchus, I think I $@#$#$%@ up my computer!!!!!!!

Windows 2000

It's been slow all day and freezing up. I decided to do a disc clean up, since I hadn't done that in a millenium.

Then I got a Stop Error code

* * * STOP: 0x00000077 (0xC000000E, 0xC000000E, 0x00000000, 0x016BF000)
KERNEL_STACK_INPAGE_ERROR
Beginning Dump of Physical Memory
So I press Ctrl + Alt + Del

Then another message appears...

If this is the first time you've seen this Stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:
Check to make sure any new hardware or software is properly installed. If this is a new installation, ask your hardware or software manufacturer for Windows 2000 updates you might need.
If problems continue disable or remove any newly installed hardware or software. Disable BIOS Memory Options such as caching or shadowing. If you need to use Safe Mode to remove or disable components, restart your computer, Press F8 to select Advanced Start Up options, and then select Safe Mode.
Refer to your Getting Started Manual for more information on troubleshooting stop errors.
So I went to restart...

and now my computer keeps beeping at me and says press F1 to try to reboot or F2 for the whatever menu!

Bacchus is she just sick or is she in critical condition that I need to get my IT guy in here pronto?

It doesn't look good. I did a quick lookup on that Stop code and it is usually derived from the media dying, e.g. hard drive failure.

If you have a windows 2000 disk on hand, I'd run a check disk to see if you can fix the bad blocks.

Insert the Disk:

1.Restart the computer.
2.When the Welcome to Setup screen appears, press R to start the Recovery Console.
3.If you have a dual-boot or a multiple-boot computer, select the installation that you need to access.
4.When you are prompted, type the administrator password. If the administrator password is blank, press ENTER.
5.At the command prompt, type chkdsk /r, and then press ENTER.
6.When Chkdsk has finished running, read the results, and then take any steps that are required to complete the process. For example, you may be prompted to run chkdsk /f to fix certain problems.
7.Restart the computer.

Re: Help: computer Guru Needed!

I've decided that I'm going to be in denial here. I don't have the energy or time to find my discs. I'll handle it on the weekend.

If I do what you suggest, will I loose anything on the hard drive? My whole business is on that thing!!!!!

Funny thing is that we are in the process of buying a new computer to replace that one. Shit.

I'm going home. I'll talk to you later.

Check disk is non-invasive. However if the data is really important to you I'd recommend getting the computer into the hands of a skilled technician rather then risk further damage.

Re: Help: computer Guru Needed!

Well, the news is not good.

The ticking noise I've been hearing for weeks, was the needle that reads the hard drive. She is dead. Nothing can be recovered.

Not the end of the world, because anything important was printed and filed away. So not lost forever, and I think I did a back up of My Documents in the past two years. (Sounds bad, but really we store too much anyway right? LOL) The most important thing is that my bookkeeping files are backed up regularly and easily fixed.

I'm just trying to think positive here.

I get my replacement computer by the end of the day, they just have to transfer my zip drive, so I can restore my bookkeeping records.
