Well the court documents linked to in that article say that there was a mediation date set for September 28th. Wonder what happened there. Any legal people out there care to inform us what it means that they had a mediation date set? I was under the impression that they had already tried mediation, it didn't work, and now they were working towards a trial. Do they still work on mediation while preparing for trial?

They have other reality franchises to think about in addition to the challenges. If Tonya had any shot there would have been a sealed settlement by now. I disagree with this. Lots of companies (hospitals for example) will settle with almost everyone who sues them, even if the person doing the suing won't win their case, because they don't want the negative publicity of a trial. Even if the allegations prove to be untrue at trial, it's damaging to MTV to have people even talking about their cast members running around assaulting people with toothbrushes. I think MTV is probably highly motivated to settle regardless of whether Tonya's claims are true or not.

Remember there's always the possibility that they haven't settled because Tonya has rejected any settlements offered to her. Which would seem to give credence to the idea that she really believes these allegations are true and wants to go to trial based on principle.

How do you know that? You weren't there, CT wasn't there either. I'm also leaning towards it not being true but we can't know for sure. As Vman would say these things don't go to trial without evidence, I don't think Tonya is just making it up for money but the people who told her aren't saying anything so who knows what really happened.

I wouldn't necessarily say that. I highly doubt Katie was the only person from that cast asked to testify. The others may have voluntarily given information.

I second this. What got me was the next post that said "you weren't there. Neither was CT." Lol right now I can't even function.
