Lightbulb Lost Theories - Think you know?

Lost

There are a whole lot of questions that are screaming for some answers. We aren't likely to be getting anything concrete that will satisfy us all this season but we sure have a lot of theories that explain most everything. Here is the place to do just that.

From the interview in EW with Matthew Fox, we found out that we won't find out who was in the coffin in the 8 episodes that they have filmed thus far. With no end in sight with the writer's strike, we probably won't find out until next year.

But who do you think is in that coffin.

Here are our clues. This person is not well liked. No one but Jack went to his/her funeral... not even family. Jack does not consider this person to be a friend. Nor does Kate, because when Jack asked her if she was going she looked at him ludicrously and said why would I? But yet, the death of this person moves Jack so deeply that he wants to jump off a bridge????

The top two candidates in my mind are Locke and Ben. Based on the above criteria.

Now today, on EW a whole bunch of people are saying that it's Michael. For these reasons: Funeral home is in a black neighborhood. Newspaper said (and there is no proof to substantiate this...but others claimed to have seen it at one time) NY man found dead...survived by teenage son. No one came to his funeral because he betrayed them.

But I 'm thinking Locke or Ben. Both have serious medical issues that would cause their death if they came off the island. Ben's cancer and Locke...well ... he'd probably commit suicide if he had to be crippled again. However, Ben wasn't miraculously cured so...he may be exempt from that (it's always great when you discredit your own theories. lol )

Now onto the other mystery...Who is Kate's 'him'? Sawyer? That could very well be. But what if ... there is a baby. Kate could be pregnant right now and in these Flashbacks she is a mother of a young boy. I have to bring up that some people are supposing that Claire dies and Kate assumed her identity and baby Aaron to avoid prison... but I don't find that plausible at all. It just doesn't sit well with me. There is rumor that in a future episode it will feature Kate's flash forward where she stands trial for the murder.

What bothers me about Kate is that she doesn't seem to be affected at all to life back at home. Almost immediately Hurley checks himself into the loony bin and some years down the road, Jack's life spirals completely out of control to the point of almost jumping off a bridge (and in episode 401, we see the beginning of his dependence on alcohol...spiking his OJ with vodka). So why? Why isn't she crazy?

What do you think is really going on?

Re: Lost Theories - Think you know?

Here is my shot in the dark: The person in the casket is John Locke. He didn't want to the leave the island, but Jack basically dragged him off (maybe by gunpoint.) Later Jack comes to the realization that Locke is a prophet through earthly visions of those that have died on the island. Unfortunately it is too late. Locke dies and Jack knows he is the reason why. Leaving the island was a death sentence as it was in spite of destiny. Remember Locke's prophetic words, "Jack, you aren't supposed to do this." Jack is going against the progression of time and Locke knew it then. It was not supposed to happen that way and Jack directly caused his death (which basically makes him Judas.) This is what causes Jack to want to end his life, even though he would not consider Locke a friend.

As for Kate, it can only be Sawyer (unless there is a second version of Jack running around from a different dimension.)

Re: Lost Theories - Think you know?

First I want to know where that photo of the eye came from? Is it from the actual screen cap?

Because if that is the actual eye from episode 402, I can see where people are saying that it's Hurley's own eye.

And why does it have to be Sawyer? Can't it be her cop husband? Your not buying into that she and Sawyer made a baby?

Re: Lost Theories - Think you know?

That is Jack's eye from episode 1.

As for who freckles is with, I don't think the producers are going to go that far from the "island fruit basket" with Kate's affections.

Re: Lost Theories - Think you know?

You know I'm a fairly intelligent gal. I don't claim to know everything or see everything. But holy heck those 'serious' Lost fans that post after EW's Jensen recaps are blowing my mind. And I am not saying this in a good way.

I think Doc's theories are well thought out and researched. Sure some of them are probably way off, but that's the fun part.

But the theories that had be rolling my eyes and actually contemplating not visiting these sites anymore, were:

The freighter 4's flashbacks were actually flash-forwards - I have no proof of why, but am calling BS! They have to be flashbacks. Naomi is dead she can't have a flash-forward and hers was obviously a flash back because it was after the crash was 'found' and Abbaddon is giving her the names of the people that will be on her team. The others were flash-backs to introduce them to the audience and explain their abilities or role.

Walt or Eko is the dead ghost boy - That is the stupidest leap ever. Why because he's black it must be Walt or Eko???? Yes, Walt left the island went to California to live with his grandmother and became a drug dealer. Throw in the time-line and it makes even more sense <rolleyes>. Ridiculous! Don't even get me started on why this is not Eko. Jeesh.

Taller Walt/big baby Aaron - This must mean that time moves faster/slower on the island. Ummm, Helllooooo they are actors and kid actors at that. They grow. Aaron was never the 'appropriate' size for his age, as is the case for most babies on TV. (The writers/producers said they were going to bring in Walt's height into the story, but I'm sure this was not what they meant.)

I'm sure there were one or two more but I can't think of them right now.

A couple of people brought up some interesting theories. One Bacchus mentioned to me last week.

Final Destination.
The premise is that these guys (in the movie) were fated to die on that plane, but escaped death...but you can't escape death, and it will get you.

This ties into the losties and the 4 new people from the freighter. We know that Frank was supposed pilot Oceanic 815 but didn't. I'm betting that the other three were also supposed to be on that flight and fate or (Abbaddon) is bringing them to the island where they are supposed to be. This also could explain why Hurley and Jack are so messed up in the future. They were never meant to live back in the real world.

I'm not one to rule out anyone's theory of what is really going, unless of course it is crazy stupid I personally buy into at least 4 different theories and each week something lends credence to those theories or debunks them all together. That's the fun part.

Anyway, I just wanted to rant a bit

(I hope I didn't offend anyone who might have or believes in some of the crazy theories mentioned above.)

Re: Lost Theories - Think you know?

Looks like there is a "groundbreaking" article posted over at EW concerning the future of Lost. As is the norm, I am scared to read it. I'll wait and see if any of you spoiler hounds out there want to take a peak and tell me if it is safe for consumption without giving anything major away!

Also, WWK has sneak peak video from tonights episode.

Unhappy Re: Lost Theories - Think you know?

I'm really bummed that I'm in the air every Thursday night and can't post live on Lost. I get home at Midnight and watch it immediately - can't even wait till the next morning. It was always fun to watch the live posts develop during the show last season
