| Private Practice: Ep. 03 - In Which Addison Finds the Magic Another week of Dr. Naomi Bennett moping around the office, woe is me - lets eat some cake and do other stereotypical things in line with replacing one depressive ill with another... A girls got to eat, right? Wrong! Lets move along the character development please, Ms. Rhimes. Maybe Cooper should have gotten Naomi a stripper instead of Sam. Do you guys need help writing a compelling script? I am free on Tuesday afternoons and Friday nights (sad I know!) The Pete / Addison dynamic just didn't feel right this episode and maybe that was the desired effect being that Pete was going through a tough time with the anniversary of his wife's death. I can't put my finger on the root cause of the awkward fog that has descended upon their dialog swapping, I just know it doesn't flow. One of the main issues I see with this show is the lack of cast available for relationships. Who can Naomi be with besides Sam? Who can Addison be with besides Pete? Who can Violet be with besides Cooper? There are so many limiting factors. They really need a larger source of character influx in order to open up more story opportunities. With Grey's you get the impression that anything can happen. That is sorely missing here. I am not sure how to rate this installment of PP. I guess the first thing I need to do is to stop comparing it to Grey's Anatomy as they are not in the least bit similar. I'll watch again next week, even if I don't feel this show really stands out as a fall favorite thus far. Note: Didn't Sam and Naomi's daughter look a little old? That caught me off guard. |

| Re: Private Practice: Ep. 03 - In Which Addison Finds the Magic I enjoyed the episode. I'm not sure why the young receptionist is wanting to 'bake' cakes for Naomi...but whatever. As you all know, I am watching this show with out the benefit of being a fan of Grey's. Maybe that makes a difference...or maybe it's just being female and the writing and storylines are directed to a female. I have no idea. I like the pairing of the characters and how they interact with each other. Actually I think what's her face (from Grey's) is my least favorite character on this show. |
