Re: Real World/Road Rules Challenge: Panama (2008)

If it is Survivor format I would but then I wouldn't love to see the cast vote for the winner. It would be interesting because the backstabbing and everything else that goes on would definitely come into play to bite them in the ass, but then I would rather see a physical final challenge. This whole challenge is definitely shaping up to be good.

Tyrie being taken off the cast is a little more reassuring that the Challenge will get better. Does anyone know who the most likely male alternate would be?

I suspect we need to right the ship here and maybe ask a few questions.

Although rumors do point to a "Survivor like" challenge, it is hard to say what similarities there will be. Rumors are the cast will be without electricity, but that does not mean we will see a clone of the CBS series with voting, tribes, immunity challenges etc. I get the impression that even though Viacom owns both CBS and MTV, that does not mean Mark Burnett is going to allow his golden cow to be cloned and relabeled (at least not cheaply.) Sure, it could be argued that The RW/RR Challenge spawned Survivor, but the show elements on Survivor would seem to be unique and copyrightable to some extent.

I think we need our resident expert on copyright law (as well as Mark Burnett) to step forward and give the breakdown.

To be honest, the way I have seen it in my head since I heard that it would be a Survivor Themed Challange was - "The Duel" on an Island without amenities (house, food, electricity, showers) and plenty of cocktail "reward challenges."

True. I was just running through scenarios. And it wouldn't be quite fair if that was the final deciding vote.

I had no clue that Viacom owned CBS as well. I guess we wouldn't want to see replicated shows. What would be the point in watching one when we could watch the other.

Yeah, I pictured it being like "The Duel" just with Survivor rules. B
ut I totally forgot about the fact that they wouldn't have a house. And in some way I have to agree that a lot of the rewards will be beer. Hmm..

Update: Brooke has made the decision not to attend the challenge, as rumored earlier.

As long as they were actually on a season of The Real World or Road Rules, I don't care.

Hmm, I am probably setting myself up for disappointment.
