1 hour episodes have seemed to work for them. The Inferno 3 being half an hour kind of hurt it because in my opinion eliminations are the most exciting part besides the drama. What was the point of watching the episode if the eliminations didn't happen until the next episode.

The big difference for the editors for The Island, is that they, the producers and the story editor have been looking at this show from the very beginning as one-hour episodes. For G3, I believe the challenge was conceived as a half-hours show and only after shooting did MTV change its mind and switch to a new one hour format. It will make all the difference in creating 43 minutes of seamless TV instead of only 22 minutes.

The Island seems like an hour-long show. I don't think they would keep the attention because 22 minutes each week isn't a long enough time to get everything in.

Yeah they know how to go about it this time and it should flow better for 43 minutes or so. I also like it as an hour show because it gives time for them to do what they want instead of dragging it out too long or rushing it.

I agree. That is what happened to the Inferno 3 I think. Way too dragged out and long. So how long is this Challenge going to go?

How many episodes are there going to be? My guess would be thirteen because that takes it right past the end of sweeps.

That could be a possibility. I think it should end a little bit before sweeps ends so they can gaurantee higher ratings than if they were to take it past sweeps. Although I would like the season to have more episodes.

Thirteen episodes would mean only one person leaving each episode plus a final episode. 43 minutes for each departure seems like a lot of time to fill, but then I don't know show storyline they intend to follow.
