Real World Brooklyn: Gender Identification

Would a transgender person be considered gay?? I am kinda confused on that terminology. So we came to the conclusion that JD is gay and that there is a transgender person this season so could that account for the 2 gay people that this rumor mentioned??

That first question would be best answered by an entire course on the subject of q**** culture. My basic understanding is that a person is what they say they are. Transgendered really has little to do with sexual orientation. Transgendered just means that a person identifies with another gender (other than the one assigned to them through genetics) or that a person was born into the wrong physical body. Transsexual, I believe, is a term that describes someone who was transgendered who has gone through the surgeries involved in becoming a different sex. But I think there are also a group of people who say that once they have gotten the surgery, they are no longer transgendered because they are now in the right body and they would then consider themselves a "normal" female or male.

I'm sure there is a lot more to it than that, but I hope that clarified at least a little bit. Also I only have a very basic understanding and I am just an "outsider looking in" so some of what I said may be misrepresented...

Yep, that's a good way to describe it. I have only known a few transgendered individuals and it was nothing to do with sexual preference, only their own identity.

Re: Real World Brooklyn: Gender Identification

Well, I saw this TV show...I can't remember what it was called, but it was something like "Born in the wrong body: going back" or somethign like that...about 2 people born men...one had a complete change and one kept the package, but changed in every other way and then both decided to go back to being a man. Well the guy who kept his package said he felt like a lesbian trapped in a man's body because he was attracted to women and he enjoyed sex with women, but lesbian sex, not regular sex. It is such a gray area to people who know nothing about it...like me.

I wish someone could help clear it up for everyone one day so that there is not so much hate for the unknown.
