Re: The Challenge: Battle of the Exes - Johnny Devenanzio
Right it was W = F * D. Which would mean that F = W/D, so the shorter the distance, the more force necessary. I thought it was W=FD but I didn't want to throw that out there as I wasn't positive. I'm an English/Philosophy major and haven't touched physics since my junior year of high school either which is about six years now and my memory definitely isn't as good as yours.
This debate is getting really in depth on something that, to me, seems fairly obvious. If you watch Tyler, before the whistle even blows he sags down against CT and even when CT gets him up on his back initially, Tyler is able to sink his hips to the side and anchor himself. Johnny leans into CT's initial move and puts his heavy upper body on probably one of the strongest parts of CT's: his back. Johnny was probably almost weightless to CT at that moment, which lets him get his feet on the ground to stand up. Then, he hunches over to use his height to keep Johnny's feet off the ground and since Johnny's lower body isn't as strong, he can't resist. All of that happened because of the first move.

Jonny Mosely hosted the aftershow for "exes"! Can't wait to see it! Feel like the show is going for more an old school route with the cast, editing, and now the new temp host.

Re: The Challenge: Battle of the Exes - Johnny Devenanzio
"If you know anything about physics" well… your logic is flawed.
While a longer rope (assuming same density, thickness, Young's modulus, shear modulus, etc.) would require a larger force to move a heavy object than a shorter but otherwise compositionally identical rope it would be due to the longer rope’s greater mass along with the other size (surface area or volume) affected characteristics (ex. Drag) and energy loss through stretching, individual fiber friction, sound, heat, etc.
Drag would be approximately negligible in this application.
The length of the rope only matters in regards to the rope’s composition and sub-sequent required force for displacement (since drag is considered negligible)... the rope’s length is simply a component.
In regards to this physics situation and the classical W= F*d equation, d is the distance from which the object moves. It is not the distance between the two interacting bodies (not human but physical). Thus it does not matter if two objects are close or far from each other when interacting if you’re assuming negligible dissipation of energy.
In case anyone is interested:
Also, in an ideal situation (this is pretty much what is only taught in high school physics). A linear applied force would be assumed…. However this would most likely be an unacceptable assumption in any physics based course and in reality. A simple Fourier series would probably suffice if the force required for displacement was actually experimentally measured and recorded. The Fourier would be to find an approximate polynomial fit.
An example of how this would be a non stead state force would be leverage between the two competitors due to their angling of their bodies for help from gravity. Friction from the ground would also be variable since the surfaces in the elimination rounds were not uniform (sand and gravel if I remember correctly).

Not sure where I could put this, but MTV2's showing a BOTEX marathon.

So Ayiiia and Joey from RW Cancun were apparently asked to do Exes but he declined to be with his new baby. Hope to see more of Ayiiia on these things.

Really? Ayiiia and Joey? That would have been interesting! Although they're good competitors, I can't figure out why they keep inviting Ty back and why Emily is the only girl from DC to be asked back. I wonder if they asked CJ and Jonna to be partnered together for that quick 2 episode flirting session they had. The Hollywood, Brooklyn, Cancun, DC, & B2NO have had no representation really. I think only 2 or 3 from each cast has actually been on a show since their original season and even then it's only been 1 or 2 challenges.

While Joey may have been asked and that may have been his reason for not doing it, I am doubtful he would ever do one since he never really interacts with anybody on twitter other than Bronne and he has said several times that he hated the Real World.
