They wanted him last year as well. Hopefully we did not pay too much. I think he will affect positive change on the organization as he is well respected by the players.

Time will tell but I think it'd be great if we gave them Lackey for him.

It's being reported they got Mike Aviles. Only in our wildest dreams would anyone ever take Lackey off our hands without us paying 99.999% of his salary.

You'd almost have a better chance trading Arod or Vernon Wells!

Well in that case, here's to hoping that Farrell and his pick for Pitching Coach can work a bit of magic into Lackey so we get at least half his worth in value.

You love them or you love to hate them, but without them, the series will suffer (Reuters)

As a point of trivia and education I think I should mention that the highest rated World Series in the last decade didn't involve the Yankees or a top five media market.

999/1000 times, the ratings will be better if the Yankees are playing than if they are not. There isn't a situation in the foreseeable future where the Yankees not being in the WS will be good for ratings again. Maybe in 2082 when the Red Sox are in the 75th year of their WS drought, they will be better for ratings than the Yankees
