2-) I bet u saw the trailer many times, therefore u r aware of the distance between the "construction" of the hut and the beach, basically none and by panamanian laws this is forbidden, it doesn't matter if it's on private or public lands. And if they had to "clear" a space to put generators or whatever for the production at least they could have replant the area, not leaving without leaving the island the exact same way the found it when they got there.
3-) For ur information I'M FROM PANAMA, and i've been to this place also so i know how it looks like, the road, the gated private residential area and the beautiful beaches Isla del Drago has to offer. It's true that in the article doesn't say that the cast stayed anywhere, but i know as a fact that they r pretty nice and big houses in the "gated residential area", confortable enough accomodate the cast; MTV could have rent 1 of those easily. This show is not the 1st one being held in Panamanian islands; years ago i worked as a crew member in Survivor and i know how cold and unberable could be to stay that long in that kind of hut next to the beach with the weather and extream conditions we have there. They could have stayed a couple of days but not the whole production living in that hut, that's for sure. And taking in consideration how close both areas r, the gated one and the production in the beach area, it would be the perfect thing to drive back and forth like the article insinuated. (Btw at least when Survivor finished with the production, we, the crew, cleaned pretty much everything and i can tell u that we didn't destroyed that place like MTV did with Isla del Drago).
4-) Once again i know for a fact how those shows work, they made my sign a contract back then in order to not discuss what happen in the show, and yes they use scripts, sometimes not for dialogues but for the situations, the producers knows every single details of what's going on and what will happen later... i don't have to read carefully the article to know what author of it was talking about, and even so i don't think that they will throw away papers like the "TRANSCRIPTS of tapes", being those so important. But the main issue is, THIS IS ANOTHER PROVE THAT THEY WERE THERE, AND MOST IMPORTANT WHY THEY HAVE TO THROW ANYTHING AWAY? Is this how MTV cares about nature, throwing garbage away and destroyed virgin rainforest?, bothering nature, animals and human beings as well? and i don't really want to believe that all this is just for money, but isn't it?
It was my pleasure... if u have the time and money, u could give us a visit in Panama and see everything with ur own eyes and get amazed with its natural beauty, and therefore upset as well when u see things like this happening around and nobody caring about it. I'm not here to prove u wrong but to let myself hear, but i guess u'll reply once more... Thanks |
Well, if you were not so arrogantly interested in the self-important magnificence of your revelation to us of this clear affront to the dignity of Panama, you might have discovered that I'm the one who brought this story to the attention of vevmo readers and have separately brought it to the attention of the cast as well. Their reaction is anger and shame that BMP could have left the place in such a state.
It undermines your argument that we should be concerned and consequently act when you write that you are not "even interested in brainless shows like this one." Did it not occur to you that the reason people read and post at this site (even crashing the servers on the night of the show's premier) is because they are fans of the show and its cast? So while I'm very unhappy with the production company and would like to see the producer held accountable if he broke Panamanian law, pardon me for not jumping on your self righteous band wagon.
BMP rented a house for the crew, but not for the cast. They stayed in the Palapas that were constructed -- probably too close to the water line. The building used to house the TV equipment was much further away, along the road that was built. That area, and the neighboring "palatial" homes were all out of bounds for the cast. They would have been fined and or penalized in the game if they broke those rules.
We have formally asked BMP to respond to the Tree Coalition article. They have a right to defend themselves, although I often kick them in the teeth first before seeking their side of many things (but I have often represented cast members on the challenge shows).
As for your invitation to Panama, when we see the BMP reply, we'll decide if that is necessary. If they deny everything, and the Tree Coalition people tell us the place is still trashed, then I'll make a decision on the appropriate response.
