That'd be cool if they did it on a pier again ala Seattle.

I'm guessing they go back to Vegas sooner rather than later. Hell, I bet George Maloof would pay MTV to come back! The Real World made The Palms a shit ton of money!
I lived in Vegas for awhile and before the palms had realworld it was a lame casino...But since then it has become huge...one of the biggest attraction in town.

Redhook is a great area. But it's not that easy to get to. No subways stop nearby. You have to take a subway to a bus to get there. There's now a huge Ikea out there and they have free shuttle service that people have been using to get to Redhook for free. And I can't imagine BMP giving them a car cause even if it would be fairly easy to use in Brooklyn, using a car on Manhattan just isn't reasonable. Hopefully the cast will have some pocket change so they can take cabs. Otherwise, they'll be spending a lot of time in local bars. And Redhook isn't really a scene. They also have a 2am curfew? People in Manhattan don't even get started until 2am. Why did they institute a curfew? Safety? More film time in the house?

The Real World Red Hook thing that we first reported earlier this week via a tipster may be (sort of) confirmed. Unofficially. There are reports of work going on at the Pier 41 building, which houses Steve's Key Lime Pies, among other businesses, and of people being unable to talk about things because they've signed papers. Metro says that "workers at Pier 41, a commercial building on Van Dyke Street, confirmed that MTV will house the next season of the show (and the next seven participants) there," proving the adage that it's always best to go straight to the source. Most telling, though, is that Greg O’Connell, who owns Pier 41, "said he signed a waiver of confidentiality and declined to speak." The Brooklyn Paper adds that Mr. O'Connell says he's "signed some papers." Which is pretty much all the confirmation one needs that it's looking very much like Real World Red Hook.
People at all three locations signed "papers." Unfortunately that is only step one in the process.

Why are people tripping about this and that?

V1: do you know where it's going to be? BMP/MTV can't be starting to build out all these different places if they are as cheap as people here are saying. Though Redhook would be nice aesthetically, it would just be a pain in the ass for cast members to navigate their way around. and there's still a tiny element of danger in redhook. don't know if that's too much of an issue if you're being followed around by cameras.

The lights and cameras attract their own kind of danger especially from the gang element.

I talked to someone close (emotionally and physically) to the situation yesterday and the frustration over the delay was very apparent. Carroll Gardens certainly was back in play. Beyond that, I don't know. When someone on the inside talks to me I don't ask questions, I just listen. That way the agenda is entirely theirs and not mine.

The main problem with Carroll Gardens (from what I have heard) is the community doesn't want them there. We saw the types of problems community angst has caused in the past and I don't think MTV wants to go through that again....

The reason BellTel was so attractive was because it's in a relative dead zone.
